Cottage in Heacham, Norfolk, England - 10 Minutes Walk from the Beaches

Cockcrow Barn is in the heart of Heacham within walking distance of both North and South beaches. It has private parking for up to 5 cars and is set off the road. The rear garden stretches back overlooking fields and further fields in the distance. It is a very private house and garden. Whilst having large amount of gorgeous character the property has been extended to include a 30ft kitchen area which seats 10, leading out to surrounding patio and rear garden. The hoiuse is bright and warm with a wonderful atmosphere throughout.

Notes on accommodation: Cockrow Barn was our family home for 5 years before work forced us to move. We aimed to give it charming and homely feel that celebrated the feel of a traditional Norfolk Barn: Space, light and natural materials such as oak and stone floors. The upstairs has a 19th century oak vaulted ceiling. Downstairs the floors are traditional Norfolk Pamments and fossil stone from India. Comments from our visitors so far have included: 'Cockcrow Barn really is a very special place' 'We were suprised how big it is. It really is so very spacious, and so very light' 'We loved it here so much we didn't venture out for two days. We just sat in the garden and relaxed' 'Wonderful place. We'll definitely be back' 'We loved the huge kitchen, bathed in light in the mornings. All 10 of us had breakfast together and then spilled onto the patio to read the morning newspapers' 'Beautiful place, just as described. Thank you for letting us stay here' WIFI active Outside: The front has a small patio area which catches the sun in the evening. The rear patio has 2 areas including a table and 2 chairs and a sofa. There are 2 sets of steps up onto the lawn. The garden stretches back facing onto a field with mostly field views. Utility Room: Bosch washing machine. Sink with drainer. Vacuum cleaner. Combi boiler. High hair, buggy, clothes airers. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The Barn is thoroughly cleaned prior to every changeover of guests, by a professional cleaning company. Bedding and towels can be purchased per bed at an extra cost of £8 single, £15 double/king £15, with towel bales also at £8 per person. Other: The kitchen extends to 31 feet and alongside the handmade oak kitchen is a centre island with oak top. A large kitchen oak table which seats 10. Wicker sofa and a CD/radio unit. 2 sets of patio doors open to the garden.

Stupendous staycation

Cockcrow Barn lived up to our expectations; our extended family (4 generations ranging from 4 weeks to 90 years) enjoyed our stay in this spacious and comfortable barn conversion with its lovely big kitchen and expansive garden. The property was well equipped with plenty of cooking equipment, children's toys and videos and extra bedding. The downstairs bedroom was ideal for our elderly father with impaired mobility. The Heacham location was great for day outings to stately homes and North Norfolk beaches and nearby Kings Lynn. With a large family group, we used the Sainsburys superstore in Kings Lynn and smaller one in Hunstanton. We greatly appreciated the owners' prompt response when the washing machine broke down. Together with the fabulous weather it all added up to an extremely relaxed and memorable staycation summer holiday.

The coast is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.

North Norfolk is a Haven for walkers, cyclists and, most famously, for bird spotters.

The beaches stretch for miles offering stunning views out to sea or over the marshes. The North Norfolk beaches have been used as a location for many films and tv shows.

North Norfolk is seen as very 'upmarket' meaning there are wonderful places to eat and buy art, clothes etc.

The beautiful cathedral cities of Norwich, Cambridge and Norwich make a wonderful day trip out.

Above all, Cockcrow Barn, and Norfolk are a place to relax.


Cockrow Barn is 10 minutes walk from two beaches. Within 20 miles drive are some of the most glorious and unspoilt beaches in the world. (Do a web search for images of any of the beaches mentioned below and you'll see what we mean). Old Hunstanton, Holme Next To Sea, Thornham, Brancaster, Burnham Overy Staithe (Our personal favourite) and Holkham.


Nearest airport is Norwich which is 40 miles away or Stansted which is 60 miles.


The village shops are a 5 min walk, the Heacham beaches are a 10 min walk. Hunstanton, the nearest town, is a 5 minute drive. King's Lynn the nearest large shopping town is 12 miles.

Burnham Market is 15 miles.

Norwich is 40 miles. Cambridge is 50 miles

Further Details:

Heacham has a good selection of local businesses. Including, a Tesco express, a co-op, a Boots pharmacy, 2 butchers, a bakery, an ironmongers/gift shop, a newsagent, electrical goods shop, post office, fish shop, restaurants, public houses, 2 Chinese take aways, beach facilities/shops. 2 fish and chip shops. Hunstanton is 3 miles down the road with 2 banks and many many more shops, pubs, theatre, fairground, beaches, sea life centre, pleasure pool, Tesco and Sainsburys.
