Le Colombier is a luxury holiday home set in ¾ acre of landscaped garden, 5 minutes walk from the Dordogne river, cycle track (Sarlat-Souillac) and village amenities. The accommodation is generously sized with contemporary styling and has all the modern facilities to enjoy a stress-free holiday - satellite TV/DVD, Hi-Fi, WI-FI, dishwasher, microwave. Downstairs, there is a large dining/living area opening out to a covered terrace that provides shade from the midday sun. The combination of 4 bedrooms and a spacious mezzanine allows it to comfortably accommodate up to 10 adults. Two modern bathrooms, one with walk-in shower, the other with bath plus shower and 2 separate WCs. Laundry area with washing machine and ironing facilities if required. Grass lawns with established plants and scrubs provide a perfect setting and make the property suitable for families with children or couples alike. Notes on accommodation: Wireless Internet now installed and operational from 2013 season. Cot and highchair available on request. Prices include electricity, pool heating (late April to early October), water and also free usage of a number of cycles that are kept at the property. Central heating is not operational during the summer season. A welcome folder is available within the property which details all tourist attractions in the area, practical information for the village and instructions for appliances, etc. Outside: ¾ acre of landscaped garden comprising grass lawns with established plants and scrubs. A patio and covered terrace overlook a 10 x 5m heated private pool. Sun loungers and gas BBQ provided. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron, ironing board, drying rack. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen provided within rental costs. There is a €50 cleaning charge for the property which is payable with the final balance.

Perfect Villa for Families

We stayed at Le Colombier as 2 families, consisting of 5 adults and 3 children for a period of 2 weeks. We felt that the property had enough room for us to stay without feeling as if we were living on top of each other. Very comfortable. The outdoor space was amazing, much larger than the pictures indicate. We ate "al fresco" for the whole holiday. Loved the swimming pool, the kids practically lived in it. The position couldn't have been better, it was so easy to drive to fantastic places such as Sarlat (amazing Saturday Market), Beynac, Rocamadour, Martel (fantastic steam train) and lots more. Saint Julien De Lampon was a pretty small village but had all of the local amenities required and within easy walking distance from the property. Would highly recommend.

Perfect location, beautiful area, great house

We enjoyed a wonderful two weeks at this property. The house delivered everything that was described on the website and more!

The pool was wonderful, the enclosed large garden area was great for the children to run around in. The terrace had plenty of welcome shade and two eating areas.

The lounge was comfortable and the house had great kitchen and dining facilities. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable.

St Julien de Lampon was in close walking distance (5mins) and had everything needed for day to day living.

We will return in the future and would highly recommend!

Lovely Modern Spacious House in a Great Location

The house is very clean, spacious and modern with good privacy and plenty of outdoor space for the children to run around safely.

The kitchen is well equipped and all appliances work well.

The swimming pool is a good size and we made very good use of it as the weather was quite hot. It was also a very nice touch for the owner to leave bikes for guest use. They are certainly good enough to cycle down to the river (5 mins away - canoe hire available) or a bit further afield, but do remember to bring your own helmets.

The house is also well located with the main tourist attractions all within an easy drive, the Dordogne itself is very pretty - an ideal location in which to relax. We recommend Jardins de Marqueyssac although I still haven't forgiven my son for making me do the via ferrata!

Excellent pool. Really liked the non-fussy interior - really easy to clean etc. For a top family holiday in France you would struggle to find better!

Wonderful house in a great location

We had a fantastic holiday at Le Colombier and really didn't want to come home ! The house is spacious and well equipped, having everything we needed for a really comfortable and relaxing stay (its amazing how many properties for 8-10 people only have saucepans large enough for 2-4 people, making cooking for a big family very difficult !!).

The pool is wonderful (good size and temperature) and we used it every day. The garden is lovely, large yet private.

The house is in a great location, 5 min walk into St Julien for a relaxing drink, and also only a slow 15 min walk down to the Dordogne, which we did on a number of occasions when the children wanted to play in the river rather than the pool.

We had a couple of days canoeing on the river, and also visited Domme, Sarlat, Le Roque Gageac and Chateau de Castelnaud - all great days out, with some amazing scenery, and within easy driving distance of the house.

Le Colombier is a lovely house in a great location and we had a wonderful, relaxing holiday - thank you.

Good location but some improvements could be made

The property was in a good location and the villa was comfortable. There were a few things which we felt could be improved. The pool was heated by the sun so wasn't as warm as we were hoping for. We had small children so it was too cold for them to be in for very long. There were also things lacking from the villa such as towels which we had to bring which was inconvenient. There was no ventilation in the house at all. We asked for some fans, especially because we had small children, and even with the windows open and shutters closed al day it was over 30 degrees in the bedrooms at night.

