United Golf Resorts-La Tercia is a unique resort with over 8 pools and playgrounds, a kids paradise.The resort is only 15 minutes drive to the beautiful beaches of the Mar Menor and Murcia city. The lower prices reflect the closure of the golf course and driving range. This is a family resort with renters returning year after year to experience the convenient location to local attractions, theme parks and water parks and beautiful beaches and enjoy the well maintained facilities on site.

Driving directions:

San Javier – Murcia Airport

From the airport, exit and go straight over the 1st roundabout.

At the next roundabout take the second exit on the right onto the AP7 in direction ALICANTE. Stay on the motorway until you see the exit (shortly afterwards) for MURCIA/BALSICAS and take this exit, follow the road down and to the right and go straight over the small roundabout in direction MURCIA. Continue along this dual carriageway (C3319) until you see the exit for BALSICAS/ROLDAN (between 5 – 10 mins drive) and take it.

Go straight over the two roundabouts in the direction of Murcia. Once the grove of trees appear on your right, take the first road between the trees. This is the road to LaTercia. Stay on this road until you exit the grove, go straight over the first two roundabouts then turn left at the third one, into United Golf Resorts.

From UGR entrance to apartment:Stay on the main entrance road. Follow it up and around to the right, then straight on again. Beware large speed bump in the road. After approximately 1 minute drive you will see a small roundabout, in front of the commercial centre. Go over round about to the next one. Turn left on Calle Alcacil and the apartments begin at about No. 66. Follow road until you find No. 48 this is your block, ground floor, apartment B, on the right.

Parking is right by the door.

About Rosemary Taylor

We are a British family of 5, now living abroad, hoping to retire in Spain.

We love that the Costa Calida has so much to offer, some of the best beaches on the med, great towns for shopping and sight seeing. The resort has everything for a very relaxing break and is great for young children as our 3 children will testify. They loved the pools and playgrounds, and the beaches of the Mar Menor are only 15 minutes away.

Why Rosemary Taylor chose Murcia - Costa Calida

We love the location on the Costa Calida. The area remains very Spanish and the beaches of the Mar Menor are superb. The sea is so salty you can float and much warmer than other parts of the mediteranean.

There are a great selection of restaurants and shops in the nearby towns and villages. The area is great to explore. We love Murcia and Cartegena.

There is also the new water park and shopping centre just south of Murcia.

What makes this apartment unique

The choice of pools is amazing on this resort. Our apartment is a ground floor property with a very large garden which is full enclosed, so is very safe for pets and children.

Coast/Beach:

The warm waters of the Mar Menor are only 15 mins away by car. The concentration of salts in this shallow lagoon are renowned for their health giving properties and the area is typically Spanish and unspoiled by tourism. The beaches further north in Alicante province have long been popular holiday destinations and boast many shops, restaurants and sea fronts. The port area in Alicante has recently been renovated to create some lovely promenades.

Travel:

The resort is just 15 minutes from San Javier (Murcia) airport and 40 minutes from Alicante airport. A car is a must to take full advantage of the surrounding beaches and towns.

Distances:

The village of La Tercia is within walking distance where you can find a small supermarket and wine bar. Within a few minutes drive are the villages of Sucina and Balsicas and San Javier and the bigger towns along the Mar Menor are just 15 minutes away where there is a superb range and variety of restaurants, supermarkets and tourist shops. The historical city of Murcia is 20 minutes by car and hosts a cathedral, football stadium and the new shopping mall called Nueve Condominio.

Further Details:

The Roman port of Cartegena is 20 minutes drive away and has a beautiful restored promenade and is architecturally a delight to explore. Going North you will find the livelier towns of Torrevieja, Guardamar and Alicante for a day out or for dining in the evening. The Mar Menor is Europe's biggest salt water lagoon. It is renowned for having a water temperature 5* higher than the surrounding Mediterranean sea. It has a depth of no more than 7 meters and a salinity which creates buoyancy, making it one of the safest places in the world to swim. The Mar Menor is popular for water sports and is one of the best locations in Europe for windsurfing. For the more adventurous there is a Scuba diving club where PADI trained English instructors cater for complete beginners as well as competent divers. The Mar Menor is the safest place to try your first dive or for qualified divers there art boat dives in the Cabo de Palos reserve.

