Overview

About the property

Villa Saranda near Agni & Kalami, Corfu - Greek Tourist Organisation EOT Approved - MHTE Number 0829K10TK7733001

Location, location, location!

Villa Saranda is a stylish and luxurious villa in the heart of North East Corfu. Secluded in its own 1 acre plot and 25 olive trees, it has private and direct access on foot (only 3 minutes) to the unspoilt beach of Yialiskari. The beach itself is over 150 metres long and as there are no houses or developments there is a feeling of privacy only interrupted by yachts and boats that sometimes park up in the bay. The colour of the water is magical.

A further 10 minute walk along a pretty coastal path takes you directly to Agni Bay with its famous 3 tavernas. A 10 minute coastal walk in the opposite direction leads to Durrell's White House and the lively resort and Blue Flag beach of Kalami with bars, tavernas and water sports. This is the bay where James Bond's "For Your Eyes Only" was filmed in 1982.

Kalami also has 2 small supermarkets that will deliver your order to the villa. For a larger range of goods Kassiopi is a good alternative with our favourite being Nikos on the right just before you reach the town.

Boat hire is available in Agni - to save you the walk, Alex and George of Agni Boats are always happy to bring a boat to Yialsikari to make this a memorable day out

Also easily accessible by car is the lively fishing harbour of Kassiopi less than 15 mins drive away. Over the past year, Kassiopi has rediscovered itself and the harbour front is a great place to spend an evening. Corfu Town is about 40 minutes drive from the villa but there is the option of a water taxi that leaves regularly from Agni. This takes you into the heart of the Venetian town without the hassle of parking!

The house and its pool are very private with ample verandas, bbq and shaded areas. The most memorable feature is the stunning view across to Albania as well as the beach below and the busy Corfu straits always active with yachts, ferries and fishing boats. The villa is also a home for the English owners and this is reflected in the high level of facilities such as wifi, streamed TV (with a full UK and Sports package) and free internet access. The swimming pool is heated by means of a newly installed heat pump

Saranda is unique and many of our guests have returned year after year to enjoy this special location in arguably one of the most beautiful parts of Greece - do have a look at the Reviews on the Owners Direct website

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sadly back now from our great stay at your villa. I just wanted to give you some feedback which is almost entirely 100% positive!

1. Fab. Location.

2. Really great villa – table tennis and Sky a real bonus for the children – particularly for my son so he could watch the Ashes!

3. Kitchen – possibly the best equipped rental villa we have stayed in – everything we needed.

4. Dawn – great cleaner and lovely person

5. Many thanks for loan of Beach towels which we cleaned before we left.

WOW was our reaction when arriving at Villa Saranda, and things just got

better. Everything was fantastic from the villa being perfect, the location,

the views, the walks, the fire flies, the scent of orange blossom combined with

jasmin, not forgetting the unbelievable weather. The list is endless. Thank

you so much for hiring your beautiful place to us, we are really hoping to

arrange to visit again and will be in touch hopefully in the not too distant

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The villa is perfect for young and old, families or couples. Alongside the lounge the veranda has been recently extended to create a large, partially shaded dining area. A large olive tree gives more shade and the rattan table and chairs comfortably accommodate 6 people Outside: There are many trees in the gardens including mandarin, lemon, fig, pear and of course plenty of old olive trees. Flowers are in abundance with a colourful rose terrace running the full length of the villa. Stone paths surround the villa and there is a large patio area around the swimming pool. There are plenty of loungers and chairs as well as two large parasols. A full size table tennis table is also available. For barbecues, there is a choice of a small "portable" barbecue or alternatively a larger stone built barbecue located on the terrace by the pool. A separate table and chairs are located close to barbecue. The terrace walls are floodlit at night and there is ample additional outside lighting including recessed spot lights on the veranda The private pool measures approximately 9 metres by 5 metres (1.7m at its deepest) and it is cleaned 2 or 3 times weekly. Underwater lighting switches on automatically at night. Pool heating will be installed in early 2015 Utility Room: Washing machine in separate utility area Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The villa is fully equipped with towels (beach towels provided at no extra charge) and all linen including duvets. The villa is meticulously cleaned by a friendly English expat twice weekly with towels and linen changed weekly.

Perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Villa Saranda is the best property in the Kalami and Agni area. Views from villa are stunning, inside you'll find everything you need for perfect vacation. Location is also great - not too close and not too far from Agni and Kalami, so it's quiet and you don't need a car to go to the restaurants. We hired a boat from Alex in Agni and checked all beaches from Kassiopy to Dasia - Yaliskary beach is the best one :)

Hope we will return one day)

Corfu Perfection

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased to be back in Saranda from the moment we arrived. We had to stay in a different house in the bay last year because Saranda was all booked up and it just wasn't right somehow!

Saranda has something that other places just do not have....everything is perfect and there is something quite magical about the whole setting. We have never been in May before and it was wonderful to see it in a different season. We didn't even mind that the sea was so much colder (invigorating you might say) and still swam at midnight a couple of times despite that, and loved having our way back up the slope lit by the fireflies...wonderful!

Hiring a boat from George again provided a great day out and walking over to Koloura for lunch on a cloudy day was lovely. Agni and Toula's tavernas were lovely as ever and we all love the walk there and back for dinner.

There is nowhere I prefer to swim than Yialiskari bay and we could stay for ever

Magical, quiet, stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We visited Villa Saranda in the October half term of 2012. My children and I often think about the fantastic holiday we had there. We lived an almost Robinson Crusoe existence on the beach at Yailiskari, making rafts out of found objects and a large rock became a stage for lots of performances. It really does feel like a private beach to totally relax on!

The villa itself was a wonderful retreat with the most beautiful views of neighbouring mountains and "our" little beach. We didn't have a car but there are some wonderful walks along the coastline with many quiet, relaxed tavernas.

If you are looking for a truly relaxing holiday then this is it!

Location! Location!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we entered the villa we felt right at home. The views are truly amazing - out of this world. The location is perfect.

Communication with Peter the owner was excellent - we could not have asked for more. Our special thanks must go to Dawn a lovely lady who acted over and above her duties and saved the day in an airport dash to return our house keys! Dawn you are a star.

Thank you for a truly wonderful holiday.

Map

Coast/Beach:

Yialiskari Bay (directly below the villa) is a 3 minute walk via a private path. There is no car access to Yialiskari beach and this guarantees its privacy. To the right of the villa along the coastal path is Agni Bay some 10 minutes walk away or 5 minutes by car. Agni is well known for its beach, 3 famous tavernas, and boat hire. There is also a boat taxi to Corfu Town. To the left of the villa there is the beach resort of Kalami only 10 minutes on foot or less than 5 minutes by car.

Travel:

Corfu airport is 45 minutes away by car or taxi. Easyjet. Jet 2 & Ryanair start in March from many regional and European airports in addition to charters with Thomsons and Thomas Cook. Car hire is not essential as Kalami & Agni have all you need for a family holiday. However, a hire car will allow you to explore this beautiful island full of contrasting landscapes. Out of season, Aegean & British Airways have daily flights to Corfu via Heathrow & Athens. 3 flights a day from Corfu to Athens

Distances:

In addition to Agni and Kalami, the largest town nearby is the lively resort & fishing harbour of Kassiopi less than 15 minutes drive away. Venetian Corfu Town is well worth a visit (45 minute drive away) also accessed by speed boat/taxi from Agni. Golf is available 30 minutes away on the other side of the island with the famous resorts of Ermones and Paleocastritsa. Also worthwhile is a drive to the mountain village of Old Perithea, once abandoned but now slowly being restored.

Further Details:

We know the island of Corfu intimately and we are always happy to give you plenty of local information and recommendations on shops, restaurants, night clubs, sights and other trips to places of local interest. Our "Useful Information" pack and free Corfu guide book give you honest and updated details on most aspects of your holiday.

We try hard to offer our guests a much more personal service than agents or package holiday companies. Do feel free to give us a call for friendly and unbiased advice
