About Claire Card
We immediately fell in love with Arbre de Cerise when we first visited and knew it was exactly what we were looking for - rural location, surrounded by sunflower and poppy fields but close enough to plenty of local market towns for the essentials and non-essentials. It also had the scope to develop it into three beautifully furnished and well equipped gites with room to put a large pool in the garden.
Claire Card purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Claire Card chose Linazay
Having stayed in many gites with our families over the last 10 + years (some were dreadful - filthy, badly equipped, old furniture), we knew that we wanted to provide the guests to our gites with something better. From being spotlessly clean, to matching crockery and cutlery, nice bedding and towels, well-equipped kitchens (home-from-home standards) yet still with plenty of French character and charm, to make a holiday relaxing and enjoyable.
What makes this Cottage unique
Sparkling, heated pool, with plenty of sun loungers +Free Wi-Fi. Ipod/MP3 sound systems. Games barn with table tennis. table football and adults and children's bicycles. Large flat screen TV's with FreeSat satellite TV channels. Dishwashers and washing machines

Excellent and enjoyable stay
We enjoyed an exceptional family stay in Grange, the gite was very large and had all the comforts we expected. Having access to the internet and English TV was an absolute bonus for the kids. This was before the enjoyed the swimming pool. We would recommend Grange to those families that want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living and the absolute peace and quiet of Countryside living. We were well looked after by Qui and dealing with Clare was very easy and see responded very quickly. Overall, an very enjoyable stay. Many thanks Clare.
Lovely Tournesol Gite in France.
Just come back from staying in the lovely Tournesol Gite. What a gem! The property was lovely and clean upon arrival. It has everything you need to make your holiday relaxed and welcoming. The kitchen was fully equipped, lounge had comfy sofas and large T.V (English channels), WiFi, books to read and board games, BBQ outside to use and a barn full of games to play. There was also a separate laundry room. We certainly made use of the table tennis, but there was darts, badminton, table football, croquet and several bikes free to use. As the area is flat, it is perfect for those who wish to cycle on the quiet country lanes around the property. The pool area (fenced) was lovely, with modern sun loungers and large parasols to use. The heated pool was great; especially when the weather was hot.
The Gite is in a quiet, peaceful location and only a 10 minute drive to the local supermarket. There are local villages to explore and in less than an hour you can visit various attractions: high ropes, kayaking, lakes with beaches, a zoo and much more.
Whilst we were there, we had the pleasure of meeting the owners; Claire and Nigel and their family. They were so welcoming and easy to talk with. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They gave us suggestions of where to visit and places to eat. The Walnut Tree is a must if you like home-made burgers.
Thank you Claire and Nigel for thinking of everything one would need for a perfect holiday- because that's exactly what we had.
I cannot recommend this property enough. We will most certainly be back.
Beautiful and historic gite
We had a lovely week in the 4 bedroom Tournesol. Plenty of living space inside and out. House has loads of games and books for all ages, kitchen large and well equipped but we spent every evening outside with the barbecue.
Weather was amazing: we had 36-37 degrees on a few days and the pool was perfect, but beware lack of a/c means it can get hot at night so you need the fans on. The pool house would really benefit from a loo as it can get really frustrating taking little ones all the way back to the house....
The games barn has table tennis, table football and darts plus bikes for all ages (some really good suggested bike rides in the welcome pack and anything heading north was flat as a pancake).
The local markets were worth a trip - there was a nice meat van that seemed to appear at a few of them with an English woman on the counter and gave the BBQ done variety.
Location really is very quiet and the middle of nowhere - you can't walk to any shops, bars, restaurants etc which might be an issue for some, but the big supermarket is <10 mins drive. The fields around were full of sunflowers and beautiful. La Rochelle was worth a day trip as was Vallée des Singes which was only 15 mins drive. They really do have monkeys in the trees all around you!
The team that Claire has looking after the properties came and introduced themselves and were very friendly.
Just one tip: we didn't discover the free 'welcome baguettes' standing in the wooden container until it was too late!
Superb ... I very much hope we will return
We knew instantly upon arriving that we were going to have a great holiday. The cottage is excellent. Great care has been taken with everything from the furnishings to the local guide. Every morning started with breakfast ourside in the sun. Day time by the pool or sitting in the shade when the sun too hot. In the evening we played table tennis and darts whilst the barbecue cooked away and relaxed as the sun came down; many times wandering off to view the simply magnificent fields of sunflowers. We felt truly looked after from beginning to end. Thank you for such a great holiday.
Lovely Gite ideally located for exploring the area
We had a lovely relaxing break at Arbre de Cerise with our four children. The pool was super and the kids also made great use of the games room despite the very hot weather. The house had everything we required and we found lots to do in the area including some nice restaurants in the local towns. Futuroscope was a highlight too. Overall, this is a very nicely restored building with top class furniture and fittings, well maintained and with modern comforts.
Wonderful holiday with all the family
It took a while to find the perfect place for our combination of family but this property was literally made for us.
There was all the modcons you would expect and all the homely extras you would like. The UK TV was a nice extra to have if you wanted to watch TV in the evening.
The pool was about the best we've had on this type of holiday and was great that it was heated for the kids. We spent most of our time out there enjoying it and having BBQ's in the evening.
The booking process was really easy and Claire, the owner was great to deal with.
I can say we'll definitely be back 😀.
We really enjoyed having the bikes, which there was a huge supply of. The garden was so big and great for the kids to run around in.
