About Ann Walker
We live in the countryside in England and decided that the seaside would provide a different experience for everyone. Our children who are now in their late twenties and early thirties still come with their friends and partners. We love sharing the cottage with our visitors some of whom have been 10 or 12 times.
Ann Walker purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Ann Walker chose Polruan
We first visited Polruan in the 1990s. Despite the fact that it poured with rain every day and that we had three small children and a dog with us, we loved every minute of that holiday. We were determined to buy a house nearby and when some years later an opportunity presented itself in Polruan we started to renovate September Cottage. We visit as often as our jobs permit and our children who are now grown up love to come to Cornwall as well. Our eldest son proposed to his girlfriend on the cliffs in Polruan so it has become a special place for all the family. We have received many visitors over the past few years who have sent glowing letters of recommendation about the cottage and its wonderful views over the Fowey estuary.
What makes this Cottage unique
Wonderful views over the bay towards Fowey with the many boats which sail into the harbour. Views on all sides of the cottage. The unspoilt village of Polruan, near the attractions of a tourist centre like Fowey but lovely and peaceful to come home to after a day of sightseeing and walking. We have our parking space about 100 metres from the cottage.

Perfect cosy cottage for a week’s holiday in Polruan. Quiet location, close to the harbour and coast path with lovely views towards Fowey and up river, from the living room. Well equipped and comfortable.
Thank you for this 5 star review which I received today. . I am delighted you had a good holiday and that you liked September Cottage and the village of Polruan. Thank you too for taking the trouble to write this review. It is very kind of you.
Delightful cosy cottage
A charming little cottage that has been beautifully modernised and is very well equipped. Two very comfortable double rooms with really good beds and a lovely view from the pretty upstairs sitting room. Easy access to the harbour and the foot passenger ferry to Fowey.
Relax and unwind in picturesque Polruan
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in September Cottage. It was perfect for a few days away to explore Cornwall but we particularly enjoyed Polruan itself. The local pubs were both open and food at The Lugger was delicious (fish pie was superb!)
We did several of Ann’s recommendations including the Hall Walk and the visit to Polridmouth but also enjoyed hopping on the passenger ferry to Fowey. The ferry to Mevagissey hadn’t started yet but I’ve no doubt that would be just as picturesque and well worth it. The cottage itself had everything we needed and was really comfortable, just what was needed for relaxing by the fire looking at the stunning view of Fowey.
It is a beautiful cottage and an extremely pretty part of the country and we hope to return one day.
Thank you so much for your review. I am so glad that you have had a nice time. This winter has not been the best, weather wise in England compared to our usual Cornish winters but all our guests have still had a fun and relaxing holiday. It is kind of you to take the trouble to write.
Beautiful cute cottage with great views of the estuary. Cosy with the stove fireplace. Small but well equipped kitchen. In a great location and nice and quiet. The local shop was very handy for all sorts of things. It was a shame crumpets tea rooms was closed although both pubs were open. The ferry ran at this time of year till 7.00 in the evening which made it a bit difficult to get across to Fowey to restaurants unless you go early or drive all the way round. We mainly stayed in the evenings and warmed ourselves by the stove. I lovely homely cottage like a home from home. Would definitely recommend staying at September Cottage.
Glad you had a nice time and enjoyed the cottage. That is the main thing.
I am sorry that the Crumpets tea room was closed but it is run by a one 'woman' band who was probably spending Christmas with her family.
Thank you for recommending us.
This is a perfectly packaged little cottage with stunning estuary views. Comfy beds and sofas, wonderful shower, great log burner. We took a walk around the estuary and had lunch in the pub by the ferry crossing to Fowey, before catching the ferry across and another back to Polruan. We were lucky with the weather (for November) and I only wish we could have stayed for longer.
Thank you for this lovely review. It sounds as though you did the Hall Walk. We usually do that too- amazing views and a pub at a convenient stopping off point. So glad you had an enjoyable visit.
Comfortable cottage in a very peaceful location
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It was in a beautiful, peaceful location and had great views over the river. The kitchen is well equipped for its size and the living area is great - we loved looking out at the ferry going over to Fowey every day. The wood burning stove made it feel really cosy and warm and we were able to get logs from the local store without any problems. Really useful to have the washing machine/dryer! Polruan is a lovely little town, and we enjoyed catching the ferry across to Fowey, which has more shops and restaurants. Ann and Chris are great hosts and were on hand if we needed them. Would definitely consider coming back.
Dear Marie Louise

Polruan has a well stocked village shop, two pubs serving food and a small tea-shop. Fowey has a number of excellent restaurants, interesting shops, art galleries and banking facilities. There are large supermarkets in St Austell (Tesco and Asda) and Liskeard (Morrisons) and Waitrose is at Saltash and Truro and a useful Spar and an excellent butcher in Fowey and Pelynt.
