The basement of the villa has been very nicely done to create an big games room with sleeping for 1 additional person in a sofa-bed and the 4th bedroom is also on the same level. This level houses the 4th bathroom. This games room is on the same level as the pool and the outdoor traditional BBQ lies just to the right.
A 4th bedroom was recently added to the house that is situated just off the games room and is very conveniently placed for rest and relaxation on the same level as the pool and games room.
There is a driveway that connects the gate to the main house and is passes a small garden, fruit orchard with Pear and orange trees.
Portugal is a country of diverse landscapes, festivities, friendly people and a wealth of history. It is the westernmost country of Europe and has a population of 10.5 million people and is the nation with which Britain enjoys its oldest alliance dating back to the late 1300’s.
The Silver Coast stretches from just south of Porto till the northern parameter of the Lisbon coast is know as Costa da Prata or Silver Coast. This is to do with the shimmering quality of the Atlantic waters in the sunshine. Some of the country's most impressive architecture, historical and religious sites can be found in this region.
On the coastline, large and spectacular beaches mix with little quaint fishing towns and villages, of which Nazaré is one of the finest examples. Further inland, fertile country stretches along the banks of rivers like the Tagus, producing livestock and crops from grapes to fruit and rice.
Coimbra, the birthplace of six kings and the seat of the country's oldest university, fascinates with its historical associations, and nearby you can visit the largest excavated Roman site in Portugal, Conímbriga. The Silver Coast is still regarded as quite special for the average tourist or traveler because it offers a unique and enchanting view of an older more gentle country completely at ease with itself and the outside world.
Visitors will feel a sense of ease and complete relaxation as the pace slackens and the mind takes in all that clean fresh air and fine weather.
The great pilgrimage town of Fatima lies just 90 minutes north of Lisbon and is within easy reach of a clutch of other world heritage sites like Tomar, Alcobaca and Batalha.
Caldas da Rainha
The town was founded by Dona Leonor, Queen of Portugal in 1485 as a centre for thermal cures, a bountiful fruit farming area and a productive ceramic industry. Dona Leonor chose this location as the centre for her personal creation, the charitable foundation 'Fundação da Misericórdia' is still very active in Portugal today.
Apart from its colourful history, Caldas da Rainha is also a very friendly and pleasant town with first rate amenities, quaint old streets with trendy cafes and modern shopping facilities, great seafood restaurants and an old bull fighting arena right in the heart of town.
Óbidos is a medieval walled town, which enjoys a magnificent state of repair as a result of its status as the 'traditional gift' from Portuguese kings to their wives. The monarchy however, was overthrown only in 1910 but Óbidos reflects the benefits of its patronage until these relatively recent times. Within the walls are fascinating old alleys, and cobbled streets which have become home to high-class handicraft and gift shops as well as bars and restaurants of repute. It is often regarded as jewel in Portugal crown and is visited by over 3.5 million visitors through the course of the year.
The town is full of history and culture but has a very vibrant local community that takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming space for guests from all over the world. The imposing 12th century monastery at the centre dominates Alcobaça, a small town situated roughly 100 km to the North of Lisbon in a fertile agricultural region dotted here and there with gentle hills. Two rivers, the Alcoa and the Baça, (a tributary of the Alcoa runs through the monastery's kitchen) gave the town its name of Alcobaca.
The world famous Marian Shrine at Fatima is one of the three most sacred pilgrimage site for Catholics and attracts over 6 million visitors each year. The complex bears a close resemblance to St. Peter's Square in the Vatican and is no less imposing in its proportions. The town of Fatima is no more than a clutch of shops, cafes and restaurants that revolve entirely round the year round traffic of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.
It is the most famous fishing town in Portugal. The Phoenicians had first settled here as early as 12 BC. Today their descendants can be seen going out to fish the sea in boats with high curved prows painted with eyes, a relic of an ancient cult. Located high on the cliff overlooking the town is Sítio, reached by a funicular railway that climbs 110 metres to the top. Featuring two Baroque belfries and fine 18th-century tiles inside, the 17th-century shrine of Our Lady of Nazaré looks down on a spectacular view of the bay.
If you are visiting Lisbon we would suggest that you leave your car at the airport and get a cab into town. Cabs are plentiful and cheap and if you get one up to the highest point in the city at the 'Castelo São Jorge' castle you can save yourself a wearying climb! Remember - it is always hotter in Lisbon. The views from the top over the Tejo river and the city are spectacular. Although Lisbon has become a major cosmopolitan destination it still retains some of the atmosphere of a village.

