2 bedroom Lodge, in Devon with delightful river front extensive gardens, close to the sea and many attractions
Beckford Lodge is a well appointed, detached 2 bedroom property within the grounds of Beckford Cottage, situated in the beautiful Yarty Valley, 4 miles from Axminster (train station and bus stops). The nearest village is Stockland, 2 miles away and the Lodge is almost equidistant between Stockland, Dalwood, Kilmington and Membury. There are good local pubs and many lovely walks. If you want to get away from it all, Beckford Lodge is the place for you. There is much wildlife in the extensive gardens and along the half mile stretch of private riverside. We are close to Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Beer, Sidmouth and Honiton. There is a fantastic and extremely well stocked farm shop open 7 days a week only 2 miles away and we are just 7 miles from the sea. Centrally heated, washing machine, cot available if required. Well behaved dogs welcome by arrangement. No smoking.

About Isabel Entwisle
Beckford Lodge is run by husband and wife team Isabel and William who live at Beckford Cottage. They have been in the West Country for many years and would be very happy to help with local regional knowledge. For 2017 and 2018 they will be overseas, but business will be as normal!
Isabel Entwisle purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Isabel Entwisle chose Axminster
The Yarty Valley is just a delightful, peaceful, get away from it all place. This is a stunning part of old England, far enough away from the big lights, yet also within easy driving of Exeter, Taunton and many smaller towns.
What makes this Cottage unique
You can enjoy our extensive riverside garden. We have a wonderful farm shop as our closest shop, selling a wide selection of French wines and cheeses as well as local goodies. Just a short drive to many seaside villages such as Lyme Regis, Beer, Charmouth, Seaton etc

Picturesque tranquil cottage in beautiful surroundings
Lovely stay in this beautiful cottage, relaxing peaceful surroundings yet close enough to the local seaside towns and amenities. Everything catered for, would certainly return.
Thank you Graham for your review and hopefully we will meet you if you return. Best wishes, Isabel
Lived up to the expectation for the peace and quite that was commented on by others.
Peaceful country setting with the property being clean and comfortable. Would certainly consider returning to this property again in the future.
Thank you so much for your review, and of course we would welcome you back.
Beautiful, quaint cottage in peaceful surroundings
Lovely small, but we'll equipped cottage. Fab gardens and loved listening to the river.
Delighted Teri that you enjoyed The Lodge, many thanks for your review.
Remote 'gite' in rural Devon
An excellent holiday made all that more extraordinary by being alone in the property as the owners of the main cottage were away. We had full use of the wonderful gardens 24/7, a veritable paradise for us and our dog. Lovely location with walks straight from the house, with even a character 13th century pub just over the hill.
So glad you and the four legged had a good holiday. We would love to welcome you back .
Great to relax
Thank you Neil for your review. So glad you had a great holiday
Beautiful setting with wonderful grounds, and close to lots of seaside resorts.
Very clean property with comfortable bed, small but compact with everything you need, didn't realise the bathroom was downstairs which was inconvenient. Upstairs had sloping ceilings and unfortunately one kept banging into things it helps if you are not so tall. It was very quiet at night which was great all you could hear was the owls and birds, really beautiful part of the world and extremely close to the beaches. It would have been a nice touch to include a welcome gift which is now largely recommended by other holiday companies.
Possibly the wrong people in the wrong place for them.
Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Beer and Sidmouth are all within half an hour by car of Beckford Lodge which is 7 miles from the sea as the crow flies. There are lovely cliff walks along the South Coastal Path and the Jurassic coast stretches East from Lyme Regis.
Exeter Airport is 15 miles to the west of Beckford Lodge (half an hour by car) and Bournemouth Airport some 60 miles to the east (an hour and a half by car). Bristol Airport is 70 miles to the north (an hour and a half by car). Use of a car is essential.
Stockland 2 miles. Kilmington 2 miles. Dalwood 2 miles. Membury 2miles. Axminster 4 miles. Taunton 20 miles. Exeter 21 miles. Lyme Regis 8 miles.
Millers Farm shop, 2 miles up the road is one of the best in the country, with a wide range of french items as well as fresh locally caught fish, locally reared meat etc. There is a tesco in Axminster and Hugh Fearnley Whitingstalls canteen. Mark Hix has a renowned restaurant in Lyme Regis and there are a number of quality places to eat in and near Honiton.
