About Clare David
We live in Haslemere, Surrey . We bought Le Bourg in 1989, having been attracted by its village centre setting, large walled garden and proximity to places like Dinan and sandy beaches, both of which are less than 20 minutes' drive away and have spent many happy family holidays there with our four children, now aged from 26 to 19. Over the past 28 years we have significantly upgraded the house, converting the second floor, installing a fitted kitchen and, most recently, the downstairs bath and shower room. In the time we have owned the property, St. Meloir des Bois has become one of the most attractive villages in the area, thanks largely to the efforts of the Mayor, Michel Desbois, who is the son-in-law of the couple who look after our keys. Our house is opposite the excellent and popular bar/creperie.

Relaxing autumn week
A really lovely house in a quiet village (apart from the church bells!) The house was well equipped and warm (we were there end of October) There was lots to see and do in the surrounding area which we know quite well from previous visits to this area. The information pack for the house was very informative and the booking and key pick up arrangement was all done smoothly. We would recommend and maybe visit again in the future. Thank you
FR: Superbe maison en Côte d'Armor - GB: Beautiful house in Côte d'Armor
GB:Beautiful old Breton house in the village, very quiet and very well exposed to the south. The house is large, the equipment is a bit older (fridge and dishes), it lacks a large garden table for lunch outside but otherwise everything is there. very large garden available as well as children's stadium at 2 minutes. 20 minutes from the sea and quiet sandy beaches, walk in the forest and seaside ideal. Cities and amenities nearby. Welcome villagers very warm and friendly.
We couldn’t have asked for more. The house is gorgeous, and the area is delightful. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the crêperie across the road is fabulous.
One of my favourite things was the very well thought out manual for the house, with loads of recommendations for places to go and things to do. With a large family, it really took the stress out of planning our outings!
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely house with us.
Lovely comfortable cottage
We stayed in the cottage for a week in May and, after arriving later than we expected, were helped by the local Creperie owner who contacted the woman in the village who kept the key. All of the locals were friendly and we had 2 fantastic meals at the Creperie that week. The cottage was well equipped and roomy. Good location for touring and the vet in nearby Jugon-Les-Lacs was very helpful with dealing with the doggies who had a fantastic time. It's also worth a visit to the Charity shop in Jugon which is a real 'Alladins Cave'. We would definitely book this cottage again, (if they will have us!)
Thank you for your review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay in St Meloir and will be delighted to have you back to stay in future.

Very comfortable and quite convenient.
Mr and Mme Labbe came to say hello and introduced us to their grand-daughter. The area is quiet, but near to larger villages/towns. We went out every day to the coast, Dinan, St Malo et al. Wine is cheap and quite good. We were very lucky with the weather, it was very warm. The Gite was very accommodating for ten of us, plenty of room.
The nearest beach is at St Jacut de la Mer about twenty minutes drive from the property. This is a sandy and child friendly beach but there are many other sandy beaches only slightly further away along this coastline.

The property is 8 miles west of the medieval town of Dinan and about an hour from Brittany's capital city of Rennes to the South. It is forty minutes west of Mont St Michel which is on the Brittany/Normandy border.
There is a bar and creperie in the village itself. The nearest supermarket is a mile and a half away. Larger supermarkets are in the nearby towns of Dinan and Plancoet. There is an excellent wine cellar, 'Le Manoir De Bacchus' on the edge of the village specialising in Bordeaux wines. The owners speak very good English. There are many excellent restaurants and places of interest in the area which are listed in our guide to the property provided to visitors.
