About Sam and Vicky
Sam and Vicky Elliott moved to Kerabellec in February 2015 from Eastbourne , just shortly after both his parents died and our two children having finished university were settled in jobs in England. ( We live on site in our own house ) Sam had spent the last 30 years working abroad in healthcare, whilst Vicky had been working in local schools in Eastbourne as a teaching assistant, cover supervisor , matron and a housekeeper. We decided that we needed to spend some time together after years of feeling like ships passing in the night . So we decided to make some time for ourselves and we found Kerabellec, where we walk our two small dogs every day and it is a wonderful place to live all year round with the birds, cows, deer and wildlife which still amaze us when they come in to the garden and we rush to pick up the binoculars. We hope that you enjoy Kerabellec as much as we do.
Sam and Vicky purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Sam and Vicky chose La Chapelle-Neuve
All four of our properties are in a fantastic location and very central to head out for the beaches , towns , eating or shopping with South facing aspects , which means that we have the sun all day on the complex. It is a bright, spacious complex but everybody still has their own privacy . Guests can take books or games from the site with a picnic and sit down by the river under the weeping willow tree, and there is a calm and peace that helps you to unwind from the usual hectic work/ school life .If you bring your wellingtons or paddling shoes, the river is only a few inches deep in the summer months and great for looking for habitats with the children paddling in the water. Or the younger children have space to ride bikes or skate. Le Pierrot has a double bedroom , and a twin bedroom which accommodates 3 single beds ( size of room approx. 14 feet by 14 feet ) , which is ideal for a family with children who are happy to share or a group of adults who are happy to share bedroom and bathroom space. Le Pierrot has a cosy family bathroom with bath , shower , toilet and sink . The cottage is very old and used to be the village bakery for Chapelle neuve . ( sleeps 5 ) La Faisane our other 2 bedroomed gite is fantastic for the less able guest , teenagers or 2 lots of coupled holidaying together because La Faisane has a double bedroom upstairs with an ensuite and the twin bedroom downstairs also with its own shower room .The doorway is also wide enough to accommodate wheelchair access and with an open plan style lounge, kitchen diner this gite is next to the swimming pool and great for a less able person. L Hirondelle our 3 bedroomed gite with a double bedroom ensuite , 2 twin bedrooms and a second family bathroom is great for families bringing extra teenagers or grandparents . One of the sofas in the lounge area makes a double bed . La Alouette is absolutely great for two families wishing to holiday together and share the cost . ( sleeps 8 ) + sofa bed in the lounge
What makes this Cottage unique
Kerabellec is fantastic for group bookings, where friends and families have the opportunity to all meet for a holiday together (as well as individual family holidays) as the complex sleeps 22/24 plus travel cots. All on one site everybody still has their own space and privacy. Kerabellec is central for , beaches, towns , historical sights, markets , river kayaking , water sports golf and fishing all within 30 minutes or less on the fantastic French roads . Every gite is south facing . We do have wildlife here , with the red squirrel, birds of prey, the deer who come to the river at night for a drink and thousands of small birds and also the tiny little bats that fly around late at night ,so fantastic for the animal lover. There are some beautiful French towns really worth a visit such as Vannes , Auray, Josselin, Rennes and many more but especially Quimper which has a magnificent cathedral in the centre of the medieval town. For the beach lover you would really love Quiberon, Guidel , Lamor Plage , St Philbert , Trinite Sur Mer or the wild and rugged Nevez and Kerhillio suitable for dogs . For the bird lover the sea estuary of Nostang is a beautiful experience only 20 minutes from Kerabellec. If you love modern art then the chateaux and sculpture park just through Bignan is well worth a visit And it is FREE for you to go in to the art exhibitions . Kerabellec is only 15 minutes from Pont Augan where you can take your bikes and ride along the Blavet for miles. Kayaking is also available at this site and is great for an adult or family activity.

