My husband and I are semi retired professionals. We bought Rainbow Farm about 14 years ago purchasing it when it came up for sale after our family had rented it for two years for our holidays. We use it very much as home and have tried to make it as comfortable and well equipped as our UK home. We frequently take groups of friends from our church for short breaks and our annual family holiday get together takes place every Summer.
We enjoy the house in both Summer and Winter. It's good to curl up, after a good French style meal, with a book in front of the log fire and our grand children love it when it snows. The garden is a delight in Summer and we eat on the terrace whenever possible. La Fermette is my husband's dream of a home and he would like to relocate it to the UK.
Carole Ford purchased this farmhouse in 2002
We rented the house for two consecutive years and when it came on the market decided that we would buy it to continue to enjoy it. We We live in Kent so its a quick and easy journey for us to get to the farmhouse. We enjoy quiet countryside and like rural French life without the hassle of a long car journey. Our kids all enjoy being able to get there cheaply and quickly and with a car full of young children there's no stress on the short journey. We are still finding things to do in the area and are never bored.
With a growing family of grand children we enjoy the space of the house and garden. We like to take groups of friends for weekends and for us the journey is so quick and easy. I do not want to spend many hours in a car driving through France to get further south to a crowded beach when the beaches on the coast nearby are fabulous.
Sarah July 2012 "We have spent our holidays in gites for more than twenty years, in all parts of France, Yours comes very close to the top of the list for all amenities and comfort, and reasonable proximity to the sea".Adie "My friends and I really look forward to our annual get-together The house is spacious,, a well-equipped kitchen and six comfortable bedrooms. Lots of “extras” have been provided such as games, maps and books, making it very homely. There’s a woodburning stove for cold days and a patio with table and chairs for summer meals outdoors, so it’s always a wonderful setting for a relaxing time away.
from Tony: ...warm (even in early January), spacious and comfortable.
from Liz ...charming, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. An ideal place to relax and recharge. The traditional French village is charming and the rural setting is perfect for a restful holiday. We look forward to a return trip and would recommend it to our friends and family.

The property is well suited for large groups. We had 12 and never felt crowded. The house is well equipped with plenty of seating. It has a large garden and lovely countryside to walk through. It was clean and fresh linen was provided.
It is located close to many attractions and ten minutes from a good local supermarket.
We have been twice and fully intend to return for a many more visits. I would certainly recommend it and being an hour from the channel tunnel it is easily accessible.
Enjoyed our stay immensely. Found everything to our liking and loved the Games Room which we used a great deal. Kept the 6 year old very busy practicing his ping pong most days. Also did not have to worry unduly about the safely of three very active children when playing in the garden.
All information supplied was welcome and would not hesitate to recommend this property to a friend or relative.
We know the area very well indeed and would also mention that the AquaClub near Fort Mahon (which is not too far away if you go cross country) is worth a visit and is also near the beach and much cheaper than the same facility at Le Touquet.
Comfortable, clean, spacious house in pretty valley -well equipped for cooking for lots of people. Lovely terrace with garden furniture.Well maintained garden to enjoy sunshine, and large games room with table tennis and snooker for wet weather - we enjoyed both! Would highly recommend this, especially for two families wanting a shared holiday but enough space to themselves.
We visited for a family get together, there were ten of us and the accommodation was ideal especially the ample bathroom facilities.. There is also a good sized garden for children to play in and a deck area for outside dining. The location is ideal if you like quiet, the village is small and there is little traffic. There are also opportunity for good walking in the area. There is no shop in the village but a supermarket within a short driving distance and a wonderful bakery in a nearby village in a delightful mill setting.. The town of Montreuil is a not far away and we took the opportunity to see the yearly evening performance of Les Miserables which is spectacular.
The weather was against us on a couple of days and we took advantage of the log fire on a couple of evenings!!
The owner is easy to contact and very helpful and they also use the house a lot so it is very well looked after, clean and well equipped.
The house is very well equipped and the communication with the owners has always been prompt, clear and faultless. They are very friendly and flexible and do everything they can to assure their guests are satisfied.
