Tranquil setting with views over our 12 acre valley with its private 9-hole golf course. Superbly equipped house - wifi, TV with satellite/DVD, twin dishwashers, twin fridges. Great service options - chef, cleaning, wine tours, wine-tasting on site, classic car and Minibus rental. New for 2016, 9th bedroom with special shower-room on ground floor for mobility impaired.

Why Ian Christians chose Entre Deux Mers

We bought Le Faure because it was crying out to be brought back to life. It has a magnificent setting looking over it's own valley, full of nature with amazing birds, plus deer and the occasional boar. Very, very peaceful. The area, Entre-Deux-Mers, is particularly attractive, lots of vineyards, the River Dordogne nearby, not too touristy. The weather is usually ideal, hot but with occasional rain to keep everything green. And of course the fabulous wines of Bordeaux. Life does not get much better than this! Easily drivable in 1 day from the UK, but now flights from all over to Bordeaux or Bergerac, and of course the green TGV to Libourne. Very well connected!

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Peace and tranquillity, nature at close hand. Beautiful environment with historic house and lots of antiques. Brilliant underground cellar. En-suite in all bedrooms for privacy. All modern technology, wifi, satellite, home cinema, iPod connections. Superb kitchen for cooking enthusiasts, American fridge. Table tennis and use of tennis court, croquet lawn and boules court. The valley is a beautiful area for a walking with nature and has a 9-hole golf (Length from 90-250m) course. Also, a completely separate football pitch, which will not be rectangular and will be higher in the middle than at the ends - for fun. So lots of sporting options!

A Week of Happiness in Wine Country

All 17 members of our family, ranging in age from 9 months to 76 years, loved our week at Le Faure. It is an old, solid, traditional building, but everything worked ! The food, wine, facilities, weather and location were all excellent. The pool was perfect for the younger family members.

A highlight of our week was the Wine tasting, given by Ian, the owner. A most interesting range of wines led to a very merry evening.

We enjoyed Ian chefs on several evenings, and tried both the gourmet and basic menus. Both were very enjoyable, and we could not agree on which we preferred. On other evenings we either shared simple dishes around the barbecue area, or visited the local restaurants in Gensac.

The location is very rural, with many vineyards in the surrounding hills, but with lots of places to visit, such as St Emilion, or Bergerac. Local shopping in Gensac, 5 minutes away, is fine for basics, or there is an enormous supermarket 15 minutes away, selling everything from ice cubes to washing machines.

Overall, a wonderful week. Thank you, Ian.

We spent a beautiful time at le faure.

Tennis, Pool, Petanque, Golf, Winetasting in a very nice environment!

We enjoyed to stay for 2 weeks in this place and recommend it to everybody who loves to live in nature with his friends or/and family. The owner Ian takes care of you and helps whenever requested.

Superbe week end !

Nous avons offert ce week end entre amis à un couple de jeunes mariés. Nous étions 12 adultes. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. La maison, le cadre, l'histoire et Ian, un propriétaire adorable, ont contribué à faire de ce week end un souvenir mémorable. Partie de golf, farniente au bord de la piscine et grandes tablées au moment des repas, tout y était. Nous le conseillons et y retournerons avec plaisir !!

A Wonderful Week

Le Faure was the ideal location for our get together with family and friends. A fabulous range of activities on site, easy travelling distance to the Dordogne, St Emilion, Bordeaux and more. The house provided ample accommodation and lovely areas to sit outside. The overall setting made us all smile! We loved the place and would love to return.

Beautiful country house

Very comfortable house with loads of rural charm. Very well equipped kitchen, with lots of surface preparation space and two large fridge-freezers. The bedrooms, ensuites and bathrooms were all clean and tidy. The swimming pool was clean and ready to use and we also enjoyed the tennis court. The nearby town of Gensac has a good bakery and a nice pub restaurant. There are many wineries to visit in the area and of course the lovely and historic town of Saint Emilion is only a short drive away. The owners are pleasant, helpful and very responsive to any questions or requests. We have stayed here twice and will do so again.

Magical house

This was a wonderful house to celebrate a special birthday with all the family.

Very well equipped and lots of space for all. The pool was enjoyed by all generations and great meals were cooked in the large kitchen. The Gensake restaurant in the village is also to be recommended.

Coast/Beach:

The Lac du Cadie, a large lake with sandy beaches, pedalos and fishing, together with a restaurant, is just 10 minutes away and has had some rave reviews for children. The Bay of Arcachon, and the Dune of Pyla (highest in Europe) is 90 minutes to the south-west. There is a marvellous outdoor restaurant overlooking the bay.

Travel:

Bordeaux Merignac airport is 60 mins away, Bergerac 40 mins -if you fly we have 2 x 9-seater VW transporters for hire, pick-up/drop off possible, cheaper and quicker than rentals. Airlines cover all UK, BA, Flybe, Easyjet, Ryanair, also direct flights from Dublin, Brussels, Amsterdam, Zurich and Paris. Train TGV arrives from Paris/Lille/London at Libourne, 30 mins away.

Distances:

Gensac 2km, Ste. Foy-la-Grande and Castillon 14km, St. Emilion 26km. Bordeaux 65km, Bergerac 38km, Atlantic 120km.

Optional extras include chef, our own mini-bus hire (VW Transporter with 9 seats plus delivery/pick-up service at airport/station at 695 euros/week, our own Canadian canoe rental. Lots of good local restaurants, Leclerc supermarkets at Castillon and Ste. Foy. St. Emilion is amazing, historic and beautiful. Bergerac is 40 mins to east, gateway to the beautiful Dordogne. Oil central heating is extra.

Our accommodation is to a high standard and quite high tech (home cinema, wi-fi). Because we have five other houses in the area (Thebot, 5 beds, FR6029; La Grange, 6 beds/6 baths, FR6047; The Presbytere, La Musique and the Orangerie, all 8 beds/8 baths, FR6052, FR6134, FR6123) we have a permanent support team - Gerd (gardener & maintenance), Marielys (housekeeping), Adam (telecomms/ computers/ internet/ audio-visual) plus 2 chefs and thus are extremely well positioned (far better than most others) to ensure your holiday is as trouble-free as possible.
