About Jane Cox

We're a family of 4 and we own Glendoick garden centre in Perthshire. Ken writes books on horticulture while Jane retired from the world of London publishing to help run the family business. We have two boys, Jamie and Finn.

Jane Cox purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Jane Cox chose Fife

When I came to Scotland and discovered the East Neuk, it was like discovering a wonderful secret. I imagine this is what Devon and Cornwall must have been like 50 years ago: full of character, unspoilt, and just beautiful...

What makes this apartment unique

Quite frankly, the best sea view you could ever wish for. What's so special about it is that it changes all the time, with the tides, the weather, the light...you just can't beat it.

When it's cold, there's a pretty wood-burning stove to warm yourselves. When it's warm, you can just open the windows and smell the sea.

The owner is a keen art collector and she has furnished the flat as if it were her own home with unique art and bespoke pieces she has collected over the years.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely week in Anstruther thank you. The flat was perfect you had done to a very high standard and very good taste; it was also in a great location. I loved the furnishings and sitting in the window seats in the evening with a glass of wine looking out to sea. We will definitely recommend it to others and hope to return again another year. Emma Gordon

You've thought of everything: I loved sitting on those window seats and looking out and listening to the sea. It was like home from home. Angie Sands.

Everything needed was there, lovely touches with the decor (I've been a contract interior designer all my working life, so take that as the highest praise!) and it felt like home. The first morning we were there and I awoke, snuggled under the duvet, to the sound of the sea with the pale winter sunlight filtering through the blind into this pretty white room - had I died in the night and gone to heaven? It was bliss. Anne McIntosh.

Beautiful location, lovely apartment. Considering

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful Scottish Holiday!!! The apartment is fabulous with everything needed for a Self Catering. Everything was so well set out it felt like home. Our 2&5 year olds loved the seaside find and seek - we couldn't find the razor clam but did find an extra hermit crab. We really loved this idea and it really helped to settle the children into an unfamiliar environment. We beached, we walked, ate and played.

Keelie castle was lovely, We can recommend the yummyness of the Cheese farm just up the road, the fresh Strawberry's were delicious, Elie beach was beautiful and so clean (plus we managed to be there on the most glorious sunny day it was like being in t Med). We recommend Craigtoun park boats, mini train, trampoline, bouncy castles and more.

The area is beautiful and we are considering booking for next year. Fingers crossed for the same Sunshine ( one day of drizzle/rain was impressive).

The owner was helpful, avaliable (even with her being on her own holiday) and we would defiantly recommend to friends and strangers alike.

Thank you again for a Holiday to remember

Perfection

Absolutely beautiful flat right on the seafront. Outstanding views, we could have sat in the windows seats all day.

I read reviews that said this is a home from home. I promise you, it really is. Leave your buckets and spades behind and make use of the ones supplied for you!

Do you like to read? There are lots of books to choose from.

There are shelves of DVDs suitable for my kids aged 5&8 and also my husband and I.

The flat is enormous, lovely and bright. The double room is big with ample room for a travel cot (or 3!)if you need one.

The twin room is so cute and cosy, your children will love it.

There are some wondeful touches and a lot of thought that has gone into the decor. My children loved spotting the animals hidden around. We found them all....will you?

Anstruther is a gorgeous village. Lovely beach on your doorstep...I am not kidding...I'd say door to beach in 1-2minuteso depending how fast you go!!! Ice cream shop around the corner and a great fish shop. We had a wonderful holiday visit our friends, and are very much hoping to return to this stunning accommodation. I'm crossing my fingers it's not booked up.

Magical experience

  • 5 of 5

This is such a special place, a beautiful flat in the perfect location. Although the flat is gorgeous, I spent most of my time gazing through its windows, mesmerised by the sea and the life of the beach below. I was in need of a peaceful haven, that's how Jane described it, and that's exactly what it turned out to be.

(The Anstruther Fish Bar lives up to all the hype, by the way. Best fish supper I've had in years.)

Our Fife Holiday

  • 5 of 5

On our first visit to Fife in May we stayed a week in the top floor flat in this lovely Georgian building on the sea front. It is very centrally located with stunning views from the windows over the Firth of Forth. A warm, welcoming flat with everything you may need either a couple or a family. Spacious accommodation, well maintained and clean. Interesting art work including miniature paintings of sea life hidden in each of the rooms to be discovered by curious minds. Booking and key collection was easy and well organised. The information in the flat was useful and practical. Anstruther itself was a good base for visiting other villages close by and is also famous for its fish and chips which we enjoyed. We would definitely stay again if visiting this part of Scotland.

Lovely spacious flat with perfect location

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely couple of days in this flat in Anstruther. The location is perfect with a gorgeous sea view. The spacious flat had everything you would need including equipment for a baby - cot, high chair etc. We particularly liked the wood burning stove for cosy evenings in. The flat is decorated with lovely art and the kids enjoyed the hunt for the miniature sea life paintings. I would certainly recommend it and I'm looking forward to rebooking.
