An outstanding brand new, fully furnished ground floor apartment available for rental in the exclusive Tas Sellum development in Mellieha in the north of Malta. The apartment is in a perfect location with a large terrace overlooking the pool and the open sea views behind. Its very close to the sea and a 10 minute walk to the largest sandy beach on Malta: Ghadira Bay. The development is an exclusive haven of tranquility ideal for a relaxing holiday. Facilities available nearby, include a full range of water sports: water skiing, wake boarding, sailing, wind surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving. The sandy beach is ideal for children with a long gradual decline. Other facilities nearby, include Popeye's Village (used in the filming of the movie) and horse riding. There are many restaurants, bars and shops in the nearby villages of Mellieha and Bugibba. About Joanna Bishop

We are a British family living in Hampshire with 2 teenage children. My husband works for a computer software company and I work with horses. My husband was born in Malta, has a Maltese mother and spent every summer as a child holidaying in Malta with relatives.

As a family we spent most summers in Malta and then decided to invest in a holiday apartment in the island we could use and rent out the rest of the time.

Having sought advice from family, we decided to buy an apartment at Tas Sellum before they were completed, knowing the builder Tumas produces apartments to the highest standard of quality on the islands.

The north of Malta had always been my favourite part of the island to visit - the best beaches and so much more peaceful.

Knowing Malta very well, we decided to buy an apartment in the north of the island in Mellieha. The sandy beach is by far the best on the island and is very child friendly and quieter than other parts of Malta.

3. the apartment was VERY clean with plenty of space for our family of 5. The complex was ideal with the pool being situated so close to the apartment and the owners were very accomodating with all of our questions and any help we needed with getting around in Malta. I HIGHLY recommend a stay with you.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is fully air-conditioned and is ideal for families and couples. Just 10 minutes walk from Malta's longest beach which is ideal for children, with all the water sports you would expect. Outside: This apartment is part of the exclusive, landscaped Tas Sellum development and is fully maintained with 24 hour on site security. The shared pool is about 3 metres from the apartment and is ideal for cooling off on a hot day. The apartment has a large shaded balcony at the front including a table and 6 chairs. There are 6 sunloungers for you to lie back and relax, take in the rays or watch the sunset over the bay and the Red Tower (17th Century tower built by the Knights of Malta). In the rear the apartment has a secluded private yard with patio table and chairs, convenient for sunbathing, drying clothes etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bath towels and linen provided (not beach/pool towels).

Excellent apartment

Lovely, clean and spacious apartment. Excellent facilities. Everything you need for 6 people. Sheared pool was plenty big enough and well maintained.. We found the hills quite hard going in the fantastic 37 degrees heat of the Malta summer, so hired a car. We also used Gino's taxi transfer, he was very efficient and even helped us into the apartment with our bags. Would definitely recommend this apartment and will be returning.

Lovely apartment

We really enjoyed our stay in this large bright apartment. It is well equipped and the welcome pack was very useful. The beds were very comfortable and there was lots of clothes hanging space. The outside space was good with a lovely view towards the sea and right next to the pool. Unfortunately the pool was really cold! The apartment is situated in a quiet residential area and it is up a hill but it’s only a short walk to the bus stop where you can catch a bus up into the town or walk. It’s a pleasant walk to the lovely beach and there are shops and restaurants there. Mellieha is a nice resort and judging by the amount of building going on it is an up and coming place. We hired a car from Billy’s in the town but there are plenty of buses that go all round the island. The apartment is a very relaxing place to come back to after a day out and you can relax with a drink and enjoy the views from the patio. There was no safe when we arrived but after we emailed Joanna it was sorted within a day by Nick who was very helpful. All in all we had a great holiday in a spacious modern apartment and the only disappointment was the pool being too cold for me to use but my husband braved it.

Best holiday ever

We had a great week in Malta. We were 4 people, my wife and son and his wife. We had plenty of space in the apartment as it was large, modern and very well equipped. When we went to the beach we had plenty of utensils to make a picnic. There was a large ice-box to freeze water bottles. It was very hot and the air-conditioning worked well, as did the immersion heater for hot water.

The apartments were up a steep hill but that meant we had a superb view of Mellieha Bay and could see Gozo on the horizon. We enjoyed this whenever we sat on the veranda, especially at night. And there was no noise from the neighbours.

We hired a car from Billy’s. They picked us up from the apartment and took us to the office. I told Manuel we were going to visit Valletta but he said “Go to the Sunday market at Marxallok”, which we did and had a great day out. We also went to the old capital, Mdina, so atmospheric, and did a boat tour of the Grand Harbour at Valletta. If you visit Gozo be sure to visit the Cittadella, an unmissable experience.

