About James Dimech

Since I can remember I have painted and been interested in my surroundings. My childhood memories are of the wonderful Maltese islands and very fascinated and enchanted by Malta's capital city Valletta, the shops and cafes, the churches, the panoramic views and the history of the capital. Now we reside in the UK but love to share our town house Antiqua for a real Maltese holiday accommodation feel.. My only real qualification is my heart which is where I paint from. If its a need, a passion and in your blood you will be an artist, that's all the credibility I need. Enjoy my work, the viewers enjoyment is worth more than any acclaim. You can see some of my paintings from time to time at our charming townhouse, in Valletta or at the qawra apartment.

Since my childhood I was enchanted by Malta's capital city, a city built by the Knights of St John, a city dotted with churches and St John cathedral was my favourite, the panoramic views of the great Valletta harbour, the narrow stepped streets and all the history of our capital.

5/5. Remarks - This house of character is absolutely beautiful, it's been lovingly restored and is spotless. It's located in a residential area that is completely safe and just a five minute walk from the centre of the city. There's a grocery store, fruit and vegetable store and a bar just around the corner and the locals couldn't be more helpful. In the townhouse itself, there were plenty of clean towels in the shower and the bathroom, a well stocked kitchen, with a gorgeous dining area and plenty of space for entertaining. Staying in this townhouse is the equivalent of taking a step back in time to the 16th century, but with all mod cons in tow! Malta is an incredible place, it's steeped in history and is brimming over with stunning architecture. I loved it, I've already passed on the details of this property to all of my friends and will definitely visit again in the very near future.

Notes on accommodation: Completely furnished,with all the amenities of a fully functional home. Accommodation consists of one king size double bedroom with original wooden beams and traditional iron balcony, one shower, kitchen/dining with stunning original arches and a beautiful living room.Valletta capital is surrounded by water from three sides .The town house is self catering . Nearest store is 30 seconds on foot away , Just 1 minute walk away to Merchants street, where the Valletta food and vegetable market is also located. Outside: A big list of films were shot in the surounding area of our house in valletta .Malta has been playing host to foreign productions since 1920's,. Film directors Lee Tamahori, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Ridley Scott, Alan Parker, John Glen, Robert Altman, Renny Harlin, Roman Polanski and Alejandro Amenábar as well as producers Dino de Laurentiis, Lord Puttman and Branko Lustig have all filmed in Malta over the years. Just to name a few good films The Devil's DoubleChristopher Columbus,Cutthroat Island,The Da Vinci Code ,Midnight Express The Saint . Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included.

Old Maltese Town House with Character

The house is lovely and in a great location, you will hear the neighbours early morning going aboutwithin easy walking distance to the sea, up the hill you will find the shops, bars and restaurants in Valletta, the harbour and central bus station are a warm 15-20 min stroll away.

We discovered that due to the age of the house, particularly when it was very windy that everything was covered in a layer of dust/sand. The bedroom is situated on the 1st floor, where you will find a hairdryer in the drawers and under the wardrobe, leftover suncreams etc, the entrance door & lounge are on the ground floor and the kitchen, dining table, shower & toilet are in the basement, there is a de-humidifier which helps. There isn't any air-con in the house but there are 2 fans which help to circulate the air, we found the one in the bedroom invaluable.

The WiFi was excellent, although the phone signal was weak, due to the thick stone walls and surrounding buildings.

We had stayed in Malta many times and this property is in a perfect location to wander into the centre and stumbling upon many places to eat and drink, the property has been restored to it's original build at a high standard, would recommend to all!!!

The property is on 3 levels.

It is only seconds from the main street....Republic street.

Valletta centre, the ferry to Sliema and bus station is only a few minutes walk.

Great spacious apartment highlighting all the history and old charm Valletta has to offer. The place was clean and comfortable with great amenities. Easy to get around the city and a nice 10 minute walk to the main bus terminal for public transit all over the island. Would stay again if I ever make it back that way. Jim also arranged pick up at the airport for a good price, and friendly driver.

Great stay

It is a wonderful 3 levels apartment, very close to the harbour and main street. Authentic Maltese style, full of character, lovely decorated. Very clean and cozy. It really has everything you need and even more. We loved it and would gladly stay there again.
