The home itself is a beautifully decorated and luxurious holiday hideaway. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms (1 of which is en-suite) plus a spacious private garden make this home the perfect Lake Como retreat. The two double or twin bedrooms each have a zip and link bed (king size when linked and two generous singles when apart). A third fun bedroom with bunk bed and its very own porthole window furnished with children in mind is also available. The sun room or 'look out', situated on the first floor is a quiet spot where you can relax with a book or a glass of prosecco and watch the amazing sunsets over the lake, it’s also a great spot for meeting for drinks before dinner. Large sitting room has a beautifully restored antique floor and is the perfect party room to enjoy family games we all enjoy playing on holiday. Cook and eat indoors in the modern dining kitchen or outdoors. BBQ for outdoor cooking and old stone table to dine alfresco under an iron gazebo protecting you from the sun.
We live near Loch Lomond in Scotland most of the year and visit Italy as much as we can. Lake Como is an area we have been coming back to since our early twenties.... A few years ago now!
Helen Battersby purchased this apartment in 2009
In love with Lake Como since the late 80's because of the drama of the scenery, which has remained unchanged, we have kept coming back because of the people.
Five minutes off the main off road it is so easy to get to (and visit from) but our little bit is like a secret, quiet when we want to be but with lots of places to eat, drink and be merry when we are in the mood.
Our favourite times are spent on our private terrace, under twinkly lights, watching the sun rise and set across the lake.
We rented the Villa Casa Fontana in early September this year and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property has been very tastefully updated and renovated internally to make the best of the great views of the lake from the main rooms, especially from the very pleasant and airy 'look out'. The property is well supplied for all your needs if you are going to be spending a lot of time and making full use of Villa Casa Fontana for relaxation. Villa Casa Fontana and the area of Carate Urio though are also ideally situated for touring Lake Como and its environs. We particularly enjoyed using the ferries, which was a completely stress-free way to explore the lake and the surrounding towns. The ferry can be boarded from the little pier across from Hotel Orso Bruno and sticks to a rigid timetable. Heading north the scenery is stunning and a visit to the lakeside towns of Menaggio, Bellagio and Varenna are essential. Dougie, Scotland-September 2009
We have the fortune to stay here earlier this year. Oh my, how lucky were we. What a stylish house. The owners have taken great care to make this house a true gem on Lake Como. Incredibly stylish and all the home comforts that frequent travellers expect. Really comfortable beds, really well stocked kitchen, fabulous outdoor area and with views up and down Lake Como that you would die for. I really thought I had died and gone to heaven each morning. I can't recommend this house highly enough - if you're going to Lake Como - don't miss this one - absolutely amazing :)
