About Peter Jackson
Olga & I are a retired professional couple who have lived & worked mostly in the Midlands. We have also spent time working overseas so we have seen a good bit of the world. But we always say that there is nowhere more beautiful than the English countryside, and Sidmouth in particular. The cottage is in a unique peaceful position and yet the shops and beaches are easily accessible on foot. We have seven grandchildren and they all love the place to bits. We go there regularly both winter & summer. As a result the cottage feels warm and lived in. We have always had dogs and the cottage is ideally placed for them. It will appeal to people who want to explore the area, have a seaside holiday, or just enjoy a restful break.
Peter Jackson purchased this Cottage in 1986
Why Peter Jackson chose Sidmouth
Olga's family used to take many holidays at the nearby Salcombe Regis campsite and Sidmouth was the place that we got to know well So when the chance arose we bought the cottage in 1986. It's prime position overlooking the Byes Riverside Park is the special feature. Our guests repeatedly praise it's homely character and level of equipment and comfort which is due to the fact that we come here often ourselves. Sidmouth is on the Jurassic Coast which offers outstanding UK coastal scenery. It is a completely unspoiled and unashamedly traditional stylish Regency seaside town. But there is a lot going on around the town including the well known folk festival every August. The Manor Pavilion Theatre presents frequent plays, musicals and recitals all to a very high standard. There is an old fashioned cinema, the Norman Lockyear astronomical observatory open to visitors, and lots of eating establishments to suit all pockets! There are no amusement arcades or funfairs.
What makes this Cottage unique
The best feature of the property is that you can, if you wish, park your car and find everything within easy walking distance. However it is also an excellent base for touring the surrounding area. Our high proportion of repeat bookings speaks for itself.

Awesome cottage, ideal for dogs lovely cottage , second visit will be back . Love Sidmouth and the people.
Just a brilliant location and lovely cottage
The property is a good sized cottage with a lovely conservatory and enclosed secure garden. It is right next to the Byes so could not be more perfectly located with just a short walk 15-20 mins in to Sidmouth itself. Very peaceful location and the neighbours are so friendly. We and our dogs loved it.
Fab cottage in great location
This is a splendid cottage, well appointed and in a great location with it's own small but perfectly formed garden!
Proper cosy country cottage
Very comfortable well equipped cottage really well located for amenities and perfect for dog owners.
The garden is enclosed though with low fences so a very adventurous pet could escape but our 2 were fine. Straight out of the house onto the riverside walk down to Sidmouth. Local pubs good, we liked the Volunteer (just round the corner) and Dukes in Sidmouth centre. The only reason the cottage has not got the full 5 stars is that it is in need of a little updating.
The cottage enjoys a lovely location directly alongside the Byrd country psrk. Perfect for dog lovers in particular. Not quite sure that Sidmouth was right for is but the surrounding area had a lot to offer. The opportunities for lovely walks were brilliant, would like to explore more in years to come.
