The historic farmhouse is set in the valley of outstanding natural beauty on the outskirts of the wonderful and charming Etruscan city of Volterra. It is divided into 4 private apartments which accommodate up to 14 guests and is just perfect for couples, families or even larger groups holidaying together.
Each apartment has been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard. Modern design fixtures and fittings have been carefully tailored to compliment the traditional materials used in the construction of the cross vaulted ceilings, barrel arches, chestnut beams and cotto tiled floors.
Each apartment has it's own private terrace with magnificent views, stretching out across the valley towards churches, monasteries and other historic buildings which cling perilously to the cliff tops around the outskirts of Volterra. The views pass over olive groves, hilltop borgo's, and the iconic tuscan rolling hill landscape extending all the way to the distant Apeninne mountain range.
Each terrace is well equipped for alfresco dining and complete with a cosy fire-pit with plentiful supply of logs to cook on or just to take the chill off those cooler spring or autumn evenings.
There is a newly constructed wood fired pizza oven in one of the communal areas for the use of our guests. Creating your own pizzas and eating under a star lit sky is a terrific experience which can be enjoyed by all. Throughout June you could even be joined by a throng of majestic fire-flies as they go about their nocturnal business!
Adventure playground area with a charming tree house, slides, zipline, bikes, scooters, sand pit and various other toys and activities has been designed in our garden to amuse your little ones.
The valley is popular with hunters and foragers with the highly prized wild boar and truffles keenly pursued in season. There are some relaxing walks around the valley, through woodland with waterfalls and hillsides with breath taking views. Look out for the Poiana and other birds of prey circling over the valley or track the deer and wild boar footprints across our land. Mediterranean tortoise, porcupines and badgers are seen occasionally but you will surely get to meet some of the geckos which frequent the nooks and crannies around the outside walls and terraces.
Guests are welcome to help themselves to the plentiful and varied fruits in season on the trees such as the cherries (May), figs, plums and apricots (July)and the plentiful supply of varied tomatoes and herbs grown at the farmhouse. Enjoy!
The farmhouse is set over two floors with wonderful views from a private terrace across the valley and all the comforts of modern living with a classical mix of traditional rustic and contemporary furnishings.
On the ground floor there is a fully fitted kitchen with fridge-freezer, gas hob, electric oven and dishwasher. Table and chairs to seat 6 and a wood burner for those cosy winter evenings.
On the first floor there are two good sized formal bedrooms with king size beds. There is a family bathroom with bath and shower attachment and wonderful views to enjoy whilst you bathe!! The mezzanine area is a flexible upstairs sleeping and living space with a double sofa bed, small library, a large TV and DVD player with a great selection of classic and up to date movies.
The accommodation comes equipped with Wi-Fi, an IPod dock and CD player, a set of binoculars and a selection of board games for the family.
A single bed can be placed in the main bedroom upon request.
I have fallen in love with your wonderful piece of paradise. I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate my 60th birthday. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. Lesley, June '11
We have loved being here - it's a really special place and a great location for visiting cities and the coast. We will be back. Clare & Ian August '12
So sad to be leaving your amazing place of perfection. We love Tuscany anyway but staying here for our short time has made it really special. Steve & Jude Sept '12
We have had a fantastic stay. This is a beautiful place - gorgeous house, stunning views and delicious swimming pool. So great to find a perfect place, where there is literally nothing you would change.

Wow! What a beautiful place, everything we dreamt of and more. Stunning views, wonderful accommodation and great location with easy access to all the main attractions. Thanks for your hospitality. Toni & Claire - Sept '11
The property was beautifully renovated and tastefully furnished, set in extensive grounds with stunning views. The light in the mornings was lovely, as were some sunsets. Everything was well maintained and very clean, and the owners are incredibly hospitable and helpful. We had a wonderful stay!
The memories we have of our holiday in the Studio will stay with us a long time. Our accommodation was very clean and well presented. We had our own private garden area with comfy seating and views over the Tuscan landscape. The pool provided a welcome cool down after our hilltop town explorations. Wonderful beaches, great golf and just love Volterra!
Our accommodation was just fantastic. The views across the valley from the Studio were stunning. We had our own private garden area and loved cooking each evening under the stars. The pool was large enough for a proper swim and proved even more enjoyable to just float around on the king size lilo's supplied. Our evening valley walks were most enjoyable, taking in the scenery and traditional buildings and local gardens as we passed by. Volterra has handsome architecture and is full of charm with no shortage of reasonably priced quality restaurants. We had a few days out in Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and even located a 'secret' gorge close by. We can't wait to come back and visit your lovely house again!
The farmhouse was beautiful, rustic, clean and very well equipped. Our children loved the pool and the views across the valley were simply stunning. Josh was the perfect host. The location was a great base to explore Volterra, Sienna, Florence and San Gimignano which were all amazing. Didn't want to leave this little bit of paradise and would go back in a minute!
We arrived on a public holiday with parking in the town overflowing and the shops unexpectedly closed. Josh and Louise the owners were so helpful taking us into town and tiding us over until the shops opened. They are rightly proud of what they have created with a variety of sizes of accommodation with lovingly detailed features and lots of outside space. The site is quiet, down a short track with amazing views across the valley, up to the town of Volterra and north across the rolling Tuscan countryside. We were in the studio which was cosy and simply furnished and has a grassy terrace outside. The bigger units have lovely paved terraces. Grassy slopes and steps lead down to a terrific pool perched on the side of the valley. We would love to return with our children and grandchildren: the play area is fabulous. Volterra is fascinating and friendly while San Giminiano and other favourites are within easy reach. Louise and Josh live on site and are lovely and really helpful if you need anything. Highly recommended!
We have just come back from an amazing stay. We stayed in the Catina and it was perfect for us as we have two young kids. The terrace is huge and has the most amazing views from Volterra down the valley to the Tuscan hills. Everywhere is tastefully decorated to a high standard and there are ample facilities. The pool is just stunning and the playground is an added bonus if you have kids. Louise and Josh are lovely hosts ensuring great communication before we arrived and hospitality during our stay. Highly recommend.
