Peacefully situated, these newly converted barns are positioned close to the owners grade 2 listed farmhouse and are surrounded by farmland which visitors are welcome to walk and explore. The land offers views over rolling hills and wooded valleys and from the highest points both Exmoor and Dartmoor can be seen in the distance. A carpet of bluebells fills the woods in late Spring. Some visitors may be lucky enough to see a wild deer or a buzzard soaring overhead. The property is close to Barnstaple with it's pannier market, shops, restaurants, cinema and leisure facilities. Exmoor, a haven for wildlife, horse-riders, fishermen and walkers alike is also within easy reach. The spectacular coastline and famous surfing beaches are about a half an hour away. North Devon boasts beautiful landscapes from rolling hills to wild and dramatic moorland; from stunning sandy beaches to sheer rugged cliffs. Peace and tranquillity, rolling hills, ancient woodland, a perfect rural retreat.
A warm welcome will await you at Stone farm, our family home. Our family consists of: Me, Jackie, I am an infant school cover teacher. I love to cook and especially enjoy baking, probably inherited from my dad, a baker himself. Mark, my husband, works in the oil and gas industry. He is a whizz at fixing things.
Sam, our son is very mechanical and understands most things technical. (I'm sure Mark and Sam speak a different language to me!) Daisy is a Golden Retriever and is very friendly but rather bouncy! She loves anything from chasing her tail to stealing plant pots! Minnie, our cat, arrived about four years ago and decided to stay. She's good at getting locked in!
Jackie Wildig purchased this barn in 2002
We moved to Stone Farm thirteen years ago. We all fell in love with it instantly. The position was just what we wanted, peaceful, private, no near neighbours and when we were told there were Bluebells in our own woods, in Spring, we were hooked! We have spent the last ten years renovating the house and it's many barns, in fact Mark has become a bit of a 'barn spotter', pointing out 'nice barns' wherever we go! We are very fussy and have endeavoured to make sure that all our own high standards have been met in Meadow and Orchard Barn. The builders often got frustrated with our 'nit picking', but when the barns were completed in April 2010, even they had to admit that it had all been worth it and that the finished result was 'a proper job'!
Stone Farm is in an excellent position for touring North Devon, close to beaches, Barnstaple and the Moors.
It is set in over 80 acres of it's own land, meaning it is peaceful and quiet and there is lots for guests to explore including a nature trail through private woodland.
The barns are extremely spacious, contemporary and equipped only with new, good quality, fixtures and fittings.
We are very proud of what we have achieved and are delighted that it has been rated as A star or the 'best' by many of our guests.
Stone Farm, Stone Farm so good we've named it twice! Two Barns twice as nice as anything else we've stayed in! Twice the space, twice the grounds. It has been a real pleasure to share your home a week and we all enjoyed it immensely.- Rees family 2011
Arriving early evening on Christmas Eve Orchard Barn could not have been more welcoming. Christmas tree twinkling, presents for each of us and home-made chocolate treats on the side! We came for rest, relaxation, peace and quiet and we got it all..-highly recommended.- Kelly, Jeremy, Rhiannon and Dalian- 2011
...By far the best accomodation we have ever stayed in. Your attention to detail shows in every part of the barn...spacious yet cosy at the same time. The peace and tranquility here is unbelievable....Such a warm and welcoming way to spend a holiday which started the minute Jackie greeted us and was confirmed when Sam was so helpful with the audio-visual equipment. Eric and Kathleen- Sept 2011- Meadow Barn

Well, where shall we start, Meadow Barn is probably one of the best properties that we have stayed in. Really relaxing peaceful setting, and excellantly located for visiting North Devon. The barn had absolutely everything we needed and more. Everywhere was spotless and clean. The snug was a hit with our 12 year old daughter, who loved to close the curtains and put on her favourite TV. The nature walk on the property is a must and make sure you polish up on your ping pong, incase you have a 15 year old who likes to challenge you to a game!!
Jackie & Mark are very helpful and there for your every need. (Great tips on local climbing, and the baked suprise on arrival was delicious!)
All in all, we all loved Meadow Barn, and really hope to return again, very soon.
Meadow Barn is a beautiful barn conversion that has been very tastefully converted. The accommodation is of a very high standard. Everything has been thought of to make this a very enjoyable accommodation. The excellent facilities were invaluable when the weather was poor. It is also within easy reach of Barnstaple and great beaches and coastline. Jackie and Mark are great hosts, welcoming and looked after us well. It was great to have the little extras and the lovely home made cake. Highly recommend this as a place to stay.
I can't recommend the Meadow barn highly enough. From the layout to the high quality of finish and the equipment provided.
I have to also mention how welcome you are made to feel from the owners.
Well where can we start the property is the best we have ever stayed in the owners were very welcoming and helpful. The home is very modern clean and spacious, everything you require is at your disposal luxury bedding etc. Underfloor heating downstairs and central heating upstairs absolutely beautiful sized bath perfect for relaxing. The kids loved tbe playroo too! Close to local amenities. Will be returning. Thank you for a fantastic holiday.
Jackie and Mark can be justifiably proud of what they have achieved with Orchard Cottage and are thoroughly deserving of 5 stars. They have obviously given a great deal of thought to its design and furnishing. It is scrupulously clean and well presented and contains everything anyone would need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Their commitment to being the best is heartwarming. We agree with all the previous comments and are looking forward to returning to Stone Farm. You can't have enough of a good thing! Thoroughly recommended.
Places we enjoyed:- Watersmeet, Lynton Cliff Railway, Exmoor Zoo, Ilfracombe, Arlington Court and the steam railway a few mies up the road.
This house is an absolute home from home. Mark and Jackie have finished the barn to an extremely high standard. We were welcomed by the owners who took time out to show us around and make sure we knew how everything worked. Jackie had baked us a lovely cake and left us milk for a much welcomed cup of tea. The kitchen is very well equipped and covers a considerable area to allow more than one chef!! The lounge area is very comfortable and the snug area was a bonus. All bedrooms are very comfortable and beautifully furnished. There are lots of extra touches such as the beach towels, a table tennis barn and access to numerous films and computer games for those 'rainy days' that are inevitable in the UK. The farm is set in beautiful surroundings and the owners have carefully documented a nature trail which we unfortunately didn't manage to undertake this time. The farm is secluded but within easy reach of Barnstaple where the major supermarkets can easily be found. Access across the whole of north Devon is easy from here. We will definitely be back again