This villa exceeded all our expectations. The views from the terrace over the lagoon and out to sea were breathtaking and we miss watching the sunsets in the evening.
We spent many evenings watching the activities on the lagoon from the yacht club which was only a short walk away and also provided good food.
The facilities at the villa were excellent and the pool was a large size and the kids loved it. We spent nearly every day by the pool as couldn't drag the family away from it.
The nearby town is walking distance but easier to drive. There are many restaurants there which provide good and affordable food.
I cannot recommend this villa enough and which I could keep it a secret! The owners were also delightful and very helpful.
Thanks for your kind remarks. We are delighted that you had a great time at the villa and that it lived up to you expectations. I hope you will come and visit us again in the future. It would be lovely to meet you all again.
Wonderful villa holiday
We chose this villa after an extensive online search, and we are very happy to say that the villa lived up to our expectations in every way.
The property was immaculately clean when we arrived, and there was a huge variety of kitchen equipment and also food basics like sugar and teabags which we thought was a very nice touch.
Bikes and a 2-person canoe were provided at the villa and we made use of these on several occasions. The pool was really nice. By late June the unheated temperature was very pleasant for swimming and it was surprisingly large and deep.
This was a wonderful holiday in a beautiful villa and we would recommend it to others without reservation.
Thanks to you for your review. We are so pleased that you had a good time in Portugal and that the villa lived up to your expectations.
The local staff will be delighted to read this - most especially the cleaners, who put great effort into their work to try and ensure you have a good clean and welcoming house when you arrive. We really hope you will come and visit us again in the future.
Great for company with kids
We stayed at the villa at the beginning of june. We were company of 4 adults and 4 kids under 9 years. Enjoyed the place a lot. Place was clean and tidy. Big territory with nice lawn for kids to play and beautiful beach at the bay. The terrace upstairs was great spot for suppers with sundowns to watch. Ocean was just 10 minutes drive away. Obidos city just 20 minutes drive away was biggest discovery. Fantastic atmosphere and views. There is a great fresh fish and vegetables market in Caldas da Rhaina. Great if you enjoy to make a meals you're selves as we did.
We are so pleased that you had a good time at Casa da Lagoa, and were able to sample the delights of the local markets. Thanks for the review as this will help other potential guests in deciding on the Silver Coast. Do please come and visit us again in the future.
Casa da Lagoa fulfilled our dreams
We are a family of seven, and Casa da Lagoa fulfilled our dreams. The villa was clean and tidy. It was easy to find, and it was short distance to a lot of attractions, beaches and cities. One day in Lisbon was a must. The large pool, ping pong table in the basement, bikes and canoe were very popular among the children. When the kids were fine, we adults could totally relax. This was a dream. Everything was to our expectations.
Ove M and family :-)

The villa is set right on the edge of the famous Obidos Lagoon just 3 minutes away from the main beach at Foz do Arelho. The area is part of a nature reserve and bird sanctuary on one side but there are many water sports and other activities like canoeing, wind surfing, snorkelling, surf boarding etc just minutes away. The nearest surf camp is a short 2 minute walk from the villa.
The town of Foz do Arelho is really quite relaxed and inviting all year round, but particularly so in spring and summer, when the weather is absolutely beautiful and calm. The beach at Foz do Arelho is family friendly and is one of the largest you will find in the country so plenty of space for everyone.
The villa has unparalleled sea views and is the ideal location for total fun by the sea. The house sits on the lagoon so you have unfettered access to all the lagoon beaches, the long walks and easy bike rides for miles that the family can enjoy. The house has 2 mountain bikes and a canoe of its own for those guests who wish to give it a go. The water is literally 30 metres from the front gate so you can spend plenty of time exploring the lagoon in near perfect temperatures and golden sunshine.
The nearby historic castle of Obidos is just a short 15 minute drive away and the famous spa town of Caldas da Rainha just 10 minutes up the old road that goes through the town of Foz do Arelho. Caldas boasts the World's oldest spa/Thermal hospital and is still in full operation since medieval times when it was established by Queen Leonora. There is a cool central park with its own lake, plenty of shopping opportunities, a shopping mall, supermarkets and all other amenities. If you are thinking of doing a day trip or two to Lisbon, then you could take the non-stop bus service from Caldas that will put you in Central Lisbon within an hour. There is also the option of going in by train; though that will take longer.
The villa is also in striking distance of a number of other well-known attractions such as the holy shrine at Fatima,m Catholicism's third most sacred Basilica. Also in that area you will find the wonderful 12th Century Templar fort at Tomar, the grand Gothic cathedral at batalha and the rather grand old monastry at Alcobaca.
