About Graham Haycock
Hi. We bought a wonderful French Farmhouse over 26 years ago and have spent a lot of time effort and money on making it into a typical French Charentaise Farmhouse set in a beautiful quiet part of rural France. Please see Ref 8049101. We have now bought this wonderful villa with pool on the west coast of Florida to add to our collection and are hoping that visitors can enjoy both homes, each individually different and set in superb locations.
Graham Haycock purchased this Villa in 2009
Why Graham Haycock chose North Weeki Wachee
We bought this villa on the West, Gulf coast of Florida this year as we loved coming to Florida with the family, enjoying the Theme Parks and beaches, and of course the 365 day a year sunshine! We chose the Gulf coast, to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy, cosmopolitan, touristy Orlando and looked for a beautiful large home close to the beach in an area that is so much quieter and not commercialised. We found it here, in Weeki Wachee. Wonderful, friendly people with outstanding golf and swimming/beach activities for everyone.
What makes this Villa unique
Our home offers you the ability to quietly enjoy the pool, jacuzzi and wonderful sunshine on a quiet residential community with a wonderful Clubhouse, and the opportunity to explore the fantastic beaches, rivers, wildlife and nature all around you, on the same holiday. Not forgetting, for those of you that indulge and play a round of golf or two, make sure you try out the communities own superb 18 hole course.

Really enjoyed and Fully recommend !
Completely enjoyed our stay at this VRBO and would have zero reservations renting this home again or recommending this house to family and friends. I cannot say enough positives regarding the neighbours as we were only there for a few weeks and when leaving it was like we lived there for years when saying Good Bye!
Per the house it was very clean and one could tell the cleaner (I believe her name is Laura) is very thorough when it comes to prepping the home for the next guest(s). I also have to commend Dave (Pool Maintenance) and Henry (General Home Maintenance) on there level of professionalism and making sure there were no problems during our stay.
Being a former soldier suffice it to say I really liked the Military items and Police Forge Hats in the office area as the owner had some pretty unique items of which I took some pictures and made sure I respected the owners property by not touching the items.
One thing I must note as part of this review is the fact it is very unfortunate some guests do not treat the house with a little more respect and not throw their garbage in the corner of the garage (this attracts pests) or place dirty dishes back in the cupboards or resort to hiding used dishes in the cupboards located in the outdoor kitchen area. I would also encourage people that resort to such actions this information will get back to the owner via a review such as this or through the cleaning/maintenance people feedback on the departing guest.
If you like renting a clean home and have the ability to keep it clean I can guarantee you will enjoy your stay. On the other hand if you like to live like a slob or child that cannot keep their room tidy on a daily basis you will not be happy renting this home as you will find it too clean and organized.
Thank you for your kind words. All the guys who help me look after our home, do an outstanding job and collectively, we try to make our guests stay as pleasurable as possible.
An excellent villa on a beautiful complex.
This is a lovely villa that feels like a home on a very well maintained and secure golf complex. The villa has everything you could possibly need with the benefit of a very good supermarket and shops within a minutes drive from the entrance.
The golf club is easily accessible with a wonderful 25 m pool for serious swimmers.
The local area is much quieter than the Tampa area, so great if you are looking for a relaxing break.
Would thoroughly recommend kayaking at Crystal River and the airboat tour at Homosassa is a must.
The owner was always accessible and very helpful. The villa was very clean and the check in process incredibly easy, just what you want after a long flight.
An Excellent Villa in a Great Location.
The villa lives up to its description and is very well appointed. The pool has a pleasant view and isn't overlooked by nearby properties.
Graham is very efficient at answering any queries and his instructions on how to find the villa, plus the book inside the villa explaining how to work everything, were very comprehensive and clear. On arrival the villa was spotlessly clean. Probably the cleanest one we've rented.
The gated community is safe and very friendly and it's common to see people walking, running or cycling around it. The villa is also an easy 5-10 minute walk from the main clubhouse so eating out there saved a drive on several nights. The clubhouse served some of the best food we've experienced in Florida and their prices were reasonable. (Their 2 for 1 drink offers on most nights helped). It closes quite early, about 9pm, but if you're in before about 7.45 to order there's no rush to get you out. It was a friendly place with good staff and Graham's social membership cards allow you use the gym facilities too.
Nearby shopping is very convenient. There is a large Publix under a mile away at the very next turn off from the highway (some locals walk there, apparently). Two Walmarts are within a 15 minute drive and for serious shopping there is the Tampa mall, which takes about an hour to reach, and an outlet mall a similar distance south. There are the usual restaurant chains fairly close by but it's not as built up or bustling as the Orlando area so we never had to wait to be seated anywhere.
