Very central but quiet.Free parking. Welcome pack and well placed to see the best London has to offer.

We are in the oldest part of London on the east-side. Tradewinds Court is a development of the old London docks where the clipper ships used to race back from the Far East with their cargoes of tea and spices. A gated community, it is situated across the road from a Waitrose supermarket. Just a 2 minute walk from St. Katherine's Dock marina where there are yachts from all over the world and shops, pubs and numerous restaurants. Our rental includes a Free private parking space and a welcome pack.

A short walk from Tower Hill tube station, which will take you into the west end and theatre land - it's a great location to see all that London has to offer.

About Terry Harris

My wife and I bought this apartment from new in 1986 while I was still working in the Ad industry. We used it for London trips from our home in Kent. When I retired we decided to let the place out. We like to travel ourselves and have tried to make the place as comfortable as possible with all the things we would expect to find when we rent places on our trips both in the UK and abroad.

We have tried to make our apartment as comfortable as possible with all the things you need for a stay in London. After a hard day, walking and travelling around London it's a good, quiet place to come back to and relax. There is a BT Wi-Fi connection for your laptop and mobile phone

and a good selection of interesting books.

What makes this apartment unique

We are a gated community with a FREE parking space right next to our apartment - like gold dust in central London. We are just across the road from The Tower Bridge and the 1000 year old Tower of London. There is a really very good Waitrose supermarket just over the road that has been very well appreciated by previous visitors. And the St.Katherine's marina is a great place to be with boats of all kinds coming and going and with shops and restaurants all along the quay.

We are really located in a good spot to see all London has to offer.

Mr. Harris, I have posted this in a couple of Newsgroups. Feel free to quote me if you wish. I have a feeling that you are most likely to appeal to the repeat visitor than to the first timer: Americans in particular are very timid about traveling abroad. They are intimidated by foreignness - if I travel 500 miles here I am barely across part of the country, in Europe I am six countries away - a different perspective. Therefore newbies tend to be more likely to want the security of the hotel. Others are back-packing, money-saving, shoestring types - I don't know whether you would enjoy such campers in your flat. - Bob Fusillo

Notes on accommodation: We are only geared to accommodate two adults. There is only one bedroom and we have no facilities for children. We have a strict no-smoking policy. People under 25 and pets are not acceptable. Our rate is fully inclusive. Outside: We are a gated community in the centre of London. We have security gates and TV surveillance. It is usually a quite place. There are private car spaces around the blocks mixed with small gardens and pleasant walks around the old docks. Just across the road is St. Katherine's dock marina so you can relax and look at the boats. Shopping is easy because of the nearby Waitrose supermarket. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment is cleaned before your arrival with the beds made up. Towels and bedlinen are changed each week. There is no maid service. Other: In the hall there is a small cupboard with coat hanger stand, vacuum cleaner and an electric fan.

Nice flat in a superb location

We would definitely recommend this property as a wonderful place to stay when you are in London. Absolutely superb location in a quiet spot, Waitrose supermarket a stone's throw away, good bus and tube connections very close and just a wee stroll to the river. The flat itself is a nice and comfortable place to stay and the owner is good to deal with. Highly recommended. We had our second stay there in January, thinking 'why look for something else when we already know a place that we love?'

Comfortable and convenient flat

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this pleasant flat next to St. Katharine's Dock. The owner communicated well, met us outside the flat when we arrived, and kindly provided some necessities (coffee and milk) as well as treats (wine and cake!) to get us started. The neighborhood is bustling, but once you get inside the flat (which is off the street on a courtyard) everything is very quiet. Having a big Waitrose supermarket across the street is also a plus.

Peaceful in Busy City

Trade Winds apartment is clean and comfortable, near to Waitrose so you can fall out of bed and into the store - well almost! Safe area and very quiet for a good night's sleep after busy days.

Nearby St. Katharines Dock, Tower of London and interesting walks both north and south of the river. Easy access to nearby underground trains and 100 bus just outside complex. Buses can be slow in traffic congested areas so allow time for delays.

