Camp cottage was originally a two up two down stone cottage with no facilities. We fell in love with it due to the views and tranquillity, the light can be incredible, the sunsets that can be seen from the end of the garden are breathtaking. We renovated the cottage and built an extension to make it a comfortable living space for our family. Anyone who wants to escape to either paint or finish that phd, Camp Cottage is the place to be. Mobiles do get an excellent signal in the area and the Internet is now available. All dogs welcome! A Non-smoking cottage.
My family have enjoy wonderful holidays and weekends away at the cottage. We just love to escape the stresses of our busy week, take in the views and the tranquility of the area.
Denise purchased this cottage in 1976
My father-in-law bought the property as he was an artist and wanted to paint the changing scenery as it has wonderful light up there. We restored the cottage adding, water, electricity and completely updated it to its fantastic standard making it home from home.
Peace and isolation. Just waking up to amazing scenery and beautiful light.
We had a great time at the cottage and particularly enjoyed the peace and quiet. At night there was just the wind and an occasional bleat from the sheep. Returning to the city I was aware of traffic noise, which I otherwise hardly notice! We liked watching the pheasants in the garden and my wife gorged on damsons every day! The lovely open view from the windows and the garden is a pleasure to contemplate.
Herefordshire was a new part of the country for us and it lived up to expectations: gentle, non-spectacular landscapes, good for walking, and very relaxing.
Well we’re back home again after another fabulous week at Camp Cottage. Can’t believe we were so lucky with the weather again!
We had such a relaxing time, we really didn’t want to come home. The cottage is a very special place and we love exploring the surrounding countryside.
I’m sure we’ll be in touch to book up again for some time next year. Sarah 9/13
This is the best dog friendly property we have stayed in, the dogs loved the garden. The cottage is really lovely and has everything you need for a wonderful break. I thought the kitchen was really well equipped and found it easy to cook proper meals every evening. The location is simply stunning and there are so many walks from the doorstep, the car hardly was used. It was a pleasure dealing with the owner who made the whole process very straight forward and made us feel very welcome. We will be back.
Camp cottage is a gem of a place. Plenty of room for us and the 3 dogs. Cozy and comfortable with amazing views. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfy sofas, chairs and bed to relax in at the end of a days exploring. Unfortunately the weather wasn't brilliant, but it didn't stop the dogs running around the huge garden, and us exploring the walks around the area. The Wye Valley way is only a 5 minute walk away. There are plenty of local footpaths that take you to lovely little villages.
If you love peace and quite, and wildlife for company, this is the place for you.
We had a fabulous week at the cottage... We wanted remote we got remote... Arrived with a sea of sheep separating to let us through... The views are stunning and the cottage fitted the bill... The added bonus was the weather... No rain until it was time to come home! Surrounded by sheep and nothing but the sound of wildlife, beautiful walks on the doorstep and plenty of places to visit near by (once the sheep let you through)...perfect.
This is by far the best cottage and location that we've stayed in to date. To wake up to the panoramic views was sublime and the cottage felt like home. The owners have taken the time to create a cosy atmosphere as the furnishings feel as though they belong to the cottage rather than the usual dated hotchpotch of household goods found in many holiday cottages.
There is also a sense that dogs are truly welcome and they really appreciated the garden and open spaces.
The cottage was clean and well equipped for our needs. We did not feel the need to visit many pubs or restaurants as we preferred to eat in the tranquil setting of the cottage. The butcher in Fownhope was very good and would recommend his steak pie.
I'm torn between giving a good review and keeping Camp Cottage a secret so it's available for our next holiday!!!
I just had to thank you for our fantastic holiday at Camp Cottage, everything was perfect, the fluffy towels, the quality bedding, the well equipped kitchen, and the garden, which is totally dog proof was so peaceful with stunning views, Hope and Emma our dogs loved it as much as we did.
We are hoping to return in October Jenny & Ian
when we first arrived and went outside to the garden our words were wow and amazing. its so peaceful and charming in every way the views are outstanding and each window you look through is a joy. plenty of wildlife to see birds and squirrels running around having fun. one day my husband called me to see a deer running through the field just below the hedge at the bottom of the garden.