A few miles south is the Weeki Wachee state park with a few attractions and renting a canoe or kayak to paddle down the Weeki Wachee river is recommended. It's beautiful and an easy paddle too, as the current does the work and you get picked up downstream and driven back to your car. The Homosassa state park about 20 miles north is also well worth visiting with a decent selection of animals along with the manatees. There's wildlife around the villa too: Sandhill cranes walk by, the occasional turtle, and I videoed a 4ft snake right outside the pool area having a difference of opinion with a bird. (The bird won in the end). No alligators were seen but apparently they do make an appearance. We didn't get to many of the beaches so can't comment. The nearby Pine Island beach is very small but we're told there are bigger and better ones nearby.
The outdoor kitchen in the superb pool area with the Jacuzzi was a great feature.
Hidden Fees, Poor Condition, Overpriced
Graham charged us a large up-front fee for pool heat that did not work. His pool man volunteered that the heater is programed to “stay off in cool weather”. The weather was cool but Graham declined our request to refund any portion of the pool heating fee.
In addition, Graham kept several hundred of our damage deposit, exclusively for one week of “hot tub heat” which was already supposed to be included in the week’s rental fee.
Most-notably, this is a grimy, neglected property at 3x the cost of comparables. The house has a strong mildew smell; wallpaper throughout is dirty and curling; bedding and towels are very limited and threadbare; tile floors are crumbling; the dishwasher is broken and leaky. However, the neighborhood is gated and very nice.
This family stayed during the coldest week in January, recorded for many many years in Florida. The pool heat was on, 10 hours a day doing its very best ( which they requested ) but when the outdoor Temp is 22 degrees F, ( minus 5.5 C ) what does anyone expect ? Despite this, it did heat the pool up to the mid 70's and used an extraordinary amount of electricity to do so. The pool man stated that the heater is designed to kick in once the outdoor air temp reaches 50 deg, which is a safety feature. This family then decided to spend all their time, for all 7 days, in the outdoor heated Spa, leaving it on continuously. The Spa is heated by a 100 gallon propane tank. They were told, quite clearly, that excessive use of propane would result in a deduction from their deposit. They were fully aware of this, but nonetheless, used over 50% of the entire tank ( 50 gallons + ) at a cost to me of over $325. I only deducted a fraction of this amount from their deposit which was reasonable.
As for the other comments, they are all nonsense and written by a very bitter woman who did not like the deduction.
99% of all the walls are painted, not wallpapered
There are 18 x reviews of our home with a rating of 4.7/5 including this one.

Beautiful family home in a peaceful stunning location and
Our family stayed for 2 weeks in early September, at this wonderful, well equipped home by the lake. The owner was very helpful with our requests and provided us with everything we needed. The Jacuzzi is a dream, with a perfect view of the sunrise or sunset, a perfect way to start or end our day. The pool and lanai get the sun all day, which we loved. Glenlakes is a 1st class community with Tennis, pickleball, petanaque, an outdoor heated pool, golf driving range, amazing 18 hole course, gym and not to mention the bar and restaurant at the clubhouse. The food was lovely and the staff are extremely friendly. Pine Island beach is only a few mins drive away and there are numerous great bars and restaurants to visit in a short distance. There is also a Publix supermarket just around the corner. I highly recommend staying here and will be back again soon.
Lovely villa in a very well looked after community
We had a fabulous stay at Graham's Villa. In total there was 5 of us and we all had plenty of room and felt right at home the moment we walked through the door. The house was very well looked after and everything was as described. Dealing with Graham was very easy and straight forward and was always on hand if we had any questions throughout our stay.
Also we were luck enough to see a alligator in the lake at the back of the house!
Can't recommend enough.
Coast/Beach: The villa is a 10 min drive from beautiful sandy beaches and the warm waters of the Gulf coast. They are safe with golden sand and often have wild dolphins swimming very close to the beach. Alternatively there are a number of freshwater rivers (with the very rare Manatees) set in wildlife reservations ideal for canoeing/kayaking. The closest of which is only 1 mile away. Travel: Tampa Airport is 1 hr drive away. Orlando Airport is 1hr 45 mins drive away. The use of a rental car is highly recommended during your stay. Distances: Clearwater and Tampa beaches can be reached in an hour whilst Hudson Bay beach will take you 20 mins by car. All shops and amenities in Weeki Wachee or Spring Hill will take you 10 minutes by car. Further Details: Walmart, Winn Dixie, Publix superstores are all within 10 mins by car as are banks/ATMs, clothes shops and chemists. Numerous good quality restaurants such as Red Lobster and Outback can be found on Highway 19 - a 15 min drive from the villa. This highway also has many great bars offering very good value for money light meals and TV entertainment. An absolute must is to visit Pine Island beach (10 mins), Hudson Bay beach (20 mins) and to try out the kayaks on the Week Wachee river (5 mins). In our opinion (having visited them all!) the Busch Gardens Theme Park in Tampa (1 hr away) is the best Theme park for both adults and children alike. New in 2014 is a 50" HD TV, Blu Ray DVD player, surround sound system, new dishwasher,fridge/freezer and w/machine & drier. Jacuzzi now operates via new electronic remote control system.
