'Cottage' style apartment, in lovely village in the Eden Valley. Penrith is 20 mins drive, and Ullswater within 30 mins. The village shop is 2 mins walk, and there are two good Pubs in the village, both of which serve food. The Settle to Carlisle railway is one mile away, in the village of Lazonby, where there is also a good supermarket. Excellent walks can be started from the property without the need to use the car. There are many good eating places within easy reach.

About The Owner

We are a retired professional couple, who have owned the property for 20 years. It is used as a second home for holidays, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 1980

Why The Owner chose Penrith, East Lakes & Eden Valley

Kirkoswald is a picturesque village in the Eden Valley, yet within easy reach of the North Lakes and Penrith. Even on Bank hilidays the area is uncrowded and tranquil, perfect for a relaxing break.

What makes this apartment unique

There is a very well stocked shop in the village, and plenty of local pubs serving good food. A roaring coal fire makes it very cosy in the winter.

Comfortable appartment

Lovely quiet location, good for walks in and around the village, and for travelling further afield. Two excellent pubs in the village both serving great food. The apartment had every thing we needed, apart from there was no toilet roll? This was not a problem for us as we arrived in the afternoon and the shop was still open. The apartment does not have any internet connection, and the village has very little to none phone signal and internet. The apartment was well furnished with comfy beds and a lovely bathroom with a good shower over the bath. We would like to recommend to the owner John that he supply a safety mat to go in the bath, as it was a bit slippy on getting out. We had a lovely time in this apartment and would highly recommend this location and property. Thanks John for a lovely stay.

Very comfortable, well-provided, wonderfully located property.

We had a lovely stay. The property had all we could've asked for. The location is great too, with conveniently located village shop and pubs doing good food. Also great for venturing out further (we ranged from Hadrian's Wall to Morecombe Bay). And the owner, John, gave us all necessary information and offer of further help if required. We would definitely stay here again.

It feels like home.

Such a wonderful place to escape the city crowds for few days. The apartment is so cosy and perfectly prepared for the visitors. I can't imagine we could find a better place to stay in during our little trip.

Very clean, nicely set out comfortable and well equipped Cottage.

I knew the moment I stepped through the door that I was going to feel comfortable in this lovely little cottage, very well situated in Kirkoswald village with two good pubs almost on your doorstep, recommending The Crown Inn, especially for Steak night on Thursdays, great value!! we booked for it as soon as we got there and was glad we did as it gets very busy. The people in the village were very friendly. Totally enjoyed our 6 days at Kirkoswald, we have seen some great places and will definitely be returning.

Easy to get to, great communication from John and a well kept apartment

The apartment was clean and tidy. John has considered all the essentials and there was even a complimentary basket of products should you have forgotten any of your bathroom essentials. I tend to overthink what I might need to take on a self catering holiday but I was stunned to see that everything I could possibly want was provided for.

Fantastic location, only 20 minutes from Penrith and 30 minutes from Ullswater Lake, and the village had a lovely welcoming feel.

I can highly recommend staying here.

Phone reception is not brilliant, but I think that is usually a given for the Lake District - it gives you all the more opportunity to enjoy your surroundings.

Quiet village location with local shop and two pubs. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Ample room and storage for clothes. Private parking space.
