Delightful property with a super pool

  • 5 of 5

La Cassetta is a delightful property in a really quiet area. The Pool is perfect for those hot lazy days. The bedrooms stay cool even on the hottest days too. A wifi hot spot is a lovely little bonus too. Amenities nearby, and the fab town of Barga is only a few minutes by car. We love it!

We wanted a base where we could visit the main attractions of the area i.e Pisa and Florence. Adele had a few days free in her diary so we grabbed them. After flying into Pisa and staying in a central hotel for the night we set off for Barga. We were expecting to find a tiny villa with a even more tiny pool. To say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The villa is upside down, with the living areas upstairs and the bedrooms and main bathroom downstairs. It is not massive but the layout and finishes are well thought out and make the most of the space available. The master bedroom has french doors that open into the lower area of the garden (not particularly well tendered) with steps up to the pool area (note of caution, small children could fall off the side of the steps, although there is a gate at the top). As the bedrooms are downstairs they stay cool in the height of summer.

There were 4 in our party and we had ample space.

Car parking is available directly outside of the villa, however you need to be driving nothing larger than a toy car to be able to get to the space due to the narrow lane access.

The villa is surrounded by other properties, but not directly overlooked. These other proprieties seem to be owned by Italians and were only occupied at the weekends.

Travel time to Pisa is just over the hour and I think it was nearly 2 hours to Florence.

Other than the tower and a few other landmarks Pisa is really not worth bothering with. Florence is lovely, however the star attraction in the area is Lucca. There are no show stopping 'must sees' in Lucca but the who old town is just fantastic. There is very little in Barga and a car is a must.

All in all Adelle and La Casetta di Barga get the thumbs up from this family

Excellent base

  • 4 of 5

We had a great holiday staying in this lovely house with a good sized pool and views over the mountain.

It is immaculately clean, beds made on arrival and a basket of goodies to cover your first evening and morning.

Ricardo and Adele were easy to get hold of especially when we managed to blow the electric fuse. They even treat you to a complementary meal in their lovely restaurant in Barga.

You definitely need a car to get around to the supermarket and into Barga which are both 5 minutes away.

The house is in a small quiet village, so you do hear the neighbours and some traffic but it is easy to access the main roads to Florence, Lucca and Pisa. The drive to Florence is just under two hours and we stayed overnight to make the most of Florence at night.

We had a great time in a lovely part of Tuscany.
