About Rosalind Stafferton
Ros Stafferton: it had been my dream to have a place in Italy since I was a teenager. In 2000 it came true as we bought and lovingly restored La Casa Giallo, a villa with stunning views that had housed its own olive press and sold the oil. We now we have three children (aged 12, 10 and 8) and visit as often and as long as we can. We think it's a lovely place and hope you do too!
Rosalind Stafferton purchased this Villa in 2000
Why Rosalind Stafferton chose Fivizzano
We were seduced by the stunning beauty of the mountain and valley views, as well as the proximity to the coast and medieval cities for which Tuscany is famed. We also love the fact that our villa is rural, that the children have to create their own entertainment and re-discover the simple joy of a star-filled night or cow bell during the day. And, of course, we love the fact that the house is large enough to easily accommodate friends and family with plenty of room to spare.
What makes this Villa unique
Clear country air, stunning views whether from the terraces or swimming pool, an idyllic rural setting with a medieval town just minutes by car, world famous cities of Pisa, Lucca and Florence easy to visit in a day and a beautiful coastline 45 mins by car.

We all very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return.
Lovely house with stunning views
The house was lovely, we felt at home as soon as we arrived. All the bedrooms were comfortable, with very comfortable beds! The view to wake up to from the double rooms was the best I have ever seen. We made great use of the pool, especially with the really hot weather we had. It was cleaned and well maintained every day. One tiny niggle - the sunbeds were a bit low for someone with dodgy knees, but it gave the kids a great laugh watching me trying to get up. The location was superb, and getting to places such as Pisa and Florence was no problem by car. Both families had a great holiday, we wish we could have stayed longer and would love to return another year.
Spacious accommodation, rustic, attractive, but needing some attention to the kitchen.
Wonderful location, breathtaking views of mountains across the valley. Isolated in natural rural countryside and farmland. Lovely pool.
tranquil villa in spectacular location
We spent a lovely week in this fantastic villa.
The 4 children enjoyed the pool. The 4 adults soaked up the stunning views whilst sipping delicious local wines. All 8 of us cleared our London lungs with the clean mountain air.
The villa was clean, well equipped and attractively decorated.
Although situated in a remote tranquil spot it was within driving distance to numerous local attractions.
I would strongly recommend this villa to anyone who desires peace and quiet in a stunning location.
We had a fantastic week at this villa. It has stunning views, great accommodation and a perfect pool in it's spacious garden.
The neighbours were very friendly and even had a puppy that kept the children happy. Breathtaking walks from the villa and gorgeous villages which were just a short drive away with local reasonably priced restaurants.
Would definitely recommend staying here.
Thanks so much!
45 mins by car to the beautiful local beaches of San Terenzo, Lerici and Fiascherino, where pedalos can be hired. 1 hour to Porto Venere for harbour, beach swimming and fish restaurants or the Cinque Terre offering both sea, excellent food and walking.
The villa is perfectly situated for day trips to some of Tuscany's gems including Pisa, Lucca and Florence, with less well known medieval towns of Carrara (from where Michel Angelo sourced the marble for his David), Pistoia (giving the word, pistol) and Pontremoli all offering interest to the curious traveller.
Pisa, Parma and Genoa airports are all approximately 1½ hours. Bologna is also an option at 2 1/4 hours. Car hire is essential, although a bus does go past the beginning of the road to Virolo.
Agnino is the nearest village where warm bread can be bought each morning at the one stop shop also selling cheese, ham and various dried goods. Fivizzano, a local medieval town with piazza, pizzeria and gelataria (as well as other restaurants and shops) is just 10 mins by car. Other local towns of interest include Pontremoli with its ancient Stelle and Carrara, famous for its marble, each 40 mins by car. Lucca and Pisa are 1 hour or so by car whilst Florence is just 1¾ by car or a similar time by train. The beaches and coastal towns are 45 minutes away.
Full complement of shops, supermarkets, banks, restaurants and bars in Fivizzano. Bike hire and horse riding available locally. Extensive opportunities for hill walking through to serious climbing. Sailing is inexpensive at a nearby lake in the hills.
