What a wonderful place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fantastic, well thought out and beautiful property. Hosts were amazing, Dave and Doreen have the balance just right - friendly, so helpful but thoughtful too - nothing too much trouble. A lovely little hamlet, felt rural but so close to charming Chateaubriant, fantastic town. Booked for next year and can't wait to return! Highly recommended.
What an absolute gem
In a fit of pure selfishness I am tempted to lie and say this place is awful. That way I could guarantee that we could have it to ourselves!!
We stayed for the week with very kind weather and totally enjoyed the absolute peace and quiet that this lovely property offers. Doreen and Dave are a great couple who really make you feel very welcome. The local town of Chateaubriant has everything you need and the driving is a breeze with quiet roads and uncluttered streets.
The property itself is really well appointed with comfy beds (that's a first) and a kitchen diner that we felt at home in straight away. Our morning routine was putting the coffee machine on whilst the sun poured through the back door and tucking into croissant and jam. We took our daughters aged 11 and 17 with us and they both really enjoyed themselves. The swimming pool is a real bonus.
We liked it so much we handed Doreen our deposit back for next year.
Soooooo looking forward to it.
Thank you for your lovely review! It's not often that departing guests hand me a cash deposit for the following year, not that I'm complaining of course. We're glad you had such a good time that you are coming back next year. Looking forward to welcoming you again!
Lovely Holiday Home!
The Stable is excellent and very well equipped with everything you would need for a pleasant stay. Owners, Dave and Doreen were very helpful and friendly. A quiet position which we found really nice and only a short drive to nearest village and town for good shops and bars etc. Wednesday market is a must, and look out for the Chi Chi Man!! Major cities are close too, with Nantes worth a visit. Also look out for the lakes with crazy golf and the Chateau de Chateaubriant.
Thank you Marc for your lovely review! You and your family were wonderful guests. We can't believe the time those children (and you) spent in the pool, I will recommend wet suits to everyone from now on!
Hoping that we can welcome you to Hirondelle Farm again in the future.
Lovely, lovely and....lovely!
Beautiful clean and homely gite, fantastic owners who were friendly but not intrusive. Highly recommended! Can't wait to return.
Thank you Cabby for your kind words. Hope to welcome you again soon!
We are a family of 5, with children aged 11 and 16.We stayed at the Stable for 2 weeks in July 2013. The gite is the best we have ever stayed in - clean, well equipped and Dave and Doreen were excellent hosts. We had a very relaxing holiday and overall the weather was good - some days 36'C and the odd thunderstorm! There are plenty of walks, lovely villages and the pool was a definite hit with the children. We vistied the market at Chateaubriant, St Nazaire, Nantes and excellent zoo at Boissiere du Dore.
An excellent holiday in a fantastic gite!!
Thank you Bethan for such a lovely review. We enjoyed having you all here, it was great to hear the girls in the pool having such fun. Thank you too for leaving the Stable so clean and tidy. Perhaps we can welcome you to Hirondelle Farm another time! Take care all xx
Beautiful place, amazing scenery, wonderful hosts, had a lovely time. Great to feel as if at home rather than under another's roof. Would be happy to recommend & be visiting again.
It was so lovely to have you and Alex here on your honeymoon, hopefully we will welcome you again one day!