We went out nearly every night and used Billy’s taxi service and found them friendly and reliable. But one day we were late getting back from Gozo so bought a tasty fish and chip take-away from the Ocean Bar, which is about a 10-minute walk from the apartments. On the same street we had two really good meals at IX-Xatba and Zozis’s. Both had a friendly family atmosphere and served great food. But the best meal we had was the Maltese set menu at Ta-Randi, near Billy’s car hire office.

On the last day we hung around the pool, which was very conveniently located right next to the apartment and there were plenty of sun beds. We got a take-away lunch from Champs bakery, which was recommended by Joanna, the apartment owner. It was delicious so we bought extra for the plane home.

My wife and I agreed this was the best holiday we’ve ever had, partly because Malta and Gozo were so enjoyable, but also because we felt completely comfortable in these apartments.

Clean, comfortable and cool

We have never been to Malta and the first impressions were not great, less than impressive car hire staff and an even less than impressive car! However a short drive later we arrived in Mellieha and found the apartment. The local agent, Nick, called us as we arrived to tell us the apartment was ready so that was useful as we were early. Nick showed us round, explained how everything worked, especially the air conditioning and the electronic gates! he then left us to it telling us to call if we needed anything. The apartment is in a block of 11 and is modern and very clean. there is a pool outside and the area is again very clean and well maintained. As explained in the very comprehensive handover notes everyting is quite close, the beach, the longest on the island apparently, is about a 10 minute walk away, yes there is a hill but we didnt mind that, it wasnt the steepest we encountered! The village has a large range of restaurants that cater for every taste and there are shops and small foodstores either 5 minutes walk or a similar drive to the larger market. Malta's roads are not the best but its no problem as the longest drive is about 40 minutes and that would get you anywhere on the island! we took the owners advice and vsited Gozo, Comino, Medina, Valletta, Marsaxlokk plus a few other places. The buses are frequent and cheap and i would recommend using them for trips to St Pauls Bay where we took a boat to Gozo, we used Sea Adventures and had a great time, they offered a tour of Gozo which we found to be interesting and value for money. We had no problems at all with the apartment or our stay and i would be happy to recommend this apartment to anyone, great for kids or adults as there is a 7pm cut off for the pool which should keep noise down. The view from the terrace looks out over the bay and out to the sea. We didnt make full use of the kitchen as we ate out but the facilities are good and, again, modern. 3 bathrooms ensured we could get ready quickly and 3 bedrooms allowed us to have our own space. We had a great time so thanks very much!!

Fantastic apartment in lovely location

Blown away with this luxurious, spacious apartment. Extremely well looked after, modern clean and very well equipped. Stunning views over the bay, great pool just steps from the patio doors, lovely seating shaded area. The apartment has everything you need and more. The air conditioning was extremely welcoming. Our whole experience with Joanna was completely hassle free from beginning to end. Extremely well organised, including the lovely, helpful Gino who was waiting at the airport in Malta and on time for our pick up for departure. In our experience, nothing was too much trouble. Whether it's relaxing, water sports, or beach holiday, this has it all. Bus stop isn't far at all and buses are regular. The only downside (and this was a very small downside) was the fact that the apartment is at the top of a hill, so if you have problems walking long distance, you will need to hire a car. The advantage of this was of course the stunning views and the lovely breeze. Malta is a special place and I would very happily stay here again. Thank you Joanna and family.

Coast/Beach:

The apartment has sea views, and and it is only a short walk to the sea. The largest beach in Malta at Ghadira Bay (also known as Mellieha Bay), is a 10 minute walk. Many other beaches are also nearby such as Golden Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha and Gnejna Bay, Paradise Bay, Selmun, Mistra (all about 10-15 minutes drive).

Travel:

The apartment is approximately 40 minutes drive from the island's airport at Luqa.

Distances:

The nearest bars and restaurants are approximately 5-10 minutes walk. The nearest village is Mellieha where there are many bars and restaurants. This is a 5 minute drive, 20 minute walk up a steep hill or a short bus trip. Valletta, the capital is approx 30-40 minute drive. Popeye's village is a 5 minute drive, Gozo Ferry a 10 minute drive, the ancient city of Mdina is about 20 minute drive. There is a major bus terminus within a 10 minute walk giving access to all major parts of the islands.

Further Details:

Mellieha contains many shops, bars, restaurants and banks (with ATMs). Because of the steep hill leading to the apartment, a car is recommended.
