A modern villa based in a small quiet village called Podi. It is 2km away from the sandy beaches of Meljine. The ground floor has a large open plan living space, including a kitchen/ dining room, living room and bathroom. The first floor has 3 bedrooms, living room with a sofa bed and another bathroom. There is a terrace from each bedroom, with beautiful views of the sea and Hercegnovi. There is also wifi in the house, as well as air condition upstairs and extra fans if necessary. There is also a private swimming pool, which is cleaned daily by the maintenance man. Depending on which month you go, you may be able to collect pomegranates, figs, grapes, oranges or lemons from the beautiful garden around the house. Everything is Montenegro is relatively close and quick to get, so you will not be lacking activities. Places such as Kotor and Perast make beautiful day trips!
We are based in England but are originally from Montenegro and love spending our holidays there. As our time in Montenegro is limited by the lengths of school holidays, we would like to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy our villa and the nature of the Boka Kotorska Bay.
Dusanka purchased this villa in 2000
The house is located in a beautiful village, which is ideal for families with children. There is a lot of outdoor space, with a variety of plants, trees and flowers. All this allows you to have a good quality time.
The house is located in a very convenient place, it's comfortable and there is plenty of fresh air. The swimming pool enables you to spend all day relaxing around, without having to go anywhere.

We really enjoyed staying in the villa, it is very spacious and comfortable and we loved the view from the balcony and the terrace. We did a lot of travelling the first part of the holiday but covered everything we wanted to do. We absolutely loved the Kotor bay area- fantastic, Perast is beautiful and we went back the second week for a lovely meal in the Skolji restaurant one evening. We had a lovely mountain lunch 3,300 feet up overlooking the whole of the fjord area, the famous cured ham and smoked cheese..was delicious and worth all the hairpin bends to see that view!! The boat trip out on Lake Skadar was also very special and we have some lovely photos of it.The views all over Montenegro are really spectacular in places- there were lots of "wows" and "its amazing" and "stop the car Dad for a photo"!! We also really enjoyed the rafting on the Tara was great fun!! Thank you for organizing that for us and also the accommodation with your mother. It was lovely to meet her and you and Tasha with your family, it really made the trip more personal and we appreciated the lovely breakfast your mother cooked for us and the drinks provided. We found the people very hospitable in the north, and also had a lovely traditional meal after the rafting too, the people were very warm and friendly. Although there was a language barrier with Mulitin he did look after us and we usually somehow made him understand, he enjoyed having a cigarette with Mike!
So we really enjoyed the holiday and all our friends are very interested to hear how we got on and to see the photos, it really is a hidden gem in the Adriatic
Thank you again and look forward to hearing from you soon,
We were immediately captivated by Dusanka’s instructions which might have come from a John Le Carre novel: once you cross the border, you will be met at a petrol station by a man called Milutin who also speaks Russian; follow him to a little village called Podi… Turned out there was a practical reason for this - house numbers or even road names are sometimes in short supply in parts of Montenegro – one of its many charms. We quickly found the best approach was to relax and go with the flow. The address-less villa turned out to be very clean which is always a good sign. Upstairs, the quirkiness of having a separate entrance wasn’t an issue & the air conditioning meant the 5 of us had few problems sleeping at night on the comfortable beds, despite the weather most days being a welcome 32 degrees. Downstairs, the electric fan was needed in the kitchen, which has a large dining table, though it was also nice to eat at the table outside (the road noise didn't bother us). Similarly there are lounge areas upstairs and downstairs, the latter having a TV (with some English language channels) and a DVD player.
Outside there is a nice balcony (good for enjoying the fantastic view, star gazing or watching distant lightning displays, as we found) and of course the pool, which the children loved, and was very welcome after reading on the sun loungers for a while. There is both sun and shade in the garden as a result of the amazing range of fruit trees. The pool is diligently tended by the aforementioned Milutin who is lovely, and very helpful, though most of our conversations were inevitably in sign language.
Kotor bay is so large it has almost no tide once you’re away from the mouth, with the consequence that the absence of waves makes swimming easy but beaches stony (swim socks recommended). While there is swimming at Herceg Novi, we preferred Morinje and Risan. We also enjoyed day trips to the little alleyways of Kotor, over the mountains towards Niksik (go for the astonishing landscape rather than the city), over the border to beautiful Dubrovnik in Croatia, and to the charming Trebinje in Eastern Herzegovina. (A point to note: if you are there in the height of summer, it is advisable to leave early for day trips for reasons of heat, ease of parking, and - especially if crossing borders -shorter waiting times. otherwise be ready for long delays). We highly recommend both Montenegro & the villa. Thank you, Dusanka!
As a family of 3 we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the villa. All was exceptionally clean when we arrived & the pool do inviting we had to have a swim before unpacking! The upstairs and downstairs of the villa were served by separate entrances which was a surprise but not a problem st all. Inside all the rooms were spacious and the upstairs sitting area a bonus.
The villa was ideally located for visiting lots of wonderful towns all dotted around the bay of Kotor and also for visiting Dubronik over the border in Ctoatia. The sir conditioning unit upstairs was welcomed and if there had been one downstairs we would have given the villa a 5 star review. We just found it a little hot downstairs even with the fan, but we are not used to the heat! Others may not experience the heat as much. Owner was quick to respond to emails and texts pre holiday and making payment was very straightforward. At the villa we were looked after by Milutin who cleaned the pool each day. Would highly recommend to others travelling to this area!
