Farmhouse in St Hilaire des Loges, Vendee, Pays De La Loire - Rural Location in Spacious Grounds

La Maison Jaune is a beautifully renovated farmhouse which has been converted into a gite and is set in approximately three acres of land. Within the grounds is a spacious (12m x 6m) heated salt water swimming pool, a table tennis area, swings and slide and a covered seating area by the pool. The heated pool is completely fenced with an automatic closing gate and has a terrace area with a selection of sun loungers. Next to the pool is the covered seating area, a table tennis area and the swings and slide. The pool is set in the corner of a large, flat field which can be used for ball games and just running around. La Maison Jaune is situated approximately five minutes drive from St Hilaire des Loges, which has a number of small shops, a bar and restaurant. The nearest large town, Fontenay Le Comte, is within easy reach (approximately 15 minute drive). We are fully registered and insured as a 'micro-enterprise' in France.

Retreat for weary bikers

We stayed at the Gite for 4 nights (6 people) while exploring the area on motorcycles.

The Gite is beautifully restored and provided a wonderful place for us to rest after a great time riding the roads of the Vendee and Bordeaux, with secluded parking for the bikes.

Thank you Mark, Marian and Amelie for your hospitality, we would love to come again.

A jewel in the crown

As a family of 10 (six adults and 4 children) ages ranging from 2 - 69, this was the perfect home for our holiday. I cannot praise the accommodation enough. The farmhouse has been tastefully refurbished and we had masses of room to feel extremely comfortable. Each family had their own bathroom and again these were so spacious with excellent showers. The children did not want to leave the house and pool to visit anywhere else and the parents had super evenings outside (whilst the children were well within earshot) cooking BBQs and having fun! The youngest children were also very happy to find a toy box in the dining room which kept them entertained. I must say having our own private pool was luxurious and fabulous! We were all in it every day and often twice a day. We even had a boules and table tennis competition and the children would alternate between the pool and swing/slide on site. Marian, Mark and Amelie were the perfects 'landlords' and were very informative about the area. Although living next door to the gite, they were never intrusive but it was a comfort to know they were only a short distance away. Our family was so content and happy there that I am ashamed to say the only 'touring' we did was to the supermarket............... I strongly recommend this beautiful home and I don't think the photographs truly do it justice. If I had the chance to return again then I would do so without a second thought - thank you Marian and Mark.

Top notch accomodation and fabulous pool

We have stayed at this property many times, and never tire of it. The accomodation is clean and comfortable, and a real home from home for us. The pool is a good size and heated, so that you can have a proper swim. The location is wonderful, within easy reach of the coast, and with plenty of interesting towns and villages around. We are keen cyclists, and the area is ideal for riding, with loads of quiet lanes, and excellent, well signposted cycling routes. Mark and Marian, and now Amelie, are wonderful hosts. They have perfected the art of being available without being intrusive. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

first holiday in the vendee

absolutely wonderful property and location. The gite was fully equipped and the pool was great. The owners provide an amazing on-site service and are extremely helpful and welcoming.There were plenty of things to do in the locality and the provision of bikes made it easy to get out and about. A very peaceful, relaxing holiday- thanks to owners. I would recommend this property without question and would hope to go back.

Perfect.

This gite is fantastic. It has everything you need for your holiday. It is clean and well kept.

The pool is brilliant, it has a child proof gate for safety. There is so much space for the kids to run around and plenty to keep them occupied. Mark and Marian are great hosts, very helpful if you need anything. The area is very quiet and private and you can explore the nearby villages on the bikes safely. We didn't want to leave and definitely hope to be back.

Coast/Beach:

The driving time to the nearest beach is about 60 minutes. Our favourite is Chatelaillion-Plage, with a long sandy beach and a great promenade for walking or jogging along. There are a number of lovely restaurants overlooking the sea. The chic port town of La Rochelle is a 60 minute drive with hundreds of shops and restaurants and from here you can access the Ile De Ré by a bridge. It is ideal for surfing, cycling or just lounging on the many sandy beaches.

Travel:

The nearest airports are La Rochelle, Nantes or Poitiers.

The nearest ferry ports are St Malo (approximately a 3 hour drive), Caen (approximately 4 hours drive) and Le Havre (approximately 5 hours drive).

A car is essential for your stay.

Distances:

We are surrounded by historic villages and towns. Our nearest village is St Hilaire des Loges which is within 3km.

The historic village of Foussais-Payré is just 4km and Vouvant with its Tour de Melusine is just 13kms away.

Puy De Fou, the largest theme park in Europe is just over an hours drive away but it is a great 'spectacle'.

The changeover day is Saturday, but out of high season we can be flexible with this. Arrival time is from 1700 onwards and on your day of departure please leave the farmhouse by 1000, unless otherwise arranged with the owners.

Notes on accommodation: For the babies we have a nappy changing table and baby bath. If you require more than one cot or high chair we are happy to supply these at no cost, please let us know. We have many items for 'Tots and Toddlers', please see our website. Outside: Within the spacious grounds is the fully fenced heated pool, with a self closing gate. The pool is 12m x 6m and is surrounded by a paved terrace on two sides with plenty of sunloungers, umbrellas and individual tables. Next to the pool are the swings and slide, shaded seating area and table tennis area. There is also a large flat field for all those outdoor games. We have a number of adult bikes you can use to tour the area. Utility Room: The iron, ironing board and clothes drying racks are stored under the stairs in the kitchen. There is a washing line outside. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The towels, tea-towels and linen are all included in the price. Please bring your own pool towels. The linen and towels are all changed on a weekly basis, if required. Other: The separate dining room has a large table and seating for 12. The dining room hosts the games cupboard with a good selection of games for all the family. We also have a number of arm bands and other pool swimming aids.
