We stayed at Kerbellec for two weeks in August. We stayed in Le Periot which was perfect for our family of 5, the photos did not do it justice. Our Hosts Vicky and Sam really went out of their way to make our holiday special for us and our children, with lots of tips and advice, for the surrounding area.
We had lovely outdoor dining area with BBQ and a fantastic pool with a cover which meant the pool was always warm, although not needed as we had perfect weather for the whole two weeks.
There was a large garden for the children to play in and huge field opposite where my children played freely, built dens and played in the river with the friends they had made. There were plenty of toys including a climbing frame, table tennis and large collection of board games for the evening.
The location was excellent. We were 5 minutes drive from the town centre with restaurant’s and supermarkets, 2 km from the bakery and 5 mins from the forest. A favourite was the river Le Blavet, a 10 minute drive away were we spent a number of days, taking a picnic and either hiring bikes or Canoeing. There are so many beaches to choose from, you are spoilt for choice.
We would definitely recommend and would mostly certainty return
We are a family of 5, stayed in L'Hirondelle but having seen all the 4 gites, they are all great. We were looking for an escape from the business of London life, a week of family time and this was a perfect place. We took our dog, she loved it too.
From walking in the woods, cycling the coastal paths, eating out at lovely creperies, going to the markets, sitting by the wood burner and playing card games and board games, making boats to sail down the river, cycling to the bakery each morning (2km away), we couldn't have asked for a better week away. You know it's a good holiday when the kids don't even ask for a screen in 8 days!
Sam and Vicky were great hosts too. Knowing where to go and what to do, we felt we did not waste a day. It's a beautiful part of the world, with so much to do and see.
The advise of dressing gowns and slippers was a must for Easter time, as the gites were not heated but the fireplace was amazing!
We might well be back here again, thankyou Sam and Vicky for a wonderful week!
We were two families of four staying, we had a fantastic time, kids loved the swimming pool, it was lovely and quiet only saw about 2 cars on the lane in all our stay there!! Vicky and Sam are amazing, anything you needed a hand with or just to chat to they were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone. Hope to go back very soon.
Traditional farmhouse Gite, clean, well equipped, excellent family accommodation, with lovely outdoor dining/seating area. Good sized, well maintained swimming pool, huge garden area for children to play or just to enjoy. And well supplied with outdoor and indoor toys.
Baude (nearest town) is a 5 min drive and has 3 supermarkets a tourist office and several restaurants.
Nearest beaches are at Carnac (30-40 min drive) our favourite was the smaller Legenes Plage.
Other nearby towns we liked were Hennebont, lovely restaurants, good market and excellent tourist office, also lovely to walk around. Saint Nicolas Des Eaux, Canoeing, cycling, walking and our favourite restaurant of the holiday, Le Relais du Pere Nicolas.
Practicalities aside, what made our holiday wonderful was this beautiful little corner of Brittany, ideally located for exploring both locally in the fields forests and river and further afield. The lovely warm welcome from our Hosts Vicky and Sam who really went out of their way to make our holiday special and our children loved the dogs Huni and Paddy. If we visit this part of the world again, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
We have stayed in many gites across France but this complex at Kerebellac tops them all.
The gites are individual, very clean and spacious, extremely well equipped and so comfortable. All have an outside dining patio with a provided bar-b-que.The setting is just stunning with lovely gardens surrounded by glorious countryside. The pool is heated and of a good size with sun loungers provided for the reader too.
There is plenty of outside space to kick a ball around, play boule or walk the riverside paths. Although in a quiet rural setting( a car is a must) the local market town of Baud with all it's facilities is a 5 minute drive and a local patisserie is a 15 minute country lane stroll to buy the breakfast of croissant and yummy traditional bread and cake!
The owners are very welcoming, friendly and helpful with plenty of local knowledge to assist with places to visit and great restaurants to eat at. The beautiful south Brittany coast is about 40 minutes drive with many towns ,harbours and beaches to explore. The Bay of Morbihan with all it's islands is a must do. The area is awash with picturesque medieval towns all of which have a weekly market on specific days so lots to do and see each day.
Kerebellac is a beautiful complex and highly recommended. The photos do not disappoint...absolutely stunning, already booked our return stay.
We arrived at the property after a long drive all tired. There was a wonderful welcome for us upon arrival. The owners had provided milk, water and a bottle of wine, plus Easter eggs for the kids. We were provided with oil burners for the gite to keep us warm of a day/night. The gites also have log burning fires again we were provided with wood to burn, firefighters and matches. Although these weren't really needed due to the excellent weather. During the stay we were provided with loads of toys for the kids to play with, from ride on toy tractors and bikes to swings and footballs. There is also a large selection of board games for the evening for those kids who are a bit older. The gites are lovely and very well appointed all have an excellent fridge freezer, perfect for ice creams for the kids! The buildings are all beautiful and each one is unique in its own way and with their own charm.
The site is in a wonderful location and is really quiet all day, the main traffic is the local farmer in his tractor, saying that you are only 10 mins drive to "kingoland" the local mini adventure park with a number of rides. There is also a go ape type place 10 mins in the other direction. The cottage is also only a short drive from the beautiful beaches and loads of medeavil towns.
Of an evening there are plenty of walks to take alongside streams and rivers and it really is a beautiful rural part of france. I really would recommend this place to everyone to take a lovely relaxing holiday especially families, there is just so much room for the kids to run around and keep them busy all day. The owners are also very welcoming, friendly and attentive and will go out of their way to ensure you are having a great time.
The pool on the property is also great for the kids and ours spent quite a bit of time in it even though it was early in the year.
We will be back next year.
The closest beaches are around Carnac - about 35 minutes on easy roads by car. Worth travelling another five minutes for are the beaches on Western side of the Quiberon peninsular where there is a wealth of water sport, including wind-surfing, kite-surfing, surfing and sand-surfing! The waters on the eastern side of the peninsular are calmer for young families. A favourite beach with our clients is at Kerhilio just at the base of the peninsular.
Our nearest airport is at Rennes (just over an hour by car) with several flights from the UK daily. Flights from the UK also come into Nantes and Brest. The nearest ferry ports are at Roscoff and St Malo, each about two hours drive away. Caen is under three hours by car and Cherbourg three and half hours. The drive from the Tunnel terminal at Calais takes six hours. Your own transport is essential when staying here.
Our nearest town is Baud, with a good selection of small shops, and some excellent bakers. There are three supermarkets and several good restaurants. La Chapelle Neuve is our closest village - a twenty minute walk away - and has a small shop. For serious shopping there is a hypermarket in Lorient. There are excellent markets locally - one almost every day in Vannes, or Auray, Carnac or Pontivy or Hennebont. There is also a small market in Baud on Saturdays.
All Gites are None Smoking, however outside smoking is permitted & ashtrays can be supplied. We keep a basket in each cottage with recommendations for local restaurants and tourist guides to what's on in the area. We ask guests to add to the basket with the things that they have most enjoyed doing. There are several interesting towns in the area, notably Josselin with its historic castle, and Vannes with its medieval streets.