A wonderful location for a family stay
We stayed at Kerabellec for our two week holiday in July and loved every minute of it. The owners, Sam & Vicky, are super friendly and helpful. It was our first holiday in Brittany, and they gave us plenty of ideas. The small complex felt relaxed, with a super swimming pool and play area for the children. We stayed in La Faisane, there is loads of space with two double bedrooms and a private patio with BBQ which we used most nights. We visited some amazing attractions and towns nearby such as Josselin, Vannes and a really weird but fascinating sculpture and arts garden in Lizzio, it was like being inside Dr Suess's mind, worth checking out with young children! Overall, we will definitely be returning to Kerabellec when we next visit Brittany, so book with confidence. Mark, Cheryl, Charlotte & Edward
Beautiful gites, amazing settings and facilities. We have stayed twice and have booked again for a family of five. The gites are all up held to a professional standard and Sam and Vicky (the owners) are really hospitable, approachable and friendly- so much so, we are going again twice next year! Such a stunning part of France, lots to do and very diverse. There is something for everyone either on site, walking in the nearby forests, visiting very close villages, beaches, cities or family delights such as le petit d'lire even kingoland! Definitely recommended, even having loved the south of France for years!
Hi Debbie and Mark
It was really fantastic to see you all again. The children had grown so much and were able to enjoy so many more places that you had not explored before. They were full of chatter and confidence wherever they had been that day.
Paddy and Huni ( our dogs ) love to see the children and Paddy loves them throwing toys for him.
It was great to see the pool being used ( at Easter ) now that the new retractable cover has been fitted ., keeping the children warmer when swimming on the cloudier days.
It is a smashing place for dogs and if Kylie ever gets over her travel sickness she would be very welcome also, as we are dog friendly here at Kerabellec and do not mind helping out with dog minding if you are off to Le Petit d Lire ( bouncy castles theme park at Trinite Sur Mer ) or Kingoland .
Thank you for booking Le Pierrot agin with us for next year and remember to use your Brittany Ferry 10% discount code ( ask if you need it ) if you decide to travel by ferry.
Take care everybody

Wonderful family holiday
We have just returned from a most wonderful family holiday- we were 11 in all and I can say that this was the perfect place for us. Not only did Rhiannon come and find us (we got lost), but Sam and Vicky were absolutely fabulous hosts, nothing was too much trouble.
The children played to their hearts content in the heated pool all week, whilst the adults chilled and enjoyed the well equipped and comfortable gites. The open plan Kitchen and sitting rooms were brilliant for all of us to spend the evening together playing games and enjoying each other company. The lunches and even breakfast were enjoyed out on the patio areas, whilst being able to keep an eye on the the younger members of the the party. We explored around the Lac de Guerledan and found the Abbaye de Bon Repos which is well worth a visit. As well as enjoying the market at Carnac and the wonderful beaches around this area.
We loved staying at Kerebellec, thank you so much Vicky, Sam and Rhiannon for making our holiday perfect. If you stay at kerebellec you will not be disappointed.
What a lovely family of teenagers , it really was great to see them all enjoying time together either by the pool or playing games in the gite by the wood burner . You were all such an easy family to host even though you were a large group.
Our dogs Huni and Paddy loved the children throwing toys for them in the safe garden by the pool .
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time here at Kerabellec and we would love to see you all return sometime in the future.
Have a wonderful summer
Vicky and Sam
A lovely week
We had a lovely week with our family of 4. It was very dog friendly and we had a great time cycling on safe river side and canal paths. We found a beach that allowed dogs (mentor beach) on the way to Quiberon. We loved St Gustan, Auray which had many restaurants and beautiful views. The gite was beautiful. The kids loved the pool and playing with Vicky and Sam's dogs. Anna and Bob
Hi Anna and Bob
Hope all is going well now that you are back in to work routines with all your students.
Your children are so polite , you should feel proud of them and they were great with our dogs and so gentle with them.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review as I am sure that this will help other visitors to the area.
Do come back and see us some day, you would be very welcome.