The property has all the comfort you would expect from a modern holiday home, while some original elements have been preserved in a very interesting way. There is plenty of space, the house feels warm and cosy and it offers much privacy even to larger groups. We found the property impeccably clean and spotless on both occasions we were in Rimboval. We felt very much at home, La Ferme is charming, full of character and very functional.
The village is quiet and nicely located in the authentic French countryside. Montreuil, Le Touqet, Boulogne-sur-Mer are all within driving distance with their exquisite restaurants, beautiful sandy beaches, quirky shops and many other attractions. There are a few good walks which start right from the doorstep and will take you around vast farming lands, pristine woods, good spots to watch the sunset or even sunrise for those who fancy an early wake up call.
I would definitely recommend this beautiful farmhouse to everyone looking for a relaxing holiday in France, not far from the Channel Tunnel, close to a decent supermarket and famous beach resorts.
The owners communication and instructions for finding the house were excellent, we found ourselves outside the gates and were soon unloading the cars. The house was clean and well maintained (as it turns out the owners use the house frequently so keep a regular check on the facilities).
The house is spacious and well equipped with enough seating for all (12). Settling in takes a bit of investigating as the wood supply is in one building and the washing machine in another, but it is all there and well stocked. The rooms were comfortable and warm with good storage. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with plenty of pots, pans, cutlery and plates. A good oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and a dishwasher.
With twelve of us (four being children) we were worried about space, but there is plenty and we found that the television and DVD player hardly got used. The children spent a lot of time in the games room. We used the patio and the spacious garden regularly.
Carole's information booklet is excellent and whilst it has several rules and do's and don'ts these are all logical and there for a reason. It is worth reading the information as it clearly explains how to use the heating etc.
The local shops are well stocked and Hucqueliers (the local town) has a good boulangerie, supermarket, pharmacy and bank as well as other small shops.
We went on plenty of walks whilst there and found the locals all friendly and welcoming. We also visited many of the nearby attractions, which are easily accessible by car.
The wifi works well but be warned phone signal can be poor in the house.
Would I recommend La Ferme, yes, definitely. In fact we have rebooked and are returning next year.
Good walking area with many signposted routes within a few minutes of the houses. Good also for cycling. Many excllent local markets selling fish, meat and vegetables produced in the region. Many weekend markets selling bric a brac , arts and crafts and local foods Visit Montreuill for the sound and light show of Les Miserables performed on the ramparts. Excellent museum and many varied places to eat catering for all tastes and prices.
Miles of excellent sandy beaches within 35 minutes drive with free and easy parking. Le Touquet for beach, market and shops 30 minutes drive. Good markets Aqualud in Le Touquet is a water park with an eclectic mix of flumes, slides, chutes both indoor and out.
Rimboval is just over 1 hour by car from the Shuttle terminal at Calais and 1 hour 15 minutes from the port.
10 minutes drive to nearest town with useful shops. 20 minutes to walled town of Montreuil and Les Miserables Son et Lumiere in Summer. Within easy driving distance for a day out to Amiens (the largest cathedral in Europe with stunning stained glass windows), Arras, Bruges, WW 1 and 2 battle fields including Ypres. Denlys Park only 15 minutes. Bagatelle 25 minutes. La Coupole and Arques Crystal factory 30 minutes. Abbey de Valloires 30 minutes, Azincourt 25 minutes. 7 valleys is an area that has outstanding natural beauty and is a bird watchers delight. Paris and Bruges for a long day out are both possibilities if you get up early.
Good location for commemorating ww1 battles - Ypres easy driving distance.
Carrefour supermarket, excellent boulangerie and banks in nearest town 10 minutes. Hypermarket within 15 minutes drive. Mobile shops call in village several times weekly. Large range of restaurants within 20 minutes drive. Good walking in the area and maps left at house. Chocolate factory tours in Beussent 15 minutes. Interesting picturesque watermill at Maintenay serving good lunches and snacks and selling home made bread. A real treat is a meal at Le Fournil in Coupelle-Vieille (15 minutes away) Outstanding food and wine but does not come cheap.
The cosy log burning stoves in both houses make for a good relaxing stay in the winter to simply enjoy rural France and good food and wine.