There are several steps to apartment which might not suit everyone but take your time and you will be fine.

I did not actually book my holiday with Owners Direct, although I have used their procedure in the past, so I am not sure why they are asking me for review but I am pleased to comply.

Just Great!

So, in a nutshell why did we like this place?.

Cleanliness: really clean (see dog warning)

Location: 10 minute walk from Tube Station, sited in a quiet enclave, close to river, excellent grocery store close by.

Facilities; everything worked well.

Cooking: gas stove, electric oven, small apartment sized fridge, sharp knives and enough pots and pans. We had some really good home cooked meals (ex. harvest dinner of roasted lamb, baked yams, braised red cabbage & salad).

Bed: queen sized and comfy.

Lavatory: clean, good shower, and according to my wife, a great tub.

Washing Machine: did not try

Wifi: consistently good reception.

TV: did not try

Caveat: there were a couple of dogs in the apartment when we arrived. If you have dog allergies this might not be the place for you.

Summary: we really liked the apartment. I have been told that when we return to London, we will be staying there.

Our location seems to be a winner with all our visitors - for transport , St.Katherine's Dock with it's choice of restaurants and the Waitrose supermarket just across the road is a winner. Dogs have never been allowed to stay in our apartment and the dogs Dan is referring to were ours and were only there while we prepared and cleaned the place. We look forward to your next visit.

Comfortable, Clean, Bright and Convenient

This is a lovely apartment that is conveniently located. There is a market directly across the street and the apartment is located within walking distance of the Tower Bridge and St. Katherine's . The apartment is large, bright and located in a safe area. I was welcomed with fresh flowers and welcome package from the owner. The owners are extremely responsive and wonderful to work with. I highly recommend this property.

Awesome Property, 7 minute walk from Tower Hill... Must stay...

I enjoyed my stay at Terry's place at Dockland.

It is perfect place for your holiday or Business.

Place well connected with rail and bus.

Tower Hill / Tower Gate station is just 7 minute interesting walk. You can access Bus No 100 Shadwell just opposite to Apartment place and opp to train station.

Waitrose supermarket is just opposite as well.

Dock is two minutes away and very beautiful, I heard there are interesting restaurants but I could not visit.

It is private property at 2nd floor and safe even if you are staying alone.

It is same as in photographs. Has lot of books and other useful stuff.

Has good kitchen, I enjoyed cooking few meals, has proper dinning area.

Room is good with proper space for wardrobe jackets etc.

Terry is very helpful owner and indeed nice individual.

I and my friend would recommend this property.

I have suggestion for Homeway site need to upgrade as I faced aissues with payment and I was pretty much unhappy with rigidness of homeaway site.

Travel:

Heathrow and Gatwick airports are each about 40 miles from London and it takes (from landing) about 2 hours to collect baggage, go through customs and checkout and train or bus it to our apartment. Visitors to London are advised to purchase 'Oyster cards' to get around London - this is a great saver.

Distances:

London IS the place of interest, you can never possibly see it all in one trip. It is vast and there is so much of interest to see. However some people do choose to visit places like Canterbury or Bath etc on a day trip by train or bus or hire car if you prefer to drive yourself.

Further Details:

Our location is on the east side, close to the old walled Roman city of London. There are walks for miles each way along the Thames river. A bus will take you to the Greenwich Observatory and Museum. There is the London Museum quite close, The British Museum and the V and A. The London Eye is the biggest Ferris wheel in the world which gives great views of London. The Tower of London is the oldest castle in England and is very local, as is Tower Bridge the huge bridge that is a tribute to the Victorian engineers- if you are very lucky you might see it go up to let a ship into the pool of London. You can tour HMS Belfast, one of our last war ships from the 2nd WW, moored in the middle of the river. The Royal Festival hall has many orchestral performances each week. You can visit the Globe Theatre, a copy of Shakespeare's theatre a short walk away. There are many markets to visit and boat trips up and down the river. Enough to keep anyone with any interest busy for days.
