I live in Scotland with my wife. We use the apartment for much of the year - it is our second home - but we make the apartment available for friends and guests during the summer. We have made many friends in Spain and have really fallen in love with the country.

Why Rod Owen chose Marbella area

We love Elviria because of the fantastic facilities in the area. There are some beautiful beaches with a great range of bars and restaurants in the local village. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Malaga airport 45 minutes drive away.

Despite the current relatively strong Euro exchange rate to the UK Pound, there remains strong competition between restaurants and there are lots of very good and generally iinexpensive restaurants in the Elviria area and in Marbella.

You can get excellent Tapas and coffee in the village for £1.30 for each Tapas and £1.20 for a coffee.

Takeaways: BBQ Chicken £7.5 for a whole chicken for 4 people or Thai and Rice £7 pp (eat in or takeaway)

Dinner can cost as little as £20 pp for 2 good courses in a local Bistro.

There are several restaurants offering lunch deals for around £10 pp.

Some of the beach restaurants will provide fish and salad and a beer for under £10.

And of course if you are looking for an excellent dinner with wine and music it will be more expensive, but there are some good restaurants close by.

What makes this apartment unique

Duplex penthouse with great views over the valley to the Mediterranean and Gibraltar in the distance. It is in a quiet area with plenty to see and do less than a mile away. Golf, Beach, Great Restaurants and Bars.

Colorado Hills is a small gated development, providing a high general level of security and secure off-road parking, set in mature landscaped gardens with 2 split-level pools, plus paddling area, for exclusive use of residents. Although the immediate surroundings are quiet amongst villas and gardens, there are excellent shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance at Elviria. The apartment is spacious, light and airy with marble floors throughout and automatic window shutters fitted to both bedrooms. Most windows are also fitted with mosquito screens. It is well furnished using crafted reclaimed teak, original art-work and with careful attention to detail in order to achieve a real home from home. Large safe provided. Free WiFi and Sky + Sky Sports TV. The apartment has lots of outside space, including a 3-piece suite on the main terrace and an adjoining terrace with dining table and chairs. There is a large electric awning on the main terrace and separate sun umbrella for the dining area as well as sun loungers cushions etc. All terraces face south west with panoramic views over gardens and natural vegetation towards the sea and Gibraltar beyond. There is a further very private sun terrace outside the top-floor bedroom. There is a separate laundry room with Bosch washer/dryer and additional terrace outside the kitchen for drying towels etc. Cotton bed linen; non-allergenic pillows and duvets; bath-sheets, hand, beach/pool and kitchen towels provided. No smoking and No pets.

Top class apartment, highly recommended for a great holiday

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 week stay in this lovely apartment, everything was exactly as described, providing every possible comfort to make our stay relaxing and stress free. The accommodation is clean, modern and well furnished with comfortable beds, and although we don't go on holiday to watch TV, we enjoyed having the option to watch the Sky Sports channels to keep up with the golf and cricket. We spent lots of time soaking up the sun on the large private balconies, which are nicely furnished and provide optional shade along with good open views down to the coast. The owner Rod provided lots of helpful advice and information, and we received a lovely welcome on our arrival and were well looked after during our stay, we didn't have any problems but we know that help was on hand if required. The location itself is ideal if you like to be close to the local amenities, but in a peaceful relaxing environment. Elveria itself offers lots of lovely restaurants, bars and cafes to suit all tastes and budgets, also supermarkets, cash points, and some lovely small independent shops, it's also an ideal central location with a short drive to the many other lovely locations such as La Cala and Cabopino in one direction or Marbella in the other, and is convenient for lots of golf courses. We'd definitely recommend this apartment, and hope that we'll be able to make a return trip.

Peaceful and relaxing stay

My family and I enjoyed our stay in Rod's apartment. Fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. We enjoyed sitting out on the large terrace and the electric awning was very useful to provide shade as it was very very hot the 9 days we stayed there. The apartment grounds are very well kept and the pool area was never busy which we liked as it was nice and peaceful. May I also thank Coral, the agent who met us at the apartment and was on hand for any questions or queries during our stay. Highly recommended.

