Overview

About the property

Arc 1800 - a snowball to your first lift, linked to La Plagne in Paradiski, the French Alps. Summer Golf & Mountain Biking or Walking

LOCATION: The apartment is in Aiguille Grive 3 (the most spacious of the Aiguille Grive complex) and is set on a quiet woodland mountainside in Arc 1800, the liveliest, of the Les Arcs resorts. Les Arcs overlooks the railway town of Bourg-St-Maurice and is accessible via airports Chambéry, Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva.

SKI IN SKI OUT: The apartment is 4 doors in from the ski entrance opposite the normally queue-free Charmettoger chairlift.

You can literally take a few steps out to your first lift in the morning and ski home to the door later for lunch or that well earned rest.

SKI APARTMENT PHOTOS: several internal and external photos are included within this advert. 2 photos were taken from beneath the Charmettoger lift, with 1 showing 3 figures approaching the mountainside ski entrance to the building.

SKIING: the apartment offers immediate access to the main slopes of Les Arcs, with the Charmettoger lift itself serving some of the best tree skiing nearby for when it is snowing heavily, or a single ski to the Vanoise Express lift linking you to La Plagne, which together with Les Arcs make up the glorious Paradiski domain boasting 425km of pistes.

On a clear day take the nearby Transarc gondola up to the open sunny slopes of Arc 2000 and on those ‘white-out’ days ski the Vallandry tree lined slopes.

Discover glaciers, hidden 'off-piste', boarder cross for the daring or water-slide for the brave, with always an ‘energy stop’, alpine restaurant, or 'picnic rock' nearby.

For extra variety there are cross-country trails (15km), snow shoeing, sledging (with/without huskies), ski-joëring (horse-drawn) or the Ice Grotto.

SKI HIRE: Ski hire discount is available to guests of this apartment.

SKI PASS: Ski pass discount has been available to guests of this apartment in recent years.

SKI SCHOOLS/GUIDES: Booking offices face the slopes and meeting places are usually next to the lifts Transarc or Vagère, which are within 10mins ski/walking distance from the apartment. Most of the instructors speak English in addition to French, certainly you can request when you book.

NEARBY SKI RESORTS: St Foy, La Rosière, Les Trois Vallées, Val d'Isère and Tignes.

However, Paradiski is big enough to keep most skiers occupied!

FACILITIES: Ski hire shops, launderette and café/pizzaria/supermarket sit below the apartment. It is just a short walk to the Villards commercial village of restaurants, bars, music, delicatessens, supermarkets, banks, bowling alley, ski pass office and ski schools.

ACCOMMODATION: 2 floors with south-west facing balcony, well heated with plenty of continuous hot water. Extensive storage/wardrobes throughout.

Upstairs layout includes beds for 6 adults: a double bedroom; next to separate bunk bedroom; then bathroom with large bath plus shower attachment, toilet, basin and towel radiator; then separate corner sleeping area with second set of bunk beds.

Downstairs includes a comfortable convertible double sofa-bed for 2 adults, flatscreen TV, DVD player, fully equipped 'American style' kitchen overlooking the lounge and separate second WC toilet with basin. The lounge opens out onto the balcony with it's own sun bench seats and table.

French and English novels are provided, time permitting!

LAYOUT: A floor plan is included within the Photos of this advert:

1st Floor: 1st Bedroom: 1 double bed

2nd Bedroom: 2 single bunk beds

3rd Bed Area: 2 single bunk beds

Bathroom: bath, basin, shower

attachment & toilet

GOLF: enthusiasts will discover the 9 and18 hole golf courses on the slope immediately above the apartment building, with the driving range nearby.

OTHER SUMMER ACTIVITIES: paragliding, tennis, horse-riding, mountain biking, scenic walking with canoeing and water rafting in the valley.

YUGE: Paradiski's very own ski app. with suggested itineraries, tracking of you and your group, real time lift queue monitors, weather and webcams. Also usable for summer activities. Extra wifi points have been installed across the mountain to enable you to use without using up your own data.

TRAVEL & PARKING INFORMATION:

Quick Resort Location Summary: Les Arcs is in the French Alps overlooking the railway town of Bourg St Maurice.

Airports: Chambéry about 1 hour, Grenoble about 2 hours, with Lyon and Geneva around 2 1/4 hours by road to Bourg St Maurice, where you can get the funicular train up the mountain (7mins) and onward free shuttle bus to the apartment.