We were also disappointed that in spite of only using some of the beds available and cleaning the house thoroughly before we left (stripping beds, cleaning the bathrooms including bleaching the toilets etc) we had some of our deposit held back. 2 and a half hours cleaning is supposed to be covered in the cost and in spite of us leaving it in very good condition money was deducted. We were given some details of why this was, such as a baby bottle mistakenly being left under one of the beds. This would not have taken very long to clear up though and as mentioned we had paid for 2.5 hours cleaning which should have been adequate.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest I am sorry that you feel the property did not offer you the perfect stay but very pleased you liked the location. Most guests give us very positive reviews for both house and location. Let me take the time to comment on your points. Contrary to what you say, the pool is heated by a heat pump (like most heated pools in France) which for July was set to 27°C. At the time you stayed, air temperatures were exceptionally high, up to 35°C so the pool would have easily reached its set temperature and the heat pump would have temporarily switched off as it is thermostatically controlled. We find that this is good a temperature for most guests in July. Regarding towels, we do not advertise the property as including towels. You will see a separate symbol on Owners Direct for 'Towels provided' for properties that provide this service. We are completely transparent in this respect. The house is not air conditioned (again another symbol on Owners direct website) and if this was a priority with small children, perhaps a property should have been selected which had this facility. With the temperatures you experienced that particular week, most French properties would have seen slightly uncomfortable nights. We do not advertise the property as having fans and in over 7 years, we have not been asked to provide them. However, it is a good suggestion and we will certainly consider for next season. Regarding the cleaning, we have a trusting relationship with the couple that look after the house (for pool, garden and cleaning) for over 5 years and we see the house being left in a variety of conditions. In order to keep cleaning costs minimal and rates down to guests, we have to cover ourselves against the property being left in a condition where excessive cleaning in required. In this instance the property was left exceptionally dirty and rubbish was not disposed of at the end of your stay including beer bottles around the pool, nappies and baby milk. We do draw attention to these aspects in the contract, in the property handbook and on a notice in the hall. I would like to think that were considerate during your stay, accommodating an unexpected early arrival at 9am, despite advertised arrival being 4pm. I would finally comment that for the vast majority of guests, a full security deposit is returned and we will continue to work hard for guests, providing a lovely property in an excellent location. River beach in St Julien de Lampon (5-10 min walk). Plan d'eau (lake) at Grolejac where you can swim and hire pedlos, etc. It is a 10 minute drive or you can cycle from the village using the greenway. Etang de Tamniès just north-west of Sarlat.

By Road: Just 15km from the Souillac exit of the A20 Auroroute (this autoroute is toll-free for a 280km stretch from Vierzon to Brive-La-Gaillarde).

By Air: Bergerac (EGC) - Transfer time 1 hour, Brive-Souillac - Transfer time 30 mins, Limoges (LIG) - Transfer time 1 hour 50 mins, Toulouse (TLS) - Transfer time 2 hours. Please note that routes from both Toulouse and Limoges are an easy drive along the A20 motorway either from the South or the North.

Please consult flight from EasyJet, Ryanair, Jet2 and Flybe to these airports.

Distances:

St Julien de Lampon (centre of village 200m). Canoeing 500m. Sarlat-Souillac cycle track 500m. Sarlat-la-Caneda 13km.

The property itself is a 5 minute walk from the centre of St Julien de Lampon. Here you will find everything you require including bakery, butcher, grocery, bar with tobacconist, restaurants, doctor, pharmacy, post office and the bank with ATM. There is also a weekly market every Thursday. The village is set on the south bank of the Dordogne river, where there is a river beach and shaded picnic area. This is the perfect place to hire a canoe and mosy down the river or if you are feeling a little more energetic, cross the famous Viaduc Bridge and you can access the Sarlat-Souillac cycle track.

Other nearby activities/places of interest: Horse riding. Quercyland Water Park. Children’s Adventure Parks. The Gouffre at Padirac (famous cave with underground river).

Rentals are due in Euros and we take 30% deposit when you book and then the balance will be due nine weeks before your holiday. If you are booking within nine weeks of arrival then we will ask for the full payment when you book. We ask for a breakage deposit of €500/£400 also payable nine weeks before arrival. There is a €50 cleaning charge for the property which is payable with the final balance.

HALF OCCUPANCY DISCOUNT:
In order to attract smaller parties to the property in lower season, to take advantage of facilities more associated with a larger house (large garden, heated pool, etc), we offer a 10% discount on the weekly rates (cleaning fee still due) when only 2 bedrooms are used. This offer is only eligible in May, June, September and October. We hope this helps... Please note, failure to comply with the conditions of the offer by using additional rooms/linen will result in the discount being withdrawn by way of the security deposit.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Guests are asked to arrive after 4pm and to depart by 10am.
