About thomas Katsaros
Thomas Katsaros was born in Kalami Corfu at 1961. His love for his birth place and a purely sentimental force in the very beginning were the material for everything he does. He, his wife Alexandra and his two doughters created the tavern “Thomas's place” offering traditional greek cuisine, its unique position by the waves and its atmospheric, local colour. Thomas organises fishing trips with his traditional boat and also is the editor of My Kerkyra magazine.

Amazing sea views from a beautiful hilltop location
We (2 adults, 2 young teens) have just spent 10 days in Villa Mandalena. We loved the pool area and the views from the covered seating area. A stunning place to sit and watch the world go by. The villa was comfortable with good aircon, hot water, Wifi, a big fridge freezer, oven and barbecue. It would have been even more perfect had it had a dishwasher and a toaster but we coped! Our 12 year old daughter loved the cat family which visited us each day. We recommend the beaches in the local area, particularly Kerasi and Kalami. San Stefano (NE) is a pretty little port town with some beachfront tavernas - it had a Padstow vibe about it. You can hire motor boats and visit other beaches that can't be reached by road- great for snorkelling! We also visited the water park 'Aqualand', which we would definitely recommend. It is clean, well-organised and our girls loved it. If you want to walk into Kalami from the villa you can use the lifts down (and up!) in the San Antonio resort, 500m down the road. Much safer and easier than walking on the road or down the cross country path. We dined at Thomas's place a couple of times, which is right on the beach. We also ate at the White House restaurant twice, which we loved. We recommend the cheese saganaki and the courgette fritters. Dimitri (Thomas's brother) also runs a taverna near the villa which we also recommend. We didn't visit Corfu town until our last evening, on our way back to the airport. We wished we'd come before. It has a vibrant atmosphere, lots of great shops and restaurants and so many beautiful buildings to see. We loved our stay in Corfu and Villa Mandalena was such a good find. We thoroughly recommend it.
Great Place to stay. Made to feel very welcome.
We stayed at Thomas Katsaros’s holiday home in August 2018 & loved our holiday. We were met by Thomas's Daughter on arrival who showed us around & gave us great advise. She was lovely & made us feel immediately at home. The holiday home was much nicer than the photos give it credit for & the pool & view are absolutely outstanding. We were left with a hospitality package including wine & basics which was a really nice touch. To get to Kalami you have to walk on a pretty scary main road to the local hotel where there is a lift to the centre which doesn't take long (about 7 mins) but it's not ideal having to walk on the road. Kalami is beautiful & we fell in love with the laid-back vibe, fantastic tavernas, beach, mini markets & water sports. We ate in all of the Taverna's & thought they were great, but to be honest Thoams's Place, who owns the property was the best; far better than the famous White House, which to be honest was the most expensive, but worse in terms of food & service. Thomas & his family made us feel so welcome & could not do enough for us. Real Greek hospitality. The only reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5 is the road you have to walk on & also the matress's in the twin room. This may seem picky, but they were so hard knowone could really sleep on them. Apart from that the property, owners & location itself were 5 stars. I would heartily give my recommendation for this property & would definitely return.
Excellent villa with stunning view.
Fantastic villa with amazing views , pool area great for relaxing around with great shaded seating area, the pool it self was immaclate.
Everything you needed in the villa and was very clean also had a change of linen midweek we only stayed a week .
Antonia was a star , the whole family made you so welcome , they have a great taverna on the beach "Thomas's Place"
Would highly recommend this villa.
Stay to remember
Better than expected - the photos don’t do the property justice. It was fabulous. There were five of us and we were very comfortable with great facilities. Pool side was especially popular: nice are to relax in with views all around. The small touches on arrival such as the slippers and oregano summed up the thoughtful nature of the owner. Looking forward to our return visit!
The perfect place to relax
This villa has the best pool in the village. There's everything here for a perfect holiday. You will enjoy privacy, peace and quiet in a modern villa. You have all the electrical appliances you need from a food processor to a washing machine. There is a supermarket a 15 minute walk away and they deliver to your door or bring you home with your shopping. The villa is clean. Wi fi is free and quick. Thomas and his daughter Antonia will do all they can to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. They did for us and we will certainly be back.
Fantastic villa. Could not wish for a better pool. Air con was good. Villa fully re decorated.
Could not of wished for a better villa or better location. I would recommend hiring a car but if you don't want to then you can walk to the village. Thomas and his daughter Antonia were excellent hosts and very friendly. Nothing was any trouble. The whole family enjoyed spending time round the fabulous pool area. Excellent bbq for cooking during the day or evening if you don't want to go out. If you do go out then Thomas has a taverna on the beach which is called Thomas place which is very good. I would also recommend Dimitri taverna which is the closest resteraunt to villa. This is owned by Thomas brother. Would definitely book again. However long you book is not long enough. Thank you Thomas and Antonia
The nearest beach is Kalami 1.8 km away. Only a 4 mins drive or 15 min walk. There is a water sports center where you can have unforgetable moments in the water or you can hire a boat from the tourist Office and explore the most beautiful beaches of corfu some of them accesible only by boat.Horse riding also is available just 15 minutes drive. An aditional way to explore the isolated trails and the wild beauty of the island. Also in Kalami is located the White House where the Durrell's family lived until 1939.This interval was later the basis of the book ''My family and other animals'' and its successors ''Birds,Beasts and Relatives'' and ''The garden of the Gods'' by Gerard Durrell the brother of Lawrence Durrell.