Notes on accommodation: Exceptional position for families with small children (and pets) worried about safety. The garden area is paved and enclosed with a high wall and access to the pool is from around the building. The garden looks onto the children's playground, large pool and kiddies pool, and communal gardens with seating. Heated/air-conditioning, very secure. Outside: The resort has over 8 pools and 8 playgrounds for all ages. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels/ pool towels and bedlinen included . Peaceful as ever!

Second time back, would have been a third had not the previous reviewer got in there before us and we had to slum it at la torre golf! If you want a bar/restaurant/nightlife it's not for you and you need a non drinker to drive you about if not. Or stock up and use the wonderful space, BBQ and peace and quiet.

Having said that, its a high end spec apartment with a wonderful patio area, clean, wellatively well equipped, more tea towels or even better as previously reviewed, a dishwasher would be wonderful! (Especially as you are 90% likely to be self catering!!) Also some decent fold up chairs to take to the beach or pool, the present ones, tho trendy are uncomfortable,a bit worse for wear,and not the sort you can take to the beach or pool easily.

I really hope that just one enterprise could set up a shop, or the guys running the gym/social club could get a mini bar up and running, even if it's just high season to start with. It's a truly wonderful place, but just one or two little things would boost their economy/turnover so much. Personally we would just like a place to get bread, milk etc as la tercia, where the nearest shop is, is not a morning stroll and I'm an aerobics instructor!!

As mentioned, mark and Maria are great and very helpful, I wouldwhole heartedly recommend this place and if I'm honest have not reviewed it before as we wanted to keep it to ourselves.

A Peaceful Haven

My Wife and I stayed at Rosemary's apartment at UGR La Tercia from 04th to 14th June 2017.

Firstly lets deal with the complex as a whole, a failed golf complex it may be but don't let that lead you to jump to other assumptions. If you are ok with the lack of commercial activity its paradise, the apartments are built and maintained to a very high standard, the grounds and pools are really well looked after and its really peaceful. Its about 15/20 Km's from the coastal resorts with all the hustle and bustle, shops bars and restaurants you could want or need but if you don't mind driving its worth the effort to get away from all that once you've had your fill of it. Some small scale commercial enterprises would enhance the complex, there is what now looks a very ambitious commercial centre which is completely unused. Whether they can attract the necessary investment in the new economic reality to get it off the ground remains to be seen.

The apartment itself is clean, comfortable and well equipped. With a BBQ and full cooking facilities and all the equipment you need to cater for yourselves to a good standard. The outside space is huge and has areas of both sun and shade for most of the day. A small storage area on the patio houses the hot water heater, washing machine, sunloungers etc. As a suggestion I'd probably look at the possibility of also housing a dishwasher in there. We enjoy preparing our own meals but nobody enjoys the washing up.

In addition to the many pools that if you had a mind to you could always have had one to yourself, we only used the one nearest the apartment. If there were six people there it was a busy period, the site has facilities for gym, tennis, football/basketball and bowls. We would maybe have played tennis and had a try of bowls too if equipment was available.

Property managers Maria and Mark provided a good service. We arranged for Maria to do us a bit of shopping for our late arrival and Mark showed us around lots of different apartments on the complex as we were considering a purchase. In the end we decided against as our own use was not enough to justify the communal charges and renting out is not as simple as someone with no experience might have thought. Rents are incredibly reasonable and we'd stick to that option for future visits which we would not hesitate to make.

The Costa Calida area has so much to offer, beautiful beaches, shopping, excellent restaurants to suit every taste and cities providing cultural activities. Maria and Mark Matchett have been providing services on site since 2004 when the resort was being built. They have been a great support to me as an owner and always provide a warm welcome to my guests. I'm glad you found the pools and gardens well maintained and my apartment well equipped, apart from the dishwasher!. Sorry about that, we will look into it. Beautiful quiet place

Lovely apartment. Great communication with both Rosemary and Maria. Place was very quiet and you definitely need a car to get around. Nothing in site apart from lovely swimming pools. Lovely Indian on Balsicas industrial estate.
