I moved to Croatia for a change of pace after living in London. Over the last few years we have renovated properties on the island of Hvar and in the Old Town of Split and we enjoy renting these out to guests from all over the world. Croatia is becoming an increasingly population destination and I think Hvar offers a great mix of relaxation and vibe depending on what you are looking for. Split is an amazing city to explore "the Barcelona of the Balkans" Hvar is the ideal location to relax, a memory of what the Mediterranean was like 30+ years ago. If you are not tied to school holidays then April, May, September and even October are beautiful months to visit the country, you get much more for your money and there are no crowds. Whatever you end up doing - Enjoy your Croatia !
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
A 400 year old stone ruin in the centre of Hvar Town facing the old Fort so I sort of figured that I couldn't go too far wrong.
The house is great, very cool in the summer and you can park (for a short while) within a few meters of the front door which is rare for Hvar Town, but priceless when renovating!
Location Location Location! 60cm thick Stone Walls so its cool and quiet - just what you want when on Holiday.
The house has solid wooden shutters - perfect to block out the heat and light and grab a sneaky siesta.
I love this house, at 400+ years old, it really feels like owning a piece of Croatian History!
We loved our stay, quite a find. The staff were very helpful in helping us find our way around. It is a great place for a family stay we have told our friends about it. thanks to you all. Martha From Preston.
Mark, thanks very much, it was a great break and you were very helpful in organising our tour to the Fort and the south side of the island. We loved taking your dog for a walk - what an angel. thanks again and we shall be seeing you next year ! Andy & Grace. Surrey UK.
Jadranka, Just to let you know we made our flight ! Thanks for sorting out the ferry for us, we were a bit lost and a bit tired ? We had a great time and hope to one day come back. Josh & Lucy. London.
Just a note to say thanks, Junior was a great find ! We really appreciate you waiting for us and will recommend you to friends.
Allan, Richmond, London.
Special interest holidays:
We work with an art gallery in Dol and often have clients who stay with us and visit / work with the gallery. Cycle holidays / Rock Climbing Trips / Sailing are all very popular on Hvar. We are more than happy to fit in and help with any special interest holiday you would like to organise!
The sea is about 200m from the house, with boat rides available to the nearby unpopulated Pakleni Islands, most notably Palmizana on Sveti Klement Island.
Boat trips start at 35 kuna (4 GBP / 5 EUR per person).
The nearest airport to the island is Split. From the the airport a bus meets all flights and stops at the ferry port. Ferry Boats or a catamaran leave 8 + times a day in summer, 5 times a day all year round and take 2 or 1 hour(s) respectively and dock at Stari Grad or Hvar Town iteself. Boats also serve the island from Italy, Rijeka or Dubrovnik.
All foods and essentials are available 7 days a week within a 2 minute walk, including a banks, ATM, Post Office, pharmacy, doctor, dentist etc... In the summer there are many festivals and concerts in Hvar Town on the main square or take an evening walk along the promenade and watch the super yachts come in !
At Hvar and Split we highly recommend the Restaurant Me & Mrs Jones in Jelsa, it is worth the trip. In Hvar Town we often go out to the Pakleni Islands to eat and thoroughly enjoy ourselves the Zori Restaurant at Palmizana or in Hvar Town itself we often end up at Paradise Garten, or for the most authentic Croatian fish dishes go to Restaurant Junior in the Old Town - Enjoy !
