About Jeanette Giacomini or Dana Valconesi

My three brothers and I grew up in this ranch house which was built by our parents in 1950. The house was part of a working dairy until 2007. The ranch pasture lands have been purchased by the federal government and are being restored to wetlands as part of the Point Reyes National Seashore.

After the death of our parents we decided to convert the house to a vacation rental so that we could afford to maintain it and continue to have access to it for family members. Profits from the rental are used to fund scholarships for local high students.

Jeanette Giacomini or Dana Valconesi purchased this house in 1950

What makes this house unique

The house is within walking distance to the center of the village of Point Reyes Station and yet is secluded enough to provide the peace and quiet necessary for a relaxing getaway. The area offers spectacular scenery and many opportunities for outdoor activities.

Paradise in Point Reyes

  • 5 of 5

We had a mini-family reunion in Pt. Reyes over Presidents Day weekend and could not have been more pleased with the ranch! The house is well stocked, the beds are incredibly comfortable, there is lots of privacy, great views and it is so peaceful and quiet. Dana and Jeanette were courteous and very responsive to any questions or needs. Can't wait to get back!

Spacious, extremely well-stocked, beautiful home that provided a wonderful 70th Bday for 10

  • 5 of 5

Thanks so much Dana for your gracious hospitality. You were always available and sooo friendly. The house was spic and span with everything one could want from age toddler to senior citizen. Want to read, there are magazines and books. Want to play, there are board games, ping pong and shuffle board. Want the electronics, there is WiFi and cable TV. Want to hike or go to the beach, all are nearby. Comfortable beds, well stocked dishes and utensils. Short walk to main street Point Reyes for yummy restaurants, bakeries, grocery, etc. We had a wonderful, large family birthday reunion and would definitely come again

Truly wonderful house for a family gathering

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Waldo's Ranch from December 27 to 31, 2017. There were 9 of us ranging from young adult to whatever I am at 72. Seven stayed in the house, and two came with a VW Camper they parked in the capacious parking area. The ranch looks west, out on the wetland at the south end of Tomales Bay, and the vews are magnificent. The property is on the west edge of Pt Reyes Station, and about a 2 minute walk from Cathy's Creamery among other fantastic cafes, restaurants, and the like in town. We enjoyed a number of coffees while passing through or stopping in the town. We had one exceptionally good meal at Osteria Stellina, which is only 5 minutes walk from the ranch.

At the ranch you would never know you are so very close to all that small town fun. It is a bucolic place, with easy driving access to the Pt. Reyes National Seashore. We had one excellent walk to Limantour Beach and back with a picnic on the beach. Notable sightings were of a hawk with gopher snake in its talons flying over the windshield at the parking lot/trailhead for that walk, and a bobcat crossing our path on the way back from the beach. Our four dinners at the large table in the much larger kitchen were jolly affairs, and we played a number of games at the table in the main sitting room. There are two sitting rooms, one with a great fireplace, and one with a large screen TV-out of the way of non-football fans during our time. Some of us watched a few bowl games.

Waldo's Ranch is altogether a gorgeous, happy, restful place. We were very lucky to have sunny weather, which is not normal for late December, I think. It was a bit chilly for swiming in the pool, but some of the family enjoyed games in the game room next to the pool. The barbecue is excellent, and we used it four nights in a row....

Many thanks to the Giacomini family for providing this exceptional vacation home!

50th wedding anniversary family weekend!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented Waldo's Ranch for our 50th anniversary celebration over Labor Day weekend. We felt it would be the perfect fit for our family of 6 adults and 3 active grandsons, and it was!! When we arrived early on Friday afternoon ,my husband and I found that the dining room was decorated with all kinds of wonderful Happy 50th decorations (including a small bride and groom cake topper), wall hangings, and two bottles of wine (with bride and groom coverings!) in the refrigerator !! To say that we were surprised and delighted would be an understatement! What an awesome welcome!

Although the temps were soaring, it was such fun to all be in the pool ,where we spent the better part of each day. Our boys perfected their cannon ball jumps and the adults just enjoyed being wet and cool. The enclosed patio area was perfect for late night pizza and ping pong games. The house is large enough that you never feel crowded with room for many activities going on at one time. That's hard to find!

The owner Jeanette, and property manager Dana(decorator extraordinaire) were so delightful to work with. They would respond quickly when I called with a question and were so very accommodating. We felt so welcomed in the house.Thank you both for helping to make our celebration such a memorable one !!

We would recommend renting Waldo's Ranch to anyone . It is a close drive to so many places or perfect for just staying put, as we did. We enjoyed walking into town each morning for a pastry treat from the Bovine Bakery--we ordered our anniversary cake from them and it was delicious. We went to 2 of the restaurants in town , and the grocery store has everything you might need . We took a short drive into the town of Olema and enjoyed Hog Island oysters and local smoked trout one day for lunch!

Waldo's Ranch is truly a special place ,I gave it 5 stars but really it was a 10 for us!

WOW! A magical place.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this amazing property for our annual week-long reunion with our 3 adult kids in mid-August, and it couldn't have been better.

The spacious house has an endless, gorgeous view of the surrounding hills and wetlands, with hiking trails and park land just outside the door. It's a quick 3-5 minute walk into the town of Pt. Reyes Station, with stand out restaurants and shops, a first class book store and bakery, and a short drive to endless destinations and outdoor activities. Not to mention, just over an hour from all that San Francisco has to offer! Perfect for our family.

The house itself is unique, with plenty of space for solitude and/or group fun. It comes complete with a huge indoor pool area and separate ping pong/game room. Fantastic for Dad and grown sons, who are super ping-pong competitors. The house is fully equipped (and then some) with everything you need for a comfortable week's stay.

Let me repeat, we LOVE this location and will return. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is the slightly dated interior of the house, and an odd bedroom/bath configuration (the bedroom at the front end of the house has its own bath that isn't easy to access from the others, so 3 bedrooms, including master, tend to share the remaining bath). But don't let that stop you from enjoying this truly magical property and location. It's well worth it.