Car Hire: Available at all airports, bookable in advance. Eurocar operates an office in Bourg St Maurice for those wishing to hire from the airport and drop off, and/or pick-up on return. It is a short walk to the funicular train to travel up the mountain, with onward free shuttle bus to the apartment. Or, drive your hire car up the mountain to Les Arcs.

Bus transfers: Altibus, Alpski-bus, Ben's Bus, Coolbus, Satobus Alpes or Green Ride to Bourg St Maurice or Les Arcs (specify Charmettoger drop off, past Les Villards end of resort).

Train: Eurostar and the main French railways (including TGV overnight sleeper from Paris) run direct to Bourg St Maurice, which links by the funicular train to Les Arcs 1600, and onward free shuttle bus connection to Arc 1800.

Driving: For those driving without 'snow tyres', snow chains are recommended (indeed mandatory) in snowy/icy conditions on the mountain road between Bourg St Maurice and Les Arcs.

Parking: You can get away without a car in Arc 1800. Much of the resort is pedestrianised and traffic free, with cars really only used on arrival or departure, or for deliveries. But for those of you with a car there is the Charmettoger Undercover Car Park opposite the apartment, with Outside Parking within walking distance.

In winter a system of paid parking operates for the whole of Arc 1800. You collect a parking ticket as you pass through the Arc 1800 entry archway barrier, to be used throughout your stay, and on exit from the resort.

In summer, parking is free!

About The Owner

Enthusiastic skier.

Why The Owner chose Savoie

Location is the key!

No wasted time getting to ski!

Just steps to your first lift then ski home later to your door!

A fantastic view from the balcony.

The apartment has 2 floors with bedrooms upstairs and day area downstairs allowing most clothes and 'clutter' to be left upstairs.

Fully equipped for mealtimes at home.

Plenty of storage space & hot water.

What makes this apartment unique

Location again! What I love about this quiet apartment is it’s alpine location opposite the Charmettoger lift, giving immediate access to winter skiing for beginner or explorer, and summer biking or walking.

It offers easy access to all Les Arcs with the possibility of a single ski to the Vanoise Express lift linking to La Plagne.

No need for a car!

The Eurostar directly connects from the UK to Bourg-St-Maurice.

The Funicular takes you from Bourg-St-Maurice rail station, and the free shuttle buses link the Les Arcs villages.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Your apartment was great... One thing which made our week was the closeness of the apartment to the ski lift - we could ski back most lunch times which saved us a fair bit of money and also let us have a short rest!"

"20yards to the ski lift."

"It also has a bath with constant hot water, a major bonus for our aching limbs."

"we had such a magical time there at Xmas/New Year and we wanted to get another booked up if possible."

"I found my piste map of Les Arcs from 1988, and it is amazing how much the place has changed. There was a cable car to 1600 from BSM and masses of button lifts... Getting around is a lot easier and more comfortable now!"

The owner was fantastic and waited for us until after midnight on arrival due to a SATNAV excursion up the wrong mountain!... available throughout the week for any problems (there weren't any) and returned the deposit immediately."

"I strongly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a good value skiing focused holiday."

Les Arc 2017

  • 4 of 5

This was our third time at this appartment which speaks for itself. It is approx 15 paces from the chair lift and also convenient for the village . (10 mins walk). The property is clean and well maintained. The owner couldn't be more helpful. We needed to be in the appartment early and leave late and this was arranged by her. We hope to return next year.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

It`s a typical ski resort apartment in a typical ski resort building.

The good parts are it`s location. Ski lift that takes you to the middle station is literally at your doorstep. Never had any queues, even if the resort was very busy during our visit.Just a few minutes walk to shops and resturants. Ski rent and a pizza/bakery/grocery shop in the building. You can get freshly baked bread/croissants in the morning in 3 minutes!

The apartment has 2 floors. Bedrooms and full bathroom upstairs.Livingroom, kitchen and a toilette downstairs. This means it is ideal for a family with 2-3 children,as you can throw the children and all your gear upstairs and have downstairs clutter free.

Good beds with proper duveds (not just sheets) and kitchen fully equipped with everything you need on a holiday.

Plenty of storage place for your skis, boots and equipment.

The owners are very nice people. Booking,check-in/out and return of deposit were problem free. They have stayed in Arc 1800 for years,so they have an excellent knowledge of the resort

It is actually quite reasonable priced for a true ski out/in apartment that can sleep many people, at this location. It can sleep 8 people, but 4-5 is ideal.

I have no hesitations of recommending this apartment to others.

If I go to LesArc again,i will try to book it once more, and that should tell it all!

