Our cottage is a 2 minute level stroll from the meandering Rio Gilao and the famous Roman Bridge which links this old-world part of town to the newly restored centre. Nestled and attached behind one of Tavira’s many 16th century churches, the house is a renovated grain store which offers you simple stress free accommodation. The cottage is perfect for couples although it can provide cosy dwellings for small families. Situated right in the heart of Tavira. this beautiful Eastern Algarve town boasts a plethora of sights and attractions within easy reach, whatever the purpose of your visit, our cottage can offer you a comfortable and traditional stay.

A charming little house, well appointed and easy to live in, in a great location

This was our first time in Portugal and we just loved it. Tavira is the kind of town that you can stroll around in. It is small enough to see everything on foot and there is plenty to see; lots of history and interesting culture. The churches are very

beautiful, the castle and its garden is well worth a visit. We were there for a week and didn't get to see everything.

Our host was ver helpful with notes on where to go and recommended several excellent restaurants. The food, especially the fish was first class and very reasonably priced: two courses with wine (24-34 euro). We had a hire car, but the train station allows you to travel the coastline and stop of to explore fishing villages and beach resorts.

Our favourite place, next to Tavira is Cacela Velha, just along the coast toward Spain.

Would we return. Yes, most certainly.

Wonderful holidays in Tavira!!

This cottage is very nice and typical. The patio is wonderful and very appreciated for having dinner at night when the weather is hot (you have everything you need to relax sun chair, barbecue, table and chairs). Everything is furnished, there's nothing missing in the kitchen. Thank you for lending beach umbrella and toys for kids, towels and bedshits,.... You can also find in the house a lot of documents and informations to read about Tavira. The cottage is clean, convenient and very quiet. No need to have a car (grocery, shops, restaurants, bike/car rental, bus/train station, ferry to Tavira island are very closed by walking).

We'll be back to Porta Nova Tavira soon for sure! Thank you!

Sehr zentral gelegen!

Wir hatten für zwei Wochen zu Dritte (12jähriger Sohn) eine zentrale Unterkunft. Der schattige Patio war gut zum Frühstücken und abends. Da es im August sehr heiss war haben wir uns sehr über die Klimaanlage gefreut. Natürlich ist es nicht sehr ruhig dort, direkt an der Strasse uns abens/nachts einige Passaten auf dem Weg nach Hause... Nach 1 Woche bekamen wir frische Bettwäsche und Handtücher, das war sehr nett.

Maison sombre surtout le salon, pas de coin pour manger à 3 ou 4 à l'intérieur,la façade et les fenêtres sont sales(pas comme sur la photo). Le ménage pas fait: dès qu'on entre on voit nettement la poussière dans toutes les pièces,il reste encore du sable des derniers locataires sur les plaids des canapés mais le pire c'est le linge des lits qui n'avait pas été changé (heureusement qu'on a trouvé du linge dans un placard).

Beaches nearby. Tavira beach is a 10 minute drive to the ferry at 4 Aguas. During the summer months a 10 minute walk gets you to the ferry which docks along the river on the opposite side of Town.


With good airport links via public or private transport a car is unnecessary for the accommodation. Once in Tavira there is a local bus and train with good service. If your choice is to explore the surrounding hills then a car would be more suitable.


Travel by car from Faro Airpot is approx 35 mins. The Spanish border can be reached within 45 mins by car.
