Married with 2 children, Isobel (22) and Alexander (18). Spend as much time in Barbados as possible - having holidayed on the West Coast on and off for over 25 years.

We have finished the property to our personal tastes, standards, and requirements, rather than blandly and economically just for letting purposes. This is always a risk, but I hope you like it. Much effort has gone into it. We have had some very kind comments from those who have stayed.

I think that you will find everything in the house which you need, from wireless broadband to a professional Italian icecream-maker to a large selection of books - but if there's anything else you think it might benefit from, or anything which might be done better, please let us know.

Why John Short chose Barbados

Always used to stay at Cobblers Cove hotel, but having your own house only 2 minutes away is even nicer! Highlights for us in Barbados are, first and foremost, our wonderful housekeeper, Donna; then, simply being on the West Coast, fish fresh out of the sea and then straight onto the barbecue, terrific restaurants in stunning beachside locations, lazing on the amazingly beautiful beach or around the pool, or meeting some of the locals and watching the sun set over a few rums in Braddy's Bar. The youngsters enjoy Harbour Lights, a nightclub by the sea in Bridgetown, which has a special magic about it. And everyone is friendly.

When it's time to leave, I always feel as if I'm about to be executed - so I insist on having my next trip planned before flying off!

What makes this unique

The location in a quiet, secure neighbourhood by all the best beaches, restaurants & hotels on Barbados is a huge advantage. The house and gardens are large and it provides a lot of space relative to the number of people it sleeps. There are no apartments next to you to be a disturbance. The patio and bar are great for entertaining or just having a relaxing barbecue on your own around the pool. If you wish to entertain, we know superb staff who at modest cost can help with food or making cocktails.

You can have the best of both worlds by spending an afternoon or having a meal at Cobblers Cove, with all the service and resources that you would expect from a Relais & Chateaux hotel. We know them well, so let them know where you're staying. They will look after you. And so will we.

Our Stay in Barbbados at the Coral house

We had a great tie on the Island and renting this villa was perfect for 4 adults and 2 young children. Close enough to the beach but plenty of privacy and away from noisy beach road. The villa has a great set up for outdoor living and its location is great between Speightstown and Holetown. Donna made the house very nice and clean each day and the manager and owner were easily available. Beds and sheets are comfortable and soft. Kitchen is certainly well equipped and it was so nice to bbq or make ceviche from the fresh fish (tuna, swordfish, mahi mahi) bought a few mins drive towards Holetown. The Lonestar was by far our favourite place to eat and drink and it is only 6 mins drive from the villa! Gibbs beach is so nice and quiet, we were happy there we no beach bars or sun loungers, it made the beach feel private! What a great time we all had, hope to come back.

Gibbs Beach is about 300m away. It is relatively quiet and very beautiful. The next beach along (10 mins walk along the sand) is Mullins Beach which is more lively and has a bar/restaurant, ideal for lunch.


Grantley Adams airport is a 45 minute drive away.


The Coral House is situated just 300m from Gibbs Beach, on the famous Platinum Coast where most of the island's best restaurants, bars and beaches are located. It is a 10 minute drive from Holetown, where a shopping mall and 'Chattel village' are located. Two mins from the house is the local fish market, where fresh tuna, mahi-mahi, barracuda, red snapper, kingfish and marlin are obtainable. Golf, tennis, snorkeling, diving, water-skiing, jet-skiing, are all within easy reach.

Further Details:

This property provides a superb alternative to hotel accommodation, with prices starting at approximately US$115 per day per person (excluding flights, but including VAT). It offers a large amount of space and a good level of service with excellent facilities. A cook, chef, and/or butler can be hired at additional cost if required. However, the local restaurants are excellent, and the barbecue area is ideal for cooking and enjoying the local fish or excellent meat available from a range of suppliers. This will be a truly relaxing holiday which ticks all the boxes.

Notes on accommodation: All bedrooms are air-conditioned, as well as the kitchen. The fourth bedroom (a twin) is on the ground floor separated by a few feet from the rest of the ground floor through the car-port. It is nonetheless an integral part of the main building, attached via the first floor. It is ideal for teenagers whose late night returns may otherwise cause disturbance, or for anyone who desires the privacy of their own unit. Outside: Verandah, pool, bar area with ceiling fans, excellent BBQ and extensive seating and tables. There are more than adequate loungers, chairs and tables around the pool. The bar has an attractive black granite top and surround, and the area is well lit with modern and attractive lighting. Utility Room: Additional fridge/freezer Miele washing machine and separate dryer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The maid carries out all washing, drying and ironing. Towels and linen are changed every other day. Pool and beach towels are also provided. Property is cleaned every day and beds are made every day (except Sunday).
