After looking round many properties we luckily stumbled upon this one, and walking up the drive before even viewing the property felt this was the one. We were not wrong. Surrounded by Orangegroves and pine forests. Our own private paradise. Particularly suited for people who like their privacy but also like being close to amenities. 2 min drive from shops, medical centre, restaurants and attractions. This is what makes this property unique.
We actually got married in our garden joined by over 90 friends and family (including the Mayor).
Even after 11 years we feel very privileged to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
We Stayed in Valerie Rosa with our two children and two friends and had a fantastic time this summer. The house was bigger than we had expected and was absolutely spotless when we arrived. The facilities are excellent and the house is very private and secure as it is is off the road and not overlooked at all. The owners were very friendly and not only maintained the property during our stay, but also introduced us to the local area and gave us tips on the best places to visit (especially the local Park Bar which did delicious tapas at very reasonable prices!). The pool, Sky TV and WiFi alone would have kept the children entertained all holiday - but there are lovely sandy beaches a few minutes away by car, whether you want to explore the Costa de la Luz - or to just chill out by the pool we cannot recommend this propertyhighly enough. We all had a fantastic holiday - and did NOT want to go home!
We had an amazing time here at Chris and Emma's villa!
The Villa is massive, very secluded and not overlooked at all - very safe surroundings. The villa was very nicely presented, very homely. The swimming pool was a huge success especially for our two young children who are 4 and 8 - lots of choice of sunbeds!
The villa was ideally located, with easy access to numerous beaches, we particularly liked Isla Antilla beach and the beach with its amazing spit which begins in El Rompido. This spit is easily accessed by ferry for a day trip. If you like eating out, there is so much choice in El Rompido.
We had an amazing holiday in this area and highly recommend it to anyone, we particularly enjoyed the fact that it is typically Spanish - very little English is spoken.
Tip. The local aqua park - literally just down the road from the villa - was very good, both children loved it.
If you are looking for a property where you can relax and recharge your batteries with the added bonus of all the comforts you would find in your own home this is most definitely the place for you.
My husband and two 11 year old children stayed in the first two weeks of August 2014. The property is on a very spacious plot, surrounded by orange groves which ensures absolute privacy. On our arrival we found the house to be spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
The kitchen is incredibly well equipped with every gadget and cleaning device you could wish to find, unlike some places we have stayed in the past where a sharp knife is no where to be seen and the cupboards completely bare.
The pool area is like having your very own beach club; complete with toilets, showers, a table with gazebos and lots of very comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas. Many a day was spent around the pool reading books with two very contented children.
When we did venture further afield there was lots to see and experience in a very authentic part of Spain. The waterpark practically on the doorstep pleased our two immensely. Cartaya is a wonderful town and only a very short car journey away as is El Rompido an interestingly coastal resort, complete with lighthouse, in the opposite direction.
Emma and Chris were delightful hosts and couldn't do enough for us right from our initial contact and booking through to the vey last hours of our stay. Chris's generosity of spirit and knowledge of the local area when we asked for recommendations was so kind and really added to the experience of our holiday.
We didn't want to go home and would have happily stayed another two weeks.
Us: 2 adults, 2 kids (6 & 8) for 3 weeks (+ 2 adults for a long weekend)
The villa is fine and had plenty of space for our crew. It was also well equipped; we made good use of the grill and the wine fridge.
There's not a lot to add that has not been said already. If you can manage to leave the villa (not easy to do when you're thoroughly relaxed and have contented kids playing in a pool) there is plenty to do.
If you're into good food, you can't go wrong. The market in town had some of the best tomatoes that I've had, an impressive array of locally caught fish and seafood, and pork second to none. The local restaurants are also good.
While the closest beaches are only 5k or so away, a 20 minute drive takes you to lovely bits of the coastline.
The local beaches, while popular with Spanish tourists, do not seem to get many foreigners - although that changes dramatically the second you cross the border into Portugal.
Day trips to the Algarve and Sevilla are entirely possible.
Would definitely book again.
A straight hour run from Faro airport across the border. We had not been to this area before and were absolutely delighted to find it charming and unspoilt without a Union Flag or Deutsche Imbiss sign anywhere.
Beautiful peaceful surroundings, a gorgeous family house and wonderful hosts.
We will most certainly return.
We stayed here for 1 week in August 2013. 2 adults 3 teenagers.
Chris and Emma met us on arrival and showed us around the villa. Very clean and much larger than expected. It is sat in beautiful surroundings of rolling hills, with long distance views and lovely sunsets.
It is only 15 minutes walk into Cartaya via the off road cycle track.
The thing that you first feel is the peace and quiet, yet so close to a small town. The owners had thought of everything visitors would need, from sun loungers to a cool gazebo to cable tv. The pool was much bigger than we thought, and we all loved it. I would highlly recommend this villa for people wanting absolute privacy near a town.
Christ told us about the area, and how to get to beaches only 4 or 5 k away. I cannot speak to highly about the villa owners who made us feel relaxed and at home upon arrival. Great villa great people. 10 out of 10.
Hope to return soon. Steve and Heather.Williams . Leeds.
Two adult bikes are available upon request and with no extra charge. 1 male and 1 female bike well maintained. This area lends itself to cycling holidays as well as beach and golf, as the area has miles of newly constructed cycling pathways along the coastline and through the pine forests. Further bikes can be hired per day or for a week etc by a local supplier.
There are plenty of beautiful beaches to visit the closest being El Rompido and Portil just a 5 minute drive from the villa. The beaches of Rompido and Portil are great for all types of water activities from kite surfing to fishing. The coast line stretches from Gibraltar to the Portuguese Algarve. The beaches are very clean and have beach bars/restaurants (chiringuitos).
