Large house in Ferrals-les-Corbieres, nr. Carcassonne, Languedoc Roussillon, France - Quiet Location
About Nicola Hillman
We fell in love with Graffan at first sight. The property itself feels like a real home and it is situated in the most idyllic spot on the edge of a beautiful village. All within walking distance, the village boasts a michelin rated restaurant, a bar/restaurant, village shop, boulangerie, post office and even a very small cinema! There are tennis courts, a boules pitch and even the local rugby pitch within a stones throw of the i haven't even mentioned the stunning River Orbieu that runs in front of the house.

Why Nicola Hillman chose Ferrals-les-Corbières
Before buying Domaine de Graffan we spent many years renting properties in the area. Very often we found the large beautiful properties with landscaped gardens were enjoyed at the expense of the location. With large family groups one needs not to have to get in the car to go for bread, a glass of wine, a restaurant meal, a pizza takeaway, to play tennis/football or visit the local supermarket... and most importantly the local wine Cave! When we found Graffan it's location on the edge of the village was a real selling point for us.
What makes this House unique
The locals are very friendly, and very French. The little centre is a hive of activity in the mornings but the village seems to sleep in the afternoons, affording the peace and quiet we so often crave. When in the garden or playing music we ask guests to be respectful of this quiet time.

Fantastic spacious house in great location
The house was fantastic and had everything we needed and more than enough bedrooms and space. The pool was great, clean and well serviced. The location was good and we managed to learn a lot about the local area. To be honest, I would struggle to find anything wrong with it, it was a perfect holiday home for us!
Amazing holiday, great house
I've stayed in this house 5 times and each time it never fails to deliver. I've been with family and kids, and friends no kids, and it works for both.
When you've got the kids, its perfect - plenty of places to visit near by, but the ultimate day is just being at the house, kids in pool, adults just hanging out.
Great kitchen with everything you need, tonnes of space in the house - you're not going to trip up over each other if you tried. Peaceful, and just a lovely feel. You very quickly forget about home, worries and work, and truly know you're on holiday.
With a bunch of buddies its the same - visit Narbonne market, buy some amazing food and then laze by the pool. Or take the bikes out through vineyards to the local villages if you fancy a change of scenery.
The locals are friendly, the pub is good and the bakery is a stone throws away just case you need to consume some more calories in the form of croissant.
I know its good to try and visit new places, but I just cant help going back time and time and time again. My absolute favourite place in Europe, and when I'm there I feel like I'm home instantly, as I did the first time I stayed here. I cant recommend it enough.
Peaceful haven in idylic setting
A lovely house with loads of character, a proper home. Everything has been thought of and it was all very clean. The pool and outside space is perfect to sit around and enjoy. There are some great cycle rides in the area and plenty of places to visit whilst out driving.
Wonderful home in a peaceful and pretty setting
This is the second time we have stayed in this wonderful home. We returned as we loved the house. It is a beautiful old stone wine domaine set in grounds surrounded by trees and colourful shrubs which make the outside area not only private but just a lovely place to be. The pool is a very good size whether you want to exercise or just bob about and enjoy the peace. After our walks and bike rides - to local villages and the surrounding countryside -we spent most days just lazing around here chatting, reading, eating and drinking. It is worth visiting Narbonne's Cathedrale Saint-Just et Saint Pasteur as well as the renowned Les Halles Market, supposed to be one of the best in Languedoc as well as the medieval citadel of Carcassonne with its history and architecture, wonderful restaurants and its own covered market.
The house itself is lovely, as it is says in the details, it has a welcoming and cosy feel as you step in side which belies its size. It has been stylishly but simply furnished and all the bedrooms and bathrooms have a fresh feel to them. It is spotlessly clean and, you can tell, lovingly looked after.
We would certainly go back yet again to this property - our holidays have been great 'pick you ups' for us both and we loved the mix of relaxation, exercise and
A French haven off the tourist trail.
We stayed here for a truly relaxing week with a group of friends. We spent most of the week chilling out by the pool and cooking and eating together. The house allows you to be together as a big group or disappear off into rooms for a bit of piece and quiet. When we occasionally ventured out from the garden it felt like we were living in a typical French village, away from the tourist trail. One night my husband and I wandered out to a restaurant in the town for a very special meal at En Catimini. A family run restaurant with stunning French cuisine. I would definitely return for another holiday here again.
A wonderful holiday sanctuary
We loved the the house itself, the setting, and the location. The house has a strong aesthetic appeal while at the same time managing to be comfortable, relaxing and family-friendly. It was great fun exploring the area, both by bike, and by car. Felt rejuvenated after our stay and would definitely recommend it highly!
