We thought the apartment itself was lovely, bright, clean and well equipped. But we feel the description of the property is a little misleading.
It is advertised as a non smoking property, which is something I always look for. But we found that the apartment smelled strongly of stale tobacco smoke which infiltrates from the bars downstairs. This being very bad overnight and morning.
Also no mention of the property being located over a very busy bar etc.
The noise form the bars and motorbikes etc going on until 2 am and the 430 am start of deliveries to the market etc caused further prevention of rest and sleep for the occupant of the lounge bed.
The rear bedroom is fairly quiet except for late night residents above who came in shouting and carrying on at 3 am on a couple of occasions, then moving what sounded like furniture etc from 6 am to 8 am every weekday morning,presumably before going to work.
All this prevented us from getting the sleep and rest we needed to enjoy our holiday.
If the description had made a point of late night / early morning possible noise etc we would not have chosen this property.
Wonderful apartment in a perfect location
The property and its location are both wonderful. The contact with Linda was always useful and helpful. The only issue and the reason for 4 rather 5 stars was the nightmare of parking in the area.
Wonderful Place to Stay
It is the 4th time we have stayed at this apartment and it is so welcoming after a long flight from Australia. It is very clean and well maintained. The owners have always provided good customer service.
It is an ideal location to enjoy Versailles and Paris. My husband and I have taken trips to Roland Garros, Orleans, Rouen and a few days at St Malo. Our local cafe, Franco Belge, which is below the apartment, serves meals mainly frequented by the locals. It is a nice spot to have a meal or just a coffee.
We hope to return again.
We stayed in this wonderful apartment over Christmas week and had a marvelous time. The pictures are very accurate, but don't do justice to the ambiance - warm, inviting and a great place to come back to after sightseeing. The location can't be beat. The permanent market stalls around the square are open every day and a large farmer's market fills the square several times a week with a smaller flea market on the other days so there is always something new to explore. There is a fantastic bakery just downstairs and several cafes and restaurants right there also. We are an older couple, so the three flights of stairs was sometimes a challenge, but we always made it. Somehow, we usually stopped for a wine or coffee just below before going up and that helped! The owners were more than helpful in every way. Will definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone.
Our fifth year of holidaying in this wonderful apartment. We really cannot fault it. Immaculately presented and offering all the comforts you could wish for. The location is first class being located above Place du Marche with a fabulous range of fresh produce several times a week and numerous really good restaurants. Proximity to the Chateau of Versailles is excellent - just a ten minute stroll, as is the station with regular trains direct to the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame etc. We love our sightseeing in Paris but always look forward to returning to the comfort of this lovely apartment. We have already confirmed our 2016 visit!

Travel: Nearest airport is Orly(15ml/24km) but restricted flights (Thomsonfly has cheap flights from Coventry) otherwise Charles de Gaulle (26ml/43km) (British Airways, EasyJet flights from London) then metro line to St Michel for RER train line C5 direct to Rive Gauche Station, Versailles (10 minutes walk from apartment) Travel via Eurostar use same metro line to St Michel. By car Dieppe (Transmanche Ferries) via Rouen to Versailles (117ml/189km), off A13 east of Paris, or from Calais (191ml/307km). Distances: Ideal touring base for: Giverny - Monet’s House and Garden (40ml/65km); Auvers sur Oise – Impressionist museum in 18th century Chateau/Van Gogh’s grave (28ml/45km); Chateau de Monte Cristo – residence of Alexandra Dumas (7ml/11km); Vaux le Vicomte – inspiration for Versailles (42ml/68km);Fontainebleau (44ml/72km); Rambouillet – chateau and forest, great for walking, cycling, picnics and swimming (21ml/34km); Chartres – largest cathedral in France and inspiring ‘son et lumiere’ (46ml/75km). Further Details: Interesting variety of boutiques and shops close by. Over 20 restaurants in market square alone - we recommend Le Boeuf a la Monde for excellent French cuisine, La Cameleon for fresh pasta dishes, Riva Destra for great pizzas in nice surroundings. Many other places to be discovered in locality, for antique lovers Le Patio des Antiquaires in the Passage de la Geole, just behind the apartment is ideally situated. Or wander up to the chateau for a lazy lunch at La Flotille in the park by the canal, their tarte tatine is superb. Please let us know your favourite places when you get back? Self catering couldn’t be easier - open air market is on Tues, Friday and Sunday mornings, the covered market is open 7 days a wk. The nearest supermarket is Franprix (70m) open 6days a wk including Sunday mornings or Monoprix department store and supermarket (120m) 6 days a wk, closed Sundays. The Chateau de Versailles, a UNESCO world heritage monument and one of the most fascinating and historic sites in France, is 10 mins walk away. Indoors and out, there is so much to see. Don’t miss the fountains playing to music during the daytime (Sat/Sun/public hols – 4/4 to 25/10) and at night fire, water, baroque music and statuary (Sat evenings 20/6 to 22/8) or for a very special evening - choose from ballet, opera songs or pyrotechnic display in the romantic setting of Neptune’s fountain. Le Mois Moliere or the Jazz Festival in June to the week-end of Heritage Days in September with free entry to local sites of cultural interest - will you ever have time to pop into the centre of Paris only 20km away?