Good luck with future rentals Sharon! It was very nice to get to know you and Jerry,we truly enjoyed your hospitality!

Best regards

Geir

Great apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was brilliantly well appointed and equipped. So warm and clean. The layout was so well planned, there was room for all the ski gear and places to dry socks, boots ect. There was easily enough room for 6 adults to chill out in the evening and a lovely dinner table. We all had the best time and will hopefully return one day.

Great apartment in Summer and Winter

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the Alps in the summer months and this apartment in Les Arcs is superb, easily accommodating the 5 of us with space for sleeping another 3 people, although seating around the dining table would be a squeeze with 8; there was ample storage space. In the summer you can park right outside. If you park lower down there are two lifts to all floors. Although this is approx. a 10 minute walk into the town this was not a problem, the town has a number of bars, restaurants and shops open in the summer. There is a deli and pizza shop serving the loveliest croissants each morning. The view of the mountains from the balconies are beautiful and there are two benches and a table on the balcony for enjoying the evening sun and views. There is a free shuttle bus stop opposite to take you to Arc 1600 (Funicular for Bourg), 1950 and 2000 so no need for a car if not driving. During the summer there were two lifts which take you to the mountains for breath-taking views and many walks. 1800 has a host of activities during the summer, a lovely swimming pool and wellness centre only a short walk away. Some lovely lakes are just a short drive away. Having visited all of the Les Arc resorts, 1800 had the most things to do and most shops, restaurants and bars.

The apartment had everything we needed (apart from a measuring jug which after mentioning to Sharon, the owner, she has now purchased which was an excellent response). We ate in several nights and dishes were available of all sizes for cooking. Sharon was very helpful during the booking process, always available if we had questions, and was there on arrival to show us everything which was reassuring. Sharon promptly responded after we had left confirming the return of the deposit and rectified the lack of a jug very quickly. The downstairs toilet was a useful 2nd in the apartment and there was always a good supply of hot water throughout the day. When cooking the provision of a dishwasher (and dishwasher tablets) was very useful and also supplied were bin bags, washing up liquid etc .

We will certainly be back again in the Summer and have already booked with Sharon and here again for December where we will enjoy the brilliant benefit of ski in and ski out only 10 meters from the apartment door – no walking far in boots carrying skis. We are looking forward to our next stay here.

Perfect Location - no carrying of ski's!

  • 4 of 5

We had a very comfortable stay at Sharon's apartment. All as described with the location to the Charmetogger Lift being the biggest asset of the holiday. A few lazy steps out in the morning and you're there. Fab little ski run back at the end of the day too with plenty of little off piste jumps to play around on (in the woods too!). Then drop off your ski gear and either pop into town (5 - 10 min walk) to enjoy some Apres Ski in the sunshine around Benji's or chill in the sunny apartment. L'Arpette bar on said run provided entertainment for our daughters at the end of the day! We were blessed with gorgeous weather most days - which made a great week of skiing with plenty of touring across to La Plagne and a great variety of runs in Les Arcs all so accessible from here.Bit more snow now in order - would be perfect for the late season. The apartment had all we needed (we didn't cook in too much - as ate lunch in the mountains and generally snacked in eve or headed out a couple of times in Charvet and Villiards for fab Savoyarde style dinners. La Cabane des Neiges was lovely and needed booking ahead. The apartment is very light and you can see the morning sun shine across the valley then onto the Charmetogger lift - letting you know it's time to get ready! Lift opens at 9/9.15. The beds were comfy enough and we found the apartment perfect for 4 - especially in the evenings. As said 6 would be ok too, but 8 very cosy. If room another relaxing chair or if sofa bed had ends/arms would be perfect!

Sharon was there to meet us and told us all we needed to know. Her communication and help before our visit was excellent and we arrived ready with Ski Passes, ski hire booked etc so as soon as we arrived we only had to collect skis. (We used Skiset at Agrille Grive 2 - think we were unlucky with the service as we had trouble trying to communicate an issue with the lack of inner soles in a set of ski boots. The ski gear was ok - can always be better - but guess buying your own does that. Location for collection and return ideal. Might try the one underneath Grive 3 if visiting again). Sharons discount membership was a good saving too.

We ordered ski passes before leaving UK - which can be posted if ordered 2 weeks before or collect at Bourg St. Maurice funicular station to get free trip up the mountain. Where possible use Sharon's discount cards/info - family/student pass discounts to save where you can. I could go on!

We'll be back and will recommend. Thanks Sharon.
