About Judy Crombie
Villa Meliha is owned by the McGrigor family. Judy (teacher) and Alastair (lawyer) fell in love with Dalyan when they went out to visit friends who have a villa there in 2006. They were so smitten with the charms of Dalyan that they put down a deposit on a plot of land and built their dream villa in a pretty orange grove between Dalyan and the Iztuzu (turtle) beach. The McGrigors have 2 sons - Matt (25) and Craig (22) who have brought their friends out for some great summer holidays and Judy enjoys bringing a gang of girlfriends to the villa for the ultimate chill out holiday in the late spring. The McGrigors enjoy visiting the villa out of season when Dalyan is a bit cooler as there is some great hiking and biking and also they have made lots of friends, both villa owners and locals.

Why Judy Crombie chose Ortaca
We arrived in Dalyan one early evening in August 06 and before our feet touched the ground we were whisked off to the riverside Sahil restaurant where the magic began. The view of the illuminated rock tombs carved into the cliff face, surrounded by the starlit skies took our breath away. As we dined by the waters edge, river boats chugged passed and another, a solar powered one simply glided by. Kemal treated us to such warm hospitality that night that we felt like old friends towards the end of the evening. It was to be one of many enchanting evenings in Dalyan.

Being a preservation and protected area it is totally unspoilt and non-commercialised. By car it is a 10 minute drive. There is also a mini bus service from the village but the best way to the beach is by river boat taxi which takes 30 minutes but it is well worth it as you travel along the meandering river delta through the reed beds and you can spot a host of wildlife. Local taxis are very good too for getting around in Dalyan and some of the restaurants will even collect you. Distances: Dalyan is a 5 minute journey by car. Orteca the nearest town is 20 minutes away, Fethiye and Oludeniz and Gocek marina are 45-50 minutes away. In the opposite direction Marmaris is about the same distance and Rhodes can be accessed from here by ferry. Further Details: Dalyan lies on the edge of the Dalyan Canal which joins the large inland Koycegiz lake with the Aegean/Mediterranean Sea at the point of the famous Iztuzu (Turtle) Beach where the Loggerhead Turtles lay their eggs each summer. Across from the river from the town are the Lycian Rock Tombs carved into the cliff face, slightly further downstream is the ancient city of Kaunos, just a few of the local historic attractions. Dalyan is also an ideal location for exploring the local coast line, with its own shallow child friendly beach and with many secluded bays nearby such as the snorkeling havens of Ekincik and Asi Bays. Nearby is also the sailing town of Gocek from where you can enjoy a day spent exploring the 12-Islands of Fethiye Bay.