Great pool and wifi! Beautiful, comfortable house
We had a lovely week in La Faisane! The cottage is very charming, comfortable and airy and had plenty of space for our family of four. Our teenage sons slept really well in the downstairs bedroom, with their own shower room. We slept equally well upstairs in a very charming bed room, with adjoining bathroom. The open-plan living kitchen living space was perfect. We didn't miss anything in the kitchen and enjoyed some great meals in our own patio area. But it was equally nice to eat indoors. Good table! The location is beautiful and rural, but yet close to the bakers where we bought croissants and bread in the mornings. Also close to a larger place, Baud, which has all amenities. The pool, very conveniently located for us, was the right depth and size for us. Our sons of course loved the pool, but also greatly appreciated the wifi!
The owners were very nice and helpful. Thank you so much Vicky and Sam!!!
We had some lovely outings, but there are so much more to see. We have to come back and explore Bretagne further! These are some things that we enjoyed:
Medieval festival in Vannes, 5 km walk from Chapelle du Manéguen, Pont Saint Goustan, the stones in Carnac (beware that English guiding into the area is only on certain dates), canoeing on river Blavet (can recommend the 2-3 hours paddling, even though we had to carry the canoes past two locks), eating at Baud's Aux Bon Vieux Temps.
Hi Carina and Steve,
It was fantastic to see teenage boys so enthused about visiting the sites in the area. I know that the internet was very important to you all to search and look up places to go and see , so very pleased that you had such a busy and productive week . You were always off out at the crack of dawn, so eager to get going, and explore.
Take care and best wishes to the boys with their school work.

Short stay at Kerabellec
My husband and I stayed at Kerabellec twice during 2014 during June and October, and absolutely loved the complex and the location especially with our dogs , who loved the walks in the woods.
The then owners were retiring back to England, and mentioned that they were selling the complex. We loved the property and location so much , that we decided to move from England and buy Kerabellec and the gites.
It is the best move that we have ever made , absolutely stunning .
Coast/Beach: The closest beaches are around Carnac - about 35 minutes on easy roads by car. Worth travelling another five minutes for are the beaches on Western side of the Quiberon peninsular where there is a wealth of water sport, including wind-surfing, kite-surfing, surfing and sand-surfing! The waters on the eastern side of the peninsular are calmer for young families. A favourite beach with our clients is at Kerhilio just at the base of the peninsular, also Guidel, Lamor plage , Trinite Sur Mer . Just ask us for any additional ideas and places to go . Travel: Our nearest airport is at Rennes (just over an hour by car) Flights from the UK also come into Nantes Dinard Lorient and Brest. July and August flights from Stanstead to Lorient only 30 minutes from Kerabellec. The nearest ferry ports are at Roscoff and St Malo, each about two hours drive away. Caen is under three hours by car and Cherbourg three and half hours. The drive from the Tunnel terminal at Calais takes six hours but there are lots of service and toilet areas to rest.Your own transport is essential when staying here. Distances: Our nearest town is Baud, with a good selection of small shops, and some excellent bakers. There are three supermarkets and several good restaurants. La Chapelle Neuve is our closest village - a twenty minute walk away - and has a small shop. For serious shopping there is a hypermarket in Lorient. There are excellent markets locally - one almost every day in Vannes, or Auray, Carnac or Pontivy or Hennebont. There is also a small market in Baud on Saturdays. Rennes also has some great shops. Further Details: All Gites are None Smoking, however outside smoking is permitted & ashtrays can be supplied. We keep a basket in each cottage with recommendations for local restaurants and tourist guides to what's on in the area. We ask guests to add to the basket with the things that they have most enjoyed doing. There are several interesting towns in the area, notably Josselin with its historic castle, and Vannes with its medieval streets. Quimper with its cathedral . Rennes a university town and great architecture . For those who love second hand bargains , visit the TROC AND PUCE ( Boot sales ) all over brittany . We are region 56 Morbihan so check out on line or ask Vicky and Sam
