Luxury Beach House in Porlock Weir. TA24 8PD - Peaceful location, ideal for a family or group holiday by the sea. Luxurious and Romantic.

Weighbridge House is a million pound contemporary build with a touch of French

chic, nestled in a desirable location in the south of England.

You will find 5 comfortable sized bedrooms, in which 4 have king size beds. One of these rooms is a family room which also includes twin beds. The additional annex is a large comfortable twin. Most rooms have a private patio and bathroom. A ground floor bedroom with en-suite bathroom and patio has an extra wide door for wheelchair access. However there are five steps up to the communal area.

Enjoy spacious living within the open plan kitchen and huge living room.

A large adjoining balcony is perfect for alfresco dining and barbecues. Take in the uninterrupted sea views or watch the passing of boats in the harbour.

For your entertainment there is cinema room, table tennis and pool table, free wifi and sky tv.

Plenty of outdoor activities can be found locally including horse riding and golf. Beautiful Exmoor is right on your doorstep and waiting to be explored.

Weighbridge house is ideal for family or group holidays in a safe secluded surrounding, with local amenities at hand including shops,restaurants, pubs and tearooms.

The award winning Weighbridge House was been voted No 5 in Sunday Times, 50 coolest cottages and ranked in the telegraph top 10. It was also given the 'Best in the West' design award.

We provide special interest holidays; eg yoga and relaxation courses. Garden tours and tips on garden design. Art and painting courses. Cookery with a twist. Well known teachers.


Weighbridge House is next to the beach with uninterrupted views. There are several more beaches within a short distance. Exmoor in all its glory is just behind us, use the steps at the side of Weighbridge to take you to another world. There are several riding schools closeby on the moors.


Bristol airport is the nearest airport about 1 hour away. A car would be beneficial if only because of the opportunities to see such a beautiful landscape. We can arrange car hire. As you have a delightful pub, a Michelin star restaurant and an excellent hotel restaurant, plenty of walks on your doorstep. Porlock itself with its variety of shops, delis and restaurants within walking distance (there is a bus). You could manage without a car


Dunster and its castle is a lovely place to visit approx 7 miles.

Minehead town approx 6 miles. Railway Stations at Taunton and Minehead. Taxi services from Minehead.

Lynmouth and Lynton wander the streets and be happy. Venicular railway to Lynton approx 5 miles.

Valley of The Rocks a must approx 6 miles.

The Moors behind Weighbridge and beyond.

Notes on accommodation: Weighbridge House is a designer's dream, it has a contemporary theme with comfort in mind, underfloor heating and state of the art bathrooms. A magnificent kitchen, large comfortable sofas, log fires and a view to die for. Outside: Weighbridge House has one very large balcony overlooking the sea. This accommodates dining table, chairs and sun beds. There are two very private patios, two lawns all surrounded by pretty borders. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen is changed weekly and towels also by request. Other: Cinema and games room with beautiful Italian furniture, surround sound and pool table, table tennis.

A beautiful appointed house in a great location

Great house with a fab outlook across the weir. It had all the mod cons you could want, tastefully decorated large rooms and fabulous large kitchen living area, which suited our group. Made use of the games room, which was a fun extra. The iPod speaker (great sound) came in handy. Kitchen well stocked, had everything we needed. Very minor issue with the kitchen cooking utensils, which could be renewed...oh and an oven mitt. I've already been asked for recommendations, given without hesitation. My group really did have a wonderful time staying at Weighbridge House

Stunning location fabulous property

The property is amazing and built to a high standard, we were all comfortable in the large bedrooms. We felt that the property was in need of a little TLC as there were quite a few cobwebs on the ceilings (and spiders)

A wonderful house in a stunning area

This place has been designed beautifully to fit a family and friends, cosy yet spacious, luxurious but with the rusticness of the countryside around! We absolutely LOVED it and will definitely be back ASAP!!!! Missing it already - thank you for a fab pre-christmas holiday!

Fabulous stay- great home, great place

We were so happy from the minute we walked into the house. For two of the days we didn't leave the village! Such a beautiful design and Exmoor is a fantastic place to stay too! We cant wait to come back! Also try the clam chowder in the near by cafe :)

Brilliant location but luxury wearing thin

House in amazing location on the edge of the harbour with sea views. Exmoor unspoilt beauty all around (although the hills were a bit of a challenge for the walkers among us!).

Although still a luxurious property, it needs a bit of TLC to bring it back up to scratch. We were also disappointed that plumbing and electrical problems, notified to the owner two days into our stay, were ignored.

Owner's Response: Dear Diana, I am so sorry I did not receive any messages from you while you were staying in the house. It may have been because I was attending my daughters wedding in Asia and phone signal was none existent. Had you emailed me I would have attended to this matter immediately. The number for the electrician and the plumber are in the red information file on the island in the kitchen.They are both on call during the day and weekends. I take my maintenance team down to the house twice a year to paint, repair etc. They stay for the week and its' their favourite job. Once again my apologies. One of the five toilets in the house is a Saniflo. You can only put natural things and toilet tissue into this toilet. Very occasionally someone puts sanitary products, wet wipes etc, this ceases the toilets engine and causes the electric to trip in this bathroom. We have several signs in the bathroom hopefully this will not occur again.
