Troglodyte in a village surrounded by vineyards near Tours LOIRE VALLE
- english, french
I live in Rochecorbon since 12 years a picturesque village near Tours I am retired, my husband work he is chemist in industry, we have 2 girls and a son, they are married. I like walking in the vineyards which surround my village-, I like the cinema and to travel, to discover the other countries and to meet people and speak with us.I like treck abroad. I went in Cuba, Costa Rica, Birmanie, Nepal, Madagascar (by walk) from a village to another village, to meet people. In Rochecorbon and In Touraine I known many roads to walk. In june 2014 I walked along "chemins de Saint Guilem" during 12 days 254,300 KM with my husband, a friend, and a guide. It's was interesting to meet others personns along the road and the evening in the gites.
Annick purchased this House in 2000
Why Annick chose Rochecorbon
I rent a part of my property because, it is necessary to (preserve) the heritage built by our ancestors and I wish to make share to the tourists of passage the story of this particular house, typical in touraine, at first stone career to built chateaux then the cellars was to keep the wine, or to live into. I love Touraine for the quiet of this aera, the Loire river, it's a wild river, the châteaux of the kings of France, and the wines of Loire. Near the gîtes you can meeting a lot of producers and drink wines of Touraine.
What makes this House unique
The gite is very confortable, it's near Tours, and near the châteaux, you can walk in the vineyards, and along the Loire river, in Rochecorbon, you have butcher and baker, and very very good restaurants near the gite.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
It was such a treat to stay in a authentic troglodyte home. The gite was very spacious and in a great location to visit all the nearby Chateau's.
Annick was a wonderful host that allowed us to visit their wine cellar and tasting room, in the cave below the gite, and historic wine production of the past on their property. She was always available to answer any questions and offer advise. Her garden was beautiful and added that special touch and feel.
This was a rare treat and we would recommend to all wanting a laid back unique experience, with all the conveniences of modern life.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
A great experience in a totally unique type of dwelling
All mod-cons provided so really a home-from-home only in a cave! Secure off-road parking for the car and a property that is well-placed for easy daily trips out to the local Chateaux and a good walk from here into Tours (6kms round-trip) for the energetic. Plenty of local wineries, I can highly recommend Moncontour (thanks to Annick & Bernard). Our hosts were very attentive and always on-hand if needed. There are local shops for supplies especially bread and pastries, of course.
Characterful gite in a convenient but peaceful location
This was our first time in a Troglodyte gite and we enjoyed it! It is well equipped and has lovely large rooms as well as a private terrace with shade and garden furniture. It is close to vineyards and very convenient for Tours (bus stop nearby) and easy access to roads for other parts of the Loire Valley. Annick was very welcoming and we appreciated the complimentary local wine and tour of her cellars and insights into the lifestyles of the old vignerons!
Well equipped troglodyte gite.
The accommodation was comfortable although would not be ideal for every one. It was well equipped and spacious, however rather dated and not perfectly clean. The nature of the building meant it was dark inside with a slightly damp feel. The location is good for touring the Loire valley and visiting the chateaux. Rochcorbon is a small place with a couple of restaurants and shops also a cashpoint machine.
Cute and quiet spot in beautiful French village
We enjoyed a few lovely quiet days in Annick's gite- set into the rocky hillside, its like a cave, and therefore very cool and quiet. Its perfect for this family of misaphonics (noise haters). Annick was a friendly and helpful host/
We enjoyed walking around the nice little village, buying local foods, riding bikes by the river and through the quiet village streets and visiting the amazing Chateau Chamonceux.
Unique and wonderful rental
This is a wonderful rental that is a typical Troglodyte cave dwelling but with all the modern conveniences. Underneath the apartment is an old wine cellar that the owner Annick will show you. The owners live in the large house on the property and there is a private gate for security. The apartment is very large and well appointed. Rochecorbon is a beautiful small village and a great base for day trips. There are several nice restaurants in town and you can take a short boat trip on the Loire River. I would highly recommend this rental property.
