Summer Fun : In summer, Zinal is perfect for those wanting a nature holiday away from the masses - hiking, mountain biking, climbing, golfing, horse riding, water parks, thermal pools, tennis, wine tours. It is truly Switzerland's unspoilt gem.
We are the Moorhouse family - Tony, Therese, Jamie (7) and Emily (7 months). We are all British but Therese grew up in Australia so has dual nationality. We live in central London so our mountain retreat gives us a fabulous break from the bustle and the smog of London.
Therese Randall purchased this apartment in 2009
This property was bought off plan and furnishing it was a wonderful labour of love for Therese. We wanted the fittings and furnishings to be super comfortable and stylish so upgraded many features from the original designs including a better kitchen and bathrooms. We were thrilled by the standard of workmanship of the Swiss builders and the apartment is better than we had dreamed of. We have shared so many wonderful holidays with our extended family and friends in Zinal.
Definitely the location. We are right in the centre of town but also very close to the ski lift so getting up the mountain is so very easy. The water in Zinal is gorgeous. Its like bathing in Evian everyday. The view from the living areas is fabulous and its wonderful to be greeted by this in the mornings. My husband likes the view from the master bathroom.
We had a wonderful 3 nights in this gorgeous apartment! It was exactly as pictured and communicated by Therese, the owner. She provided excellent communication beforehand and we were able to contact her husband while we were there.
The house had a gorgeous view of the mountains from pretty much every room in the house! It was very clean and there were plenty of appliances to use for cooking most of our meals at home. (toaster, coffee maker, immersion blender, pots and pans). We enjoyed playing some of the card games that she had the house stocked with and our children enjoyed watching DVDs, reading books, and playing with the toys she provided us with.
The city of Zinal itself is very small, but had a friendly atmosphere! Very crisp, fresh, clean air and lots of cute shops! Definitely perfect for our getaway to go skiing! Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home!
Thoroughly enjoyed our summer stay in this well equipped and very comfortable apartment. There was plenty of room for the three couples who comprised our group, to cook and relax together. Benefits of the apartment included central location to all amenities; wonderful views from the balcony and breakfast table to snow capped mountains; peace and tranquility of the property; and the owner, who was most helpful with my list of queries. Would love to return for future visits to Zinal!
This place is fantastic. We came after having had a great family ski holiday and decided to try the mountains in the summer (which we never do). I cannot say enough about the accommodation or the town.
The 'apartment' is beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. There is plenty of room and it has all the mod cons you need in the kitchen as well as Wi-fi, DVD, flat screen for all the wind down time (there is even a WM). The kitchen is a lovely red bespoke design and the living area enhanced by unbelievable views of the mountains and town.
Zinal: You are bang in the middle of the little quaint town and 5 minutes walk from the lift (10 if you have kids and ski boots in tow). We love the skiing and is apparently a favourite with the Swiss. We were amazed that there was so much to do in the summer- apart from walking and the obvious mountain biking, there are tons of activities in for everyone - festivals, tennis, swimming in a nearby town and a water slide pool/spa 40 minutes away.
We will be back! Thank you!
For me Val d'Anniviers is one of the most beautiful areas in the Alps. I love climbing and skiing in the area. We enjoyed the views over the village of Zinal and the Besso from the appartment. We really loved the open living room, and characteristic interior. Therese (the owner) was very flexible and kind. Without any doubt I would recommend this appartment.
Zinal is Switzerland's highest inhabited town resting at an altitude of 1670m. It lies amidst a magnificent mountain landscape surrounded by three 4000-metre-peaks, in the French speaking region of Valais. It is authentically Swiss and family friendly. There are many restaurants/ bars, two ski hire shops, two supermarkets, a winter crèche, beauty salon and a church.
Most of the skiing is between 2000 - 3000m, guaranteeing a long ski season. The region has over 220 km of pistes, 44 lifts, plus vast off-piste and high altitude skiing, catering for all standards. One ski-pass covers the five skiing areas of Zinal - Grimentz - St-Luc - Chandolin and Vercorin and a free shuttle bus operates between them. Within the Zinal resort, there are 9 lifts with 70 kms of pistes.
In summer, Zinal is perfect for nature holidays away from the masses. Hiking, mountain biking, climbing, golfing, horse riding, water parks, thermal pools, tennis, wine tours, it is truly Switzerland's unspoilt gem.
