Villa 103 enjoys one of the best positions on the resort. The views are wide open but the poolside remains a very private place, perfect for those lazy days in the sun. Comfortable sun beds and the swaying fronds of the palm trees in the surrounding garden just add to that feeling of sensuous relaxation. Inside, the villa is very spacious and beautifully appointed with all you need to feel at home on your holiday. From every window of every room, the house commands a view, down to the sea and surrounding countryside, which is quite simply breathtaking. Due to its location in a National Park, this area of the Algarve has remained very unspoilt by tourism - a wonderful secret. Guests have access to golf at 40% off green fees, tennis, a luxurious spa, gorgeous beaches and charming fishing villages. For nightlife, there are the bars and restaurants in the walled city of Lagos. This destination offers something for all the family to discover and enjoy.

We are a British couple with three children, a dog and a cat. We live in Amsterdam. We all love to go to our villa in Portugal whenever possible because of the wonderful healthy lifestyle it provides - gorgeous weather, good food and plenty of things to do.

Why Peter Knight chose Vila Do Bispo region

We first went to Parque da Floresta in 1999 when our children were all very small. We fell in love with the peaceful terrain and the beautiful beaches - the 'unspoiltness' of it all which remains to this day. After all these years, we still marvel at the number of great beaches. Lagos, the historic local town, is becoming more sophisticated year on year and provides all the nightlife our now grown-up children want, while the nearby fishing village of Salema has some truly wonderful restaurants offering the freshest of fish dishes. All in all, it's just a great place to unwind and enjoy yourself in the sun....

What makes this villa unique

Villa 103 is a lovely, spacious house in an amazing spot. It has the most incredible views and yet is completely private. Absolutely no one overlooks the pool terrace, creating a wonderful sense of peace and seclusion. The sun beds are extremely comfortable so it's easy just to spend all day there, except there is so much else to do if you feel like it! There is a small pool table, TV with BluRay and an Android box for streaming TV as well as a surround sound system that you can plug your ipod into. If you don't want to eat out, you can either cook in the kitchen or on the outside dining terrace with a barbecue

Notes on accommodation: This villa is very comfortable and ideal for two families wishing to share. Air-conditioning is available in the bedrooms. Young children who cannot swim would require supervision around the private pool. However, the large, shallow toddler pool by the spa area provides a very good alternative for little ones. Outside: Villa 103 enjoys one of the best plots on Phase II, being the first villa to be built in this area. It is a large, mainly flat plot set above all of the surrounding development, enjoying absolute privacy and wonderful views to the South and West. There is a driveway around to the back of the house providing extensive parking, while the pool terrace lies to the front of the house surrounded by a beautifully-stocked, lawned garden. There are many palm trees providing yet further privacy, although the views down to the sea, the surrounding National Park and the golf course remain unimpeded. Next to the kidney-shaped pool, there is a large sun-bathing area with comfortable sun beds. Pool heating is included in the villa rental. Outside, stairs lead up from the pool area to the first floor terrace where there is a brick-built BBQ and outdoor dining furniture with seating for eight and on into the kitchen. Special interest holidays:

Portugal is increasingly being seen as a great location for cycling - both road and mountain biking. There are lots of small roads away from the coast that are ideal for road cyclists as well as a great route up the West coast. For mountain bikers, there is a seemingly endless tract of wilderness dissected by many undulating trails. Then there are the mountains of Monchique and a route from the West of the Algarve all the way to the East.

Coast/Beach:

Where do you start? The Western Algarve enjoys some of the most spectacular beaches in Europe. On the South coast you will find idyllic coves, with warm sands, ideal for the younger family. For teenagers, Luz beach is a popular destination with its water-sports, including water-skiing, jet skis and ringos. To the West, there are wide, sweeping beaches for the more adventurous and those who want to try their skills in the Atlantic surf. Amado beach has a surf school.

Travel:

From Faro airport, follow the signs for the A22 motorway, direction Lisboa. Once on the A22 heading West, go past the exit for Lisboa and continue until Junction 1 where you exit for Vila do Bispo. Follow the link road to join the N125, direction Sagres. In 10-15 mins, the entrance to PDF golf will be on your right. Total transfer time is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Distances:

Budens is 1km away and has a good supermarket with fresh bread and everything else you need for self-catering. The fishing village of Salema is 3km away, with good seafood restaurants and bars. The historic town of Lagos lies 17km to the East - about 15 minutes away - offering many more bars, restaurants, shops and a vibrant nightlife. To the West, you will find Sagres and Cape St Vincent, Europe's equivalent of Land's End, where the sunsets are quite spectacular.

Parque da Floresta has four hard tennis courts with coaching available and there is a football academy run during the summer months. Playing bowls is also a possibility. The luxury Spa Floresta includes a gym and offers some classes, while the large communal pool is sited directly in front of it. For those preferring a little less activity, the spa offers plenty of pampering treatments.

The resort is a wonderful place for children of all ages with well-organised supervision available. There is a separate large pool ideal for very young children by the spa area. Parque da Floresta has 2/3 bars and restaurants on site, the Spike Bar being the essential 19th hole. Beyond Parque da Floresta to the West is a protected National Park. Booking Notes:
To book, guests should first email the owner to check availability. We will then contact you by phone, something we do for all our guests. To secure a booking, a deposit of 30% of the rental price will be required and you will need to speak directly to the owner to confirm your booking. The balance will become due no later than six weeks prior to departure.

Changeover Day:
The changeover day is flexible, depending on prior bookings.
On changeover days, guests may arrive after 4pm and are asked to vacate by 11am.

Notes on prices:
Rental prices are inclusive of pool heating.

We expect 30% to confirm the booking with the balance payable 6 weeks before travel. Until payment is made the property is still available to other customers.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
