Cottage for two with Pool and Sea View in Denia / Las Rotas

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Villa in Denia, Valencia / Alicante, Spain - Peaceful Location, 15 Minutes Walk to the Coast

La Cartujita was built in a rustic Castilian style, situated on the upper terrace behind the main house with a fantastic view of the sea, next to the magnificent Mount Montgo rising behind the town of Denia. It's at the far end of Las Rotas, in a quiet area up on a hill, in a private road. This cottage is ideal for a couple looking for a peaceful and quiet place to relax in. La Cartujita has recently been renovated and tastefully furnished to a very high standard. The main feature is the Moorish style wood carved ceiling in the bedroom and a heart-shaped swimming pool in front of the terrace. It's just a 15 minute walk to the rocky coast of Las Rotas, ideal for snorkeling. The port of Denia is 10 min. drive away and has miles of sandy beaches, a marina, restaurants, shops and outdoor markets. One can go to Javea by boat or drive there in 20 minutes through the beautiful winding mountain road with views of Mount Montgo, Denia harbour and the old town of Javea.

About Jörgen Kunath and Anthony Ma

Jorgen and Anthony have had over twenty years of experience in the hospitality industry. First an awarding winning restaurant in London, than a country house hotel near Sherbone Dorset.

We moved to Spain in 2006 and have found a beautiful house in Les Rotes. on a hillside with a separate building in the garden. We renovated this cottage with all modern amenities while retaining the original style.

We will always be available during your stay, to deal with any problems and give advice on excursions and restaurants. Should you want to move to this part of Spain, we can give you advice and help you with the language.

Below you´ll find comments guests have left on other web-sites:

Why Jörgen Kunath and Anthony Ma chose Javea, Moraira and Denia area

Yet only ten minutes from Denia with some of he best restaurants on the costa Blanca.

Large well maintained garden.

Snorkeling in marine reserve within walking distance.

"Breath Taking Veiws" 4 Oct.2014

Spent 10 days at La Cartujita and must say what a splendid place it is.

The cottage was first class, all the kitchen amenities required, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Very relaxing holiday about 3 miles from Denia town, We travelled to Denia everyday and night, vey nice Spanish town, lovely food especially the Tapas.

Would highly recommend this place, Jorgan and Antony (owners) very helpful and pleasant

"Lovely setting, great views too" 18 Aug.2014

My partner and I stayed here for two weeks at the start of August. We found the directions to the casita given were clear and easy to follow. This is a superb setting for a holiday cottage, the casita is well equipped and clean, there are all the facilities that you need as well. There was even a welcome pack of food and drink. The views from the gardens and terraces are spectacular, ranging from mountains to sea views. Jorgen and Anthony are friendly and most helpful welcoming hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Just one thing to note though are the numbers of steps up to the casita, there are quite a few but now we are now a lot fitter after two weeks of climbing them.

"Perfection!!!!!" 13 July,2014

My boyfriend an I have just returned from a fabulous week at la cartujita (13th July - 20th), we decided after a very disappointing all inclusive holiday last year that this year we wanted somewhere a little more personal we're we could feel relaxed and comfortable! This place ticked all our boxes!! The pool area and gardens are amazing, plenty of sunny areas but also shade as it does get very hot (41 degrees one day)!! There is a particularly good spot at the top of the garden where you can watch the sun set, also a good spot for catching the last rays of sun after the pool area is in the shade! The villa it's self couldn't be any better, well equipped kitchen (a pleasure to cook in, surprisingly good pans!!), English TV (which we didn't watch much but always nice to have), very good wireless broadband, nice large shower and comfy bed.

"Beautiful!" 3 July 2014

My partner and I have just spent 2 weeks in Denia in the most beautiful Villa, with wonderful gardens and amazing views!

Absolutely loved the heart shaped pool, such a romantic setting. The gardens and seating areas are so peaceful to sit at and give you wonderful views. I found it to be a very spiritual place and was just what we needed.

The owners, Anthony and Jorgen, are so welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed a few laughs with them. ;-) Thank you guys! We will definitely be visiting again soon!

