About Ann Walker

We live in the countryside in England and decided that the seaside would provide a different experience for everyone. Our children who are now in their late twenties and early thirties still come with their friends and partners. We love sharing the cottage with our visitors some of whom have been 10 or 12 times.

Ann Walker purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Ann Walker chose South East Cornwall

We first visited Polruan in the 1990s. Despite the fact that it poured with rain every day and that we had three small children and a dog with us, we loved every minute of that holiday. We were determined to buy a house nearby and when some years later an opportunity presented itself in Polruan we started to renovate September Cottage. We visit as often as our jobs permit and our children who are now grown up love to come to Cornwall as well. Our eldest son proposed to his girlfriend on the cliffs in Polruan so it has become a special place for all the family. We have received many visitors over the past few years who have sent glowing letters of recommendation about the cottage and its wonderful views over the Fowey estuary.

What makes this cottage unique

Wonderful views over the bay towards Fowey with the many boats which sail into the harbour. The unspoilt village of Polruan, near the attractions of a tourist centre like Fowey but lovely and peaceful to come home to after a day of sightseeing and walking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time and your cottage was fantastic. Spotless, beautifully presented and a setting that exceeded expectation. I would honestly say that your website photos do not do it or its location and views justice. (Dan Hemmings - June 2009)

We have had a wonderful time at your lovely cottage - so appreciated the way you have decorated and furnished it, the views on all sides and how cosy and warm we all were - quite rare in most places we have visited in winter. (Nancy Wells January 2014)

Holiday in Polruan

  • 5 of 5

We had four nights in September Cottage late in September. Very comfortable and warm and well equipped cottage, with lovely views onto Fowey Harbour. With easy access to The Coast Path, walks can be taken straight from the cottage without needing the car. Access by car is limited by the very narrow streets, which is the characteristic of the village. It was useful to have a parking space within easy walking distance. Excellent sandwiches can be bought from Crumpets, who also bake very good bread and pies nearby in the village. Evening meals at The Lugger Inn were very good, with day boat fish dishes etc and friendly service. Booking advisable. We plan to return to the cottage sometime next year.

Polruan is a very picturesque village and September Cottage has the most wonderful views of Fowey and river from the living room. Excellent for walking nearby coastal path and exploring further afield in Cornwall - we particularly enjoyed an outing to Charlestown and its Shipwreck Museum, feasting at the Lugger Inn in Polruan.

Owner's Response: Dear Sue Thank you very much for your review. Yes, the location of Polruan is quite spectacular especially as you arrive first in the village and look over the estuary. We are indeed fortunate to have lovely views and glimpses from all sides of the cottage especially as you say from the living room. I am so glad you enjoyed your holiday in England and safe return home to Australia. Best wishes Ann Walker
