Merrivale is situated in the south west corner of the South Hams on the Devon/Cornwall border and enjoys uninterrupted panoramic sea views from its superb hill top position in the coastal village of Heybrook Bay within the parish of Wembury, an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). The location is perfect for couples or family holidays, walking the coastal paths, exploring the nearby beaches or simply relaxing in the garden or on the terraces soaking up the sun and watching the many boats and species of birds.
Merrivale is spacious and modern with most rooms having sea views. Three good sized bedrooms on the ground floor with three bathrooms and master bedroom and bathroom upstairs with balcony and stunning sea views. Each of the bedrooms has a bath/shower room either en-suite or adjacent. There is a large living room with log burner and Sky TV, a spacious well equipped kitchen, which opens into a large dining room with spiral stairs down to the games room. There is a balcony at the front of the dining room and large terrace in front of the lounge overlooking the sea, so that you can relax inside and outside.
Merrivale has gas fired central heating throughout with triple glazing to most of the windows and doors to provide a cosy feel when the south westerlies are blowing.
A lower terrace allows guests to sunbath in peace sheltered from the house.
The games room has a comfy sitting area with pool table, table football and air hockey, as well as a range of board games and jigsaws for all ages. There is another patio in front of the games room with bistro table.

About Richard Lait
I live in Birmingham with my wife Sarah and daughter Hannah, whilst our son Josh is having fun and working hard as a student in London. Our hearts are by the sea, which is why we love Merrivale and the peace of Heybrook Bay. We get a lot of pleasure knowing that others can enjoy the peace and tranquility that Merrivale offers. The sea air is very therapeutic and blows away the pressures of busy lives.
Richard Lait purchased this Bungalow in 2006
Why Richard Lait chose Wembury
We fell in love with the fabulous uninterrupted sea view and peaceful location. Merrivale is a beautifully spacious home and its location is convenient to explore both Devon and Cornwall with close proximity to the historic Barbican and Plymouth Hoe, as well as Dartmoor National Park. This is the undiscovered part of the south coast between Salcombe and Looe, so why not come and discover it? When we are ready for a slower pace of life, this is where we intend to retreat to live.
What makes this Bungalow unique
We enjoy the sea, peace and quiet, whilst being close to fabulous beaches, the rugged wilderness of Dartmoor national park and the city life of Plymouth, with its maritime history. In the summer months we enjoy walking the coastal path to Wembury and on to Newton Ferrers or Noss Mayo to enjoy a pub lunch overlooking the River Yealm. Just don't miss the last ferry as it is a long walk back! Sitting on one of the many terraces or balconies watching the boats on a shimmering sea with a cup of tea and a home made scone loaded with jam and clotted cream is a perfect holiday treat. Of course a glass of chilled wine watching the sunset over Cornwall is another holiday treat to be enjoyed.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Property was beautifully presented.....very clean and well equipped and more spacious than impression from photos. Views are fabulous....a treat to stay there.
Beautiful spot , clean and spacious property
We spend an extended family Christmas here and it was an ideal house - big enough to give people space but cosy enough for a warm atmosphere.
Very well equipped - partic the kitchen and dining area, RIchard was a very helpful owner and made us feel welcome. Amazing views.
Thank you Ralph and Sara, we’re pleased that you enjoyed your Christmas stay at Merrivale and found everything you needed to make your holiday a success. We hope to welcome you back again for a future holiday.

Fantastic home in a wonderful location.
Merrivale is the ultimate holiday get away home. We spent a family week together unwinding and planning a wedding.
The house was beautiful, had everything you needed and more. Spacious and glorious views. My husband went fishing and we spent many hours watching the ships and boats coming into and out of Plymouth Sound.
Ate in the nearby Eddystone Inn, good food at a reasonable price. Travelled to Dartmouth and Salcombe then to The Barbican for the aquarium and some retail therapy.
We were blessed with great weather and it made a wonderful break before winter set in.
Richard was so very helpful, sent us an in depth overview of the home which was great, and kept me updated with regards to the planned stay and any information we needed. Thanks to Sue for a spotless house and tasty treats!!
We will be back next year!
We are thrilled that you found Merrivale a perfect place for a family get away and we hope your wedding was successful.
We look forward to welcoming you back next year to give you more family time to explore the local area, as well as relax together.
Thank you from Sue, Sarah and Richard
The perfect getaway!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Merrivale - such a welcoming house - from the very moment we walked through the door we felt relaxed.
The views out to sea were breathtaking and constantly changing - you would never get bored of that view (especially with the telescope!)
I can honestly say that this is the first time we've been on holiday and not needed to be out and about every second of the day. The house is so lovely you could easily stay in and just watch the world passing by.
Thank you Sarah, Richard and Sue for our wonderful break!
We are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday at Merrivale and enjoyed the time to relax watching the ever changing sea view.

Home from home but with the bonus wonderful views!
We returned for a second visit following a wonderful holiday last year. Weather was not so kind but we still had a great time. So many places to visit. Three National Trust properties and the Aquaruim in Plymouth were good options for changeable weather. Lots of lovely walks too.
The house, as ever, was fantastic. Everything you could possibly want. The whole house is so well looked after by Sue and her team and the welcome goodies are much appreciated including the home made scones.
Thank you Richard for another memorable holiday.
Thank you Marjorie for a kind review and we are pleased that your return visit to Merrivale was as good as your first; bar the weather! As you said Merrivale's location is perfect for exploring nearby attractions, as well as providing some beautiful coastal path walking whatever the weather.
Margaret, who is 81 will be thrilled that you enjoyed her scones and I know Sue will let her mother in law know how much her baking is appreciated.
Many thanks from Sue, Sarah and Richard
This year was our fourth stay at Merrivale, it is such a beautiful house, fabulous layout, well organised, clean and equipped for memorable family holidays, not forgetting the stunning views across the coastline.
It is wonderful that returning guests can be as excited about Merrivale as new guests. We're pleased that you have had another memorable holiday and hope you return again for a fifth time. Thank you from Sarah and Richard
