Cottage near Sarlat, Aquitaine - Dordogne, France - Stunning Views over Unspoilt Countryside

The ground floor consists of a large comfortable farmhouse style kitchen / living room with cobbled floor, open fireplace. A large 'summer room', with views out over unspoiled countryside, TV (with UK satellite), DVD, Free WiFi,and a shower room and WC. The first floor consists of 3 good size bedrooms, 1 bedroom with double bed, 1 twin bedroom and 1 twin room with bunk beds and a further bathroom / shower room and W.C. (additional sleeping accommodation is available downstairs on double bed settee and if needed a baby cot can be provided at no extra charge). There is an extensive garden with a large private courtyard with original stone bread oven. The 10m x 5m swimming pool has a large terraced area, and a 'summer kitchen' with fridge. The house is situated at the end of the village with no through access for vehicles other than those visiting the house and as such is very child safe, there is however good parking for guests.

Notes on accommodation: La Croix is the last house before the meadow/woodland, there is no through traffic so it is safe for children. Outside: La Croix is situated in 5 hectares of woodland with it's own well tended garden, there are 2 sets of garden furniture 1 in the courtyard under the bread oven roof, ideal for dining outside in the evening and another set on the kitchen patio at the front of the house, barbecue and barbecue equipment are provided. The 10x5m private pool has a summer kitchen with fridge, sunbeds and sun shades and spectacular views over the valley towards the west. Utility Room: Large storage, ironing board etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property will be cleaned for your arrival. Cleaning for two week bookings free, £60 sup. for 1 week bookings. Linen and towels included (not beach towels) additional changes charged at 6/5 € arranged with our agent on request.

An extraordinarily beautiful house!

When we arrived at La Croix, it was breath-takingly beautiful! The house and the many seating areas were quirky and fascinating. The views over the valley were stunning, particularly at sunset. The pool was well-maintained, as was the garden and the beautiful flowers.

The communication and help that we had from Stephen, the owner, was second to none. We had a visit from the lady who looks after the property on the last day and she brought us fresh artichokes and a bottle of wine.

I was there with my family, including 2 small children and would recommend this for a chill-out holiday. Our intention was to relax by the pool - but the weather had other ideas ): However, we did get out and about to visit dome of the gorgeous sites around. The area is so close to some great sites, river (canoeing), caves, chateaux - too much to chose from!

Thank you for a wonderful week in a most charming house! Want to go back now!!!

Bergerac Airport 70km. Bordeaux Airport 160km. Train link from Paris at Brive la Gaillard 35km (Paris 4 hrs). Driving distance from channel ports 8/10 hours. Car hire or own car is essential.


The pre-historic cave paintings at Lascaux II 5km. The beautiful mediaeval town of Sarlat 20km. Perigueux 45km. Les Eyzies 14km. Swimming lake (Tamnies) 15km. Canoeing 5km. Horse riding 2km (St Léon). There are also a wide variety of restaurants and cafes within a 10km radius to suit all tastes. The local tourist Information Office in Montignac can help you plan a programme of sites of interest and a selection of information leaflets will be left in the house for your arrival.
