Cozy, characterful yet well-appointed cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Home away from home! We enjoyed two very comfortable nights here in the beautiful, French countryside. Both mornings we were gently roused out of bed by birdsong and the distant crowing of cockrels. Janet and Peter made sure we had everything we needed, thank you for the delightful stay!

Fabulous for a couple

  • 5 of 5

Location - fabulous part of France, only an hour from the Channel Tunnel and 40 minutes from the beach. Beautifully rural and peaceful. The area is steeped in history, especially sites to do with WW1. A little bit of research before you go will certainly mean that historically speaking you will get lots and lots from a visit here

Venue - We stayed in Heather's house which is a gite that is just made for a couple. If you like cooking there is a range cooker in the kitchen and a BBQ on the back patio. If you don't like washing up there is a dishwasher in there too. The gite was modern, clean and tidy, everything worked as it should. If you need to do some washing there are shared facilities for that as well. There are two other gites on site which are more family oriented, a badminton court and table tennis table to keep the kids occupied.

Hosts - Janet and Peter could not have been more helpful, we had transport issues whilst we were there (puncture in a motorcycle tyre) and they could not do enough to help. They have a really good knowledge of local places to eat or visit.

We would recommend this small gite complex to families and couples alike

the property was all that was promised on booking log burner made for cosy evenings in this rural French setting. A great base to explore the real France and the welcome pack of essentials on arrival was a lovely gesture.

A memorable holiday 1915 - 2015

  • 5 of 5

Heather's House was perfect for our holiday which alternated days on the French coast and the WW1 battlefields. It was extremely comfortable and had everything that we needed. Janet and Pete were welcoming, friendly and gave us helpful advice whenever we needed it. The location is peaceful and quiet in a small village with a good supermarket and shops in the nearby town. Things were very different 100 years ago as I was remembering my grandfather, who fought at the Battle of Loos in 1915. We had some wonderful walks along the coast which is around half an hour away. Thank you Janet and Pete for recommending St Valery, where we enjoyed the steam train. Highly recommended for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.
