Luxury waterfront lake home with private boat launch, pool, hot tub and dock.
We are Washington State natives and owner's of a residential construction company. We have three young children and a desire to raise our children with an appreciation for family, community and faith in God. We built this home purely so we could could enjoy time with our family, friends and invite others into community with us. This property has been a blessing to us. We are thrilled to be able to make it available to others so that they might have the opportunity to connect with family and friends in the same way we have.
Darby purchased this House in 2010
Why Darby chose Orondo
This property is suitably named "Sunken Acres" because it is actually 12 acres, however, today only 2 1/2 acres remain above the water. Lake Entiat (also called Rocky Reach Reservoir) was formed following the building of the Rocky Reach Dam in 1962. We were in search of the perfect property - not only for our family, but a place where our friends and community could all come together to connect and build memories. We fell in love with property first and foremost because of its breathtaking waterfront location on a private little cove and the proximity to Seattle. Only 2 1/2 hours drive, it is easy to make the trip for a weekend getaway. The location boasts the amazing seasons of Eastern Wa with lots of snow in the winter and plenty of sun in the summer. We love that we can play there all year around! The original property had a rambler that had been completely gutted inside. We decided to start over and design/build an amazing home that captured the views and was specifically designed for hosting large groups.

Let me tell you about my weekend at Sunken Acres Estate!
2,490 characters is not enough to summarize our overall impression of Sunken Acres Estate! Our group of 14 adults and two kiddos booked this property for a weekend getaway and had the best time, despite the less than favorable weather and a small power outage and a small invasion of fruit flies (due to our lack of following instructions).
Booking a rental property for a group our size is not the easiest of tasks but Darby makes it an effortless process. The booking process was seamless. Darby was very easy to work with and very responsive. We booked the property a year out at which point Darby explained the process, when deposits were due and what to expect when we got closer to our reservation date.
When our weekend finally came, we could not have asked for anything more from the house. Darby and her husband have created the perfect entertaining house. They truly have thought of everything that you would need for a house on the lake for any occasion.
The check in process was easy - even allowing us an early check-in and letting us meet our wine tour guide prior to the 4pm check in time. Darby has taken the time to label and provide clear instructions for everything in the house. **MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED AT ALL TIMES** - as clearly stated in the check in list posted on the wall The fruit flies are NO JOKE!
There literally is EVERYTHING you need for a weekend away. At no point did anyone in our group desire something that wasn't at the house. Everything is in great working condition too. We utilized a couple of the water toys (Stand up paddle boards, canoes and even the paddle boat). The pool is heated and great even if the weather is not. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub!
We did experience a power outage during the afternoon of our second day but we were able to get in contact with Darby and the power company to get the issue resolved. Since it was in the middle of the afternoon, we really weren't effected all that much.
I can't thank Darby enough for providing such a great place to spend a weekend away from home. I wish all VRBO properties and owners provided the level of service and comfort that Darby and Sunken Acres Estate provide! My only request would be to have another, smaller property to rent for a get-away for just me and my boyfriend!
Best VRBO ever!
I have stayed in a lot of VRBO properties and this was by far the best! The home is beautiful and it has everything you would ever need for cooking, playing, and relaxing. We will be back again next year for sure!!
Thank you Lauren! We loved having you and your guests. Can't wait to see you again next Summer!
Are SIX stars possible?!
Oh Sunken Acres- where to begin?! From the moment we booked this property over a YEAR ago (get it while it's hot people- there's a reason this place books up!!), we knew this was somewhere special. This home is perfect for a large family group or gathering of several families. You will absolutely not be disappointed . As for us, we are a group of longtime friends (over 25 years!) that no matter what make time for an annual pilgrimage to the Chelan with our families. We have stayed in multiple rental homes in the area and this one was undoubtedly the BEST - on all fronts. The home is absolutely lovely. From the location, finishes, to the kitchen appliances, to the comfortable and cozy bedrooms, it is clear the owners want you to feel as at home as they do. The house is situated right on the water, and the private dock is not only gorgeous but unbelievably functional. The home provides every single type of water sports equipment you can imagine, as well as life jackets, pool toys, etc. Our eight kids (all girls, ranging in age from ages 8-18) LOVED paddle boarding, kayaking, paddle boating and swimming in the lake. But let's be real, the adults had the best time. Corn hole, pool, amazing fully-appointed kitchen , great AV equipment (projector TV, indoor/outdoor speakers), comfortable, and cozy home featuring all modern amenities, - you can't go wrong. The owner Darby was extremely responsive and helpful; and even sent supplies over when we needed something (I have never experienced this while booking a vacation rental!). We absolutely loved Sunken Acres, and are already booking for next year. Thank you Darby and the Carlisle family. We truly felt like guests (not renters) in your home.
Gillian we can't thank you enough for the glowing review. We simply love that every one of all ages had an amazing time. Exactly what this place is built for. Your group is perfect of for this place - we hope to see you guys again next year! ~ Darby
Always a great stay thx Darby and Rob!
Best house on the lake for a bigger group.
Thanks Rich. Hope to see you and your group again next year!
Close to perfection :)
We have stayed in many VRBO homes over the years; this one has moved to the top of our list. Vacationing with 3 generations - 8 adults and 8 kids (ages 2 months, 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 8.5, 10.5) - can be challenging, but this home has so many amenities - something for every age! Here are some of the highlights from the kids: Taya - watching movies in the bunk room; Asher - the pool and watching movies on the big screen and all the games; Case - the bunk beds and how they were all connected; Titus - the boating activities/tubing; Jovi - all the dress up stuff and the play kitchen. The property is filled with things to do - the paddle boat, canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards, the play set and huge yard to play in, lots of toys, books & games for the little ones. It was great having the dock and boat launch right on the property. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, with more than enough plates, bowls, cups and silverware for our large group. If I had to find a negative, it would be the lack of cupboard space for food, although we used the long counter at the end of the dining area. It was great to be able to all sit together at the tables for our meals with plenty of room although some see-through shades might be nice as the sun can be quite bright. There was plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, foil, plastic wrap, baggies. Many of our previous houses had minimal amounts of these items. Lots of beach towels for everyone and hairdryers in the bathrooms. The house is equipped with a crib, pack n play, high chair and baby gates. Literally everything you could possibly need. Our family likes to take walks and let the kids ride bikes, which wasn't possible because of the busy highway so close, but Lincoln Rock State Park is just a few miles down the road and there is a trail from there. The house has instructions on how everything works and all the light switches are labeled so you know which one is which :) Another perk was the Estes Fruit Stand just across the road with all sorts of yummy things. The pool was great and the amount of outdoor seating was plentiful and under a canopy to shade from the sun. Two grills were also available to use for outdoor meals. This house was definitely built with large groups in mind and was filled with everything you might need. If we had any questions, Darby was a text or phone call away and was more than willing to help. She made the VRBO process very enjoyable. Thank you - We will be back!!
This was the third year our family has enjoyed this property and hope to be back next year!
The process of renting was very straightforward and the property is everything it is pro ported to be and more. I highly recommend.
Thanks Mark. We hope to see you and your family again next year! Love having your stay with us. ~ Darby
