Everything great - see you again - says a returning guest.
We would just like to say thank you very much for our stay at your cottage last month. We had an amazing time in Durness and we thought that your cottage was a real hidden gem. It had everything we needed and more. The facilities were more than expected and the cottage was clean and well presented. It was so peaceful and secluded there. The view up the mountain was amazing, watched the local Common Buzzards from the rear garden everyday. We arrived very late at the cottage at night, but this didn't cause any problem for ourselves. We would certainly recommend it to anyone and we hope to be able to stay in the future again.
Anne and Graham.
We found the description misleading, as really this is a converted property that at best could be described as a chalet. The rooms are fairly small, eg no room for bedside tables in one bedroom, so for 4 it would be very squashed accommodation. Kitchen is, however, well equipped. But what is disappointing is its location in a gloomy track beside overhanging trees at the front, and with no view of the sea at all or even the village. The view at the back is ok, but the communal garden has no proper seating, though there is a picnic table, and the view though pleasant is nothing special. The walk to the sea is 15 minutes at least(and we are fast walkers) If the weather had not been so wonderful, we would have been a bit unhappy with it, but on the other hand this a cheap property and I suppose is value for money. Durness itself is fantastic.
If you intend to watch TV be aware that the signal, especially in the evening, is intermittent.
Beautiful little terraced cottage, only a 5 minute walk away from the beach, and shop. An excellent tourist information nearby too.
The cottage itself was lovely and cosy, comfy beds and all the amenities needed were supplied.
Would definitely stay there again
The most glorious sandy beaches are approx 500 metres away.
The nearest airport is Inverness which is 110 miles away and 3 hours travelling time.
The village is 0.25 mile, Smoo Cave 0.5 mile, Cape Wrath 15 miles.
There are two grocery shops, two pubs and two other restaurants in the vicinity.
These cottages are perfect for all outdoor activities, i.e. walking, fishing, cycling, geology, botany, ornithology, surfing, munro climbing, beaches and pure relaxation !
Please note there are discounts for 2 weeks or more and student letting.