Beautiful stunning apartment in a lovely setting

Apartment was beautiful & spotless, everything was there we needed including a washing machine which was a god send. Elviria is lovely with plenty pubs & restaurants & the people are so friendly, Marbella & Puerto Banus are so close by also. Highly recommend 😁

Had another amazing holiday in this lovely , well equipped penthouse apartment.

This apartment is part of a well manicured complex with lovely pool area and has a quiet relaxing atmosphere. We always hire a car which is preferable to access beaches and local attractions however there are excellent taxi services in the village square. We do often enjoy the walk to the village which takes 10 to 15 minutes.

The apartment has everything a family requires with regards to accommodation and household amenities.

The balcony area is a real sun trap with excellent views of Gibraltar and North Africa on a clear day . The main balcony area has comfy wicker seating and there is a table and chairs in the other balcony section for outside dining. If shade is required there is an remote controlled awning which covers the main balcony.

The main bedroom has a very handy walk in wardrobe and its en suite has a walk in shower and double wash basin.

Bed linen and towels are changed weekly whilst the apartment is also cleaned.

The apartment can be accessed via stairs or lift and there is outside parking and an underground garage area .

Most apartments have difficulty in accessing terrestrial British TV .There are some sky channels and a useful DVD player . We didn't go on holiday to watch TV but used Sky News and DVDs to keep in touch with the world and for entertainment.

Overall a fabulous holiday was had in a lovely Penthouse Apartment.

Beautiful apartment. Tastefully furnished, quiet with stunning views. Exactly as described.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was immaculate, very well equipped and maintained to a very high standard. The information supplied by the owner from our initial booking was excellent, and the agent, Coral, was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The information provided on the app by the owner was particularly helpful.

This is a quiet area approximately 1 mile from the centre of Elviria, but does feel longer in the heat - some days reaching 36 degrees. We generally called a taxi in the evening, but these were cheap and available. There was a good variety of restaurants and the standard of food was very good. The bars however do like to pour very large measures of gin!

This was our first visit, but it certainly won't be our last. We had a very relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings and we would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Coast/Beach:

The best beaches on the Costa del Sol are genuinely less than 5 minutes drive away, with miles of sand and gentle warm bathing. These offer excellent beach bars, chiringuitos, sunbeds, up-market beach clubs including the renowned jet set destination of Nikki Beach, as well as more secluded areas. The yacht harbour of Cabopino is also nearby.

Travel:

Malaga airport is 45 minutes (40km) away. Car hire is recommended but not at all necessary.

Distances:

Elviria shops, bars & restaurants are 1.6km away and the nearest beach 2.4km.

The apartment is well situated to explore white villages of Andalucia and the famous historic town of Ronda, perched on a high plateau (2500 ft above sea level), all are within easy driving distance. Seville, Granada and Gibraltar can each be reached within 2/3 hours. In addition other popular locations such as Puerto Banus, Benahavis and Mijas are a short drive away.

Further Details:

As well as the picturesque fishing and yachting marina of Cabopino close by with many bars & cafes, there is an abundance of excellent, fish and meat restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. It is a 10 mins pleasant downhill walk to the shops and 15 or so great bars and restaurants of Elviria. If you prefer, the journey back can be undertaken by readily available and inexpensive taxis. The Marbella area has world class facilities, restaurants, shops, nightlife, fitness, sports, health and beauty clubs plus more than 20 quality golf courses. Attractions for families and thrillseekers include parasailing, Tivoli World, Aquapark, Natura Aventura, Buggy Safaris, Zoo and Funny Beach. Malaga itself offers walking tours, galleries and the renowned Museo Picasso. In addition whilst the apartment is well situated for many popular locations, it sits amongst low-rise residential villas and offers quiet walks and peaceful tranquillity.