"Absolutely stunning views"

My partner and i just come back from a truly wonderfull holiday in Denia. The villa surpassed our expectations, even better than it looked on the website. The Owners Jorgen & Antony could not have been more welcoming, they certainly know how to make you feel at home.

Pretty little cottage with stunning views!

  • 5 of 5

I have been meaning to write this review for ages!! We stayed at this beautiful cottage for a week in June 2016 and it was perfect for us as a couple in need of some relaxation, peace and quiet from our busy and hetic work lives. The cottage had everything we needed - one bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a combined kitchen/dining/living area which was very clean and cosy. Outside you have stunning floral gardens, the heart shaped pool, loungers and views over Denia which are breathtaking. There are also many areas around the cottage to take some fabulous photos. Car hire is needed to get around as the cottage is up a very high hill hence the fabulous views! We ate in some lovely restaurants in Denia especially around the Marina which you are spoilt for choice although a little pricey. Our favourite restaurant was Ludo (on the main road between the villa and marina if googled you will find easily) which had great food at great prices and inviting friendly staff. We ate here a couple of times!!

Lastly, Jorgen and Anthony, the owners who live below the cottage, were lovely and from the initial enquiry about staying at their cottage they were very informative, efficient and helpful. They welcomed us into their home on the first night for a little drink and to give us information about the town and what we could do on our stay if we felt like it. We really appreciated it and would like to return one day. Thanks for having us :-)

‘I wonder who lives there’

  • 5 of 5

You know when you walk up one of those roads in Spain and see a notice like URBANIZACION PRIVADA PROHIBIDO EL PASO A LOS NO RESIDENTES but you wander on, see beautiful properties and think ‘I wonder who lives there’?

Well, for one fabulous week in September, we did.

Everything good and more that could, possibly, be said about Jörgen and Anthony’s ‘La Cartujita’ has been said before by others. Suffice to say, we wish we were there right now!

Terrific little hideaway cottage

  • 5 of 5

Tucked away on a hillside with far reaching views of the sea and mountains. Extensive terraced gardens with many seating options, sun or shade. The welcome pack was thoughtful and appreciated. Very clean and comfortable with a firm king size bed. Perfect for a couple. Jorgen and Anthony were the perfect hosts, providing good information and local knowledge maps ect. English TV channels were a bonus and Denia is a great destination, miles of sandy beaches, endless eating options and places of interest.

A perfect oasis.

Great location, great people!

  • 5 of 5

I read reviews by other visitors and agree with all the positive statements. A pretty and well laid cottage with a walk on balcony from lounge for morning coffee or walk out of main door and on same terrace level, another shaded breakfast table (we counted 7 other tables/chairs at differring levels of the terraces. Own entry gate and steps to cottage with ample parking across from this. 7 minute drive to town, with a Lidl close by too. We found that we dined at home quite alot because of the beautiful surroundings, after spending earlier part of the day on beach, pool, or a constitutional around town. Best sandy beaches a short drive to the east side of Denia, in our opinion. Rent a small car, as parking can be tight in town. Jorgen and Anthony were perfect host's, giving kind and thoughtful help if required. We liked it so much we are organising our children(adults) to stay later this year! We'll certainly be back.

Fantastic property!

  • 5 of 5

loved the cottage, everything you could think of was provided, including some complimentary food on arrival. The property was spotlessly clean, the gardens, terraces and pool were immaculately kept. The views are stunning. Denia is a nice town , ideal for tourists but has maintained it's Spanish charm. There are numerous restaraunts to choose from in . There are numerous places of interest to visit in the locality although we were drawn to spending much of our Holiday relaxing in the garden. The owners are extremely welcoming and give good advice on the local area. I cannot think of a single criticism and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

We had an excellent and relaxing holiday in this very private and quaint villa. It has fantastic views from its elevated position within beautiful tiered gardens.

The owners had everything prepared for our arrival and provided additional information and that special touch. Denia is a lovely resort with great beaches and lovely quality restaurants around the marina. Taxi or Car required,Excellent holiday would return.
